Via this WHT offer, Hooks-PC is yet another cheap OpenVZ/HyperVM VPS provider who ventured into the sub-$7 VPS category. It’s cheapest offer, the $5.95/month “Tiny” offers:
- 128MB memory
- 30GB storage
- 100GB monthly data transfer
- CentOS/Debian/Fedora/Gentoo/OpenSUSE/Ubuntu
Seems to be offering a lot of space for $5.95 (great as a backup box) but then again this is OpenVZ so you might not actually be able to use that much as the host oversells. Servers are in Houston, Texas, inside Limestone Networks‘ IP range. Doing a social network look up reveals the owner is still in high schools so again — buyers beware (especially during the examination time :)

It appears that the VPS is actually starting at $7.75 because $5 is only the bare minimum monthly subscription fee WITHOUT IP address, memory, storage and data bandwidth. When you add the minimum required (1 IP, 64MB memory, 1GB storage space and 10GB data transfer/month), it will go up to $7.75, which is above the threshold that I use for this site.
