    • It is possible however you would need to use your own valid Windows Key, or we are an official Microsoft SPLA and can rent a license. Please contact us for a price quote as Windows would be custom at this time.

      • We do not block TLS or the older SSL. We do have a standard block on port 25 to prevent compromised systems from spamming. An exception can be made under the right conditions.

          • TLS is a best practice for a mail server. If there is a justified use case for port 25 we can open it.

    Some questions :)

Do you block the following ports on server: 80, 443, 25 and 22 for incoming traffic?
Do you block outgoing connections, eg VPS trying to send non-spam mail out?
Is the IP address (or the IP block) blacklisted by any public blacklists?
Is the disk I/O less than 80MB/s ?
Do you allow files larger than 1MB on the VPS ?

    • Now that we have our KVM product back in stock, some answers :)

Do you block the following ports on server: 80, 443, 25 and 22 for incoming traffic?
We do block port 25 outbound. An exception can be made.

Do you block outgoing connections, eg VPS trying to send non-spam mail out?
The only block is on port 25 outbound. TLS and SSL are both open.

Is the IP address (or the IP block) blacklisted by any public blacklists?
IP’s should be clean however there are a lot of lists out there. We can always clean up the IPs when needed.

Is the disk I/O less than 80MB/s ?
      Yes. Much.

Do you allow files larger than 1MB on the VPS ?
      Of course.

Just a fair warning to anyone who is planning to use Hostbrew. When you register for a service and pay using PayPal, they activate a recurring payment schedule in PayPal. And if you disable the service they don’t warn you in anyway that you have a recurring payment still active or you should disable the recurring payment. I realized that the payment was still going one month later after I cancelled the service. I contacted the customer service to get my money back. Martin told me they wont return the money. They only way to utilize that money was to use their service. Which I didn’t want. So I requested to cancel the account and get the balance back. Again Martin refused to return the balance.

I have never experienced this kind of thing in any host service. I don’t have any complain about the performance of the service. Just know that you’ll never get your balances refunded.

    • Durning checkout you have the option to setup recurring payment or a one-time payment.

    • Mona:

Yes I’ve had a similar experience. I set up the recurring payment but it didn’t work for some reason. I went a few days past due, and Martin raised the rate on my VPS $3 per month. I opened a ticket and Martin claimed that the LEB discount rates were only “promotional”, and any late payment causes that to expire?

      WTF, that is pretty sheisty.

      August 22, 2016 @ 5:01 pm | Reply
      • Mona, sorry you had a bad experience. I do hope it only came to billing and not the quality of the service itself.

All of our special so far have been recurring so far as long as the service remain active. We send out an invoice a week before payment is due and then a reminder the day before the payment is due. If a payment is not made on time and the service is suspended for non-payment, the service is considered no longer active, and the promotion is removed.

Under “Billing” of our Terms of Service (TOS) you will find the following:

“If a promotion is used, it is only valid for the terms of the promotion. If a promotion is recurring, service must remain active for the promotion to continue. If payment if not made by the due date the rate will return to the current web price at that time.”

I’m sorry you feel that this policy is “sheisty” but we disagree. Our rates are already low, and the discount on our already low rates would be yours for as long as payments are made on time.

        Regards,
        Martin Wright
