Mody from Host90 contacted me about their exclusive offer for the LowEndBox users. Use promo code Lowendbox to get 15% off recurring discount. Their “Baby VPS” becomes $4.24/month after the discount, and it has
- 128MB guaranteed/316MB burstable memory
- 10GB storage
- 50GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Now you also get to choose from Scranton and Chicago for server location. Server specs are Xeon E5520 with 12GB of memory. They have also updated their website which now looks a bit better than last time — at least without some of the claims. They have also updated their WHOIS info with a valid email address — otherwise you can pretty much take over the entire domain by registering the other expired domain and do the transfer.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Sequential nameservers, only one of which responds. Doh!

“otherwise you can pretty much take over the entire domain by registering the other expired domain and do the transfer.”
Might not have been possible. If, for example, they used a different email to create their GoDaddy account, GoDaddy would have most likely sent the transfer confirmation email to that email, not the one on the WHOIS. Same goes for the EPP/Authinfo code.
You’re right, though. It’s very unprofessional and COULD lead to a domain hijack.
Could be true, but I would not risk my domains with registrant email addresses on an unregistered domain :)
Also note that they have migrated their website from HostNOC (Scranton) to Singlehop (Chicago) over the last 12 hours.
@A why not look out for the good things instead of looking to find bugs/unprofessional things. its interesting how everyone comes and try to find a bug. I’m sorry
regarding the other domain, I think we can afford to buy a domain name? but its a long story..
@ Lowendadmin regarding website migration, well yeah we moved and guess why? we have got more than 15 server with HostNoc and we are very happy with their service but as you know lot of people think it is unprofessional to have servers with HostNOC :)
“You’re right, though. It’s very unprofessional and COULD lead to a domain hijack.” That’s what you think.
I would say it : I personally think its unprofessional…
it Just surprises me how everyone comes and start pinging our name servers , and we do not even have shared web hosting. I would love to hear complaints from our clients instead of someone who does not know how good/bad is our service. So sad they try to Hurt people businesses.
Thank you LowendBox we have got some great signups from you :) We are having a new node going live on Monday we will be giving 5 FREE VPS for life on LowendBox, Have a Great day!
Just signed up a few days ago with the baby vps plan. Everything seems to be consistent, no downtime yet. For the price I am super happy (most unreliable hosting from other companies cost more), and for what I plan to be doing it will work great, and if I grow I can always upgrade! I am loving having complete control and not worrying if something is possible on the server, I can simply install it!
I’ll post a follow up after I have been with them for a while.
