Sure wish I had not already overspent on black friday deals. Would jump on the $30 a month deal for school projects in a heartbeat!
I’ll pass. Seems risky. Unknown provider with not a single review anywhere (odd for a 2 year old company), owners have very small linkedin profiles, and no info about where the company is registered.
Hi Jon, we’re one of the not so many providers that own all of our equipment, network, and IPv4 subnets. In the past we’ve even acquired our own ARIN IP space (aside from what ARIN gives) because we so strongly believe in keeping everything we can in-house and provide our customers with the most reliable service we can.
We’re on 7 of the top/major IX’s and directly peered with some of the largest carriers out there. If our commitment to quality isn’t enough to convince you we’re more than happy to give a live tour of one of our datacenter spaces or talk with you directly!
Thank you LEB team for accepting our offer :)
Happy to be on here and provide some great deals for everyone!
I ordered the $30 here yesterday. Setup was fairly quick and I got a lot of help through email before and after server installation. So at least for now I can vouch for that you actually will get a server for this price. The specs was as advertised as well.
I am not too tech savy so if anyone wants any info on it I will be happy to provide some.
Will keep you updated later in the month how it turns out, for now I’m happy :-)
Hello! I ordered the $30 E5-2650 yesterday. I received the server login details about an hour later. I am *thrilled* with this deal, and with how quickly Rackdog answered some questions via their support ticket system. I quickly loaded a few websites and a Minecraft server just to give it something to do right away but the machine has barely noticed that workload.
I live in the area so their data center in Ashburn, VA, provides very low latency. These prices on dedis in this area (or pretty much any area) are unheard of. I keep flipping between celebrating my good fortune and feeling bad about taking a deal that is obviously a loss leader that won’t directly make Rackdog a profit. But man have they engendered my good will!
Ordered and received the $30 offer dedi. All good so far, I’m very pleased!
One more thing, have to mention. I live in northern Europe, international routing from/to this US based Rackdog server seems to be exceptional. I get to it with like 10 hops from my home router which is much better than what I achieve with some providers in Europe
Why is there a $3 gateway charge?
Ordered a $30 dedi about a week ago and has recevied quick responses from the support team. Will be deploying a few apps on this box to check out how it performs but so far pretty happy with this purchase.
I was just about to overspend my budget on this $30 deal, but the gateway charge turned me off. It was not disclosed upfront so who knows if there will be other hidden charges.
Teacher on a budget, cannot stand hidden charges:)
I believe “gateway’ is payment gateway (credit card, etc…), and I wouldn’t consider that a hidden charge per se. It’s more along the lines of taxes & fees at the end of the transaction during checkout. I can understand where on such an amazing deal, a couple of dollars would seem like a 5% or 10% upcharge. But, considering the $70 savings… it’s still a bargain.
What I mean to say is nothing duplicitous or nefarious that I can see.
I just placed an order (with gateway fee) and waiting for provisioning. Let’s see!
This offer still available?
Bought the $100 deal. Will try it and give feedback.I autofilled the wrong email address.Already opening a ticket to deal with it,clever me.
Bought the $30 dedi server few weeks ago. At this point very happy with the speed and performance. Added 15-16 low level sites and they are speedy.
In my past experiences the $30 range dedi servers were a nightmare but looking like Rack Dog is the real thing. Fast to answer me on the few minor issues and they seem very competent.
Have been in the server game for many years, so can’t blame me for being nervous about a $30 dedi:)
Hope to be their customer for years to come.
So far so good, support has also been great. Even when I bungled my configs.
Saw a great deal, felt some doubts about the company though.
Pricing was pretty good for the specs so went ahead and risk it.
Didn’t wanna risk putting my card details into their payment system though so i did a bank transfer instead.
my bank confirmed the payment clearing as it’s a fast remit, waited a couple of hours to let them catch up but didn’t heard back.
Finally got a response hours later on the live chat but was told they haven’t receive payment.
Have requested for cancellation and refund instead, not feeling the customer service but i guess you get what you pay for.
Just some updates on my experience. They provisioned my dedibox and i decide to just give the 1 month a try.
The server functions well, server and network performance are pretty decent, support is acceptable especially for the price i’m paying. I don’t expect immediate responses or replies over the weekends but I do get replies, it’s not totally dead.
There were some ongoing issues with KVM console feature in the client area which I think is fixed. the noVNC window is so tiny and there’s no way I can resize it so it’s almost useless for me. I worked around that by changing noVNC UI style to OSD mode which forces a 1024×768 res.
I haven’t used the server with much production stuffs so at 1 point the NIC on the server is overutilized causing everything to be slow. Since I requested for proxmox installed, I can log in to Proxmox webui and powerdown all the containers and VMs but still see high network activity.
Support said server was compromised and had to rebuilt it, It’s been almost a week since that incident and i have a couple more services running now and have not encountered issues.
I did not choose stripe payment as it requires me to store my card info in their system so I paid via bank transfer instead, just generated a new invoice and made another bank transfer payment for the 2nd month, going to see how long it takes for them to clear payment because it took awhile the first time, don’t plan to raise a ticket like the first time and just see how quick they handle bank transfer payments.
Does Rackdog provide a few any IPv6 subnets?
Yes, they do!
Does this come with IPMI or a way for me to install operating systems without needing to ask support?
Its more than 1 day and you guys still not replied my ticket.
