LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

HostLatch - $4.46 386MB OpenVZ VPS

Updated March 2010: HostLatch has been purchased by GigeVPS and is now redirecting there.

HostLatch Via this WHT offer. HostLatch‘s current promotion — getting 25% off with promo code vpsdiscount25. Their “Beginner” package is then $4.46/month with the following spec

  • 386MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 30GB storage
  • 500GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers are in Dallas TX with Databank. HostLatch has been featured here at LowEndBox for quite a while and I currently have one VPS with them in Orland. Service was stable when it’s up, and I have recently upgraded my VM to Ubuntu 10.04 which is cool. However I also have a few days of downtime with them due to issues with SolusVM — I think I’ll be hesitated to put any important public-facing service on it. YMMV :)

  2. It has already been resolved (a few months ago I think). I am having issues with SolusVM with multiple providers (not just HostLatch) so it could be the culprit.

  4. I don’t recommend hostlatch if your site needs to be up 24/7. For the price, they’re quite OKish. My VPS and reseller account up-time was below 98% that’s why I moved from them.

I have been using their Beginner VPS for 3 mo. Uptime has been good and support tickets answered in 10 minutes for me

I hope they will keep up the service.

they are under a new management called “gigevps”

    Dear Nicolas,

My name is Stephen, a representative emailing you from GigeVPS.net. We are proud to announce that we are acquiring HostLatch for the better, Hostlatch is now under new management. With the new management you will notice quicker, friendlier, and overall better support. With us taking over Hostlatch we are transferring your VPS to our nodes. All servers are now being migrated to new servers on 1Gbps switchports – this does mean that your new VPS can burst to speeds up to 1000 megabits per second!

We understand that this is a huge inconvenience, however please note that we are doing this for the better.

To sum it up, your advantages will be:
    • Friendlier and faster support
    • 1Gbps uplinks
    • Better performance on servers

You will get your VPS IPs changed, and we will start the migration as soon as possible, you will be sent an email once migration on your node is finished, with your new VPS IPs.

Some nodes have already started, and you should have received an email titled “Your new VPS IP.”
If you are on the “alpha” or “bravo” node you will not be affected by this move. To find out what node you are on please login http://manage.gigevps.net:5353/login.php and then under “node” it displays what server you are on. Your login information has and will remain the same. If you have any questions please open a ticket under “Management.” The new client area is available at http://my.gigevps.net/ – your login information has remained the same.

    Have a pleasant week ahead!

  7. Hmm. GigeVPS.com was only registered a week ago. Nothing on its twitter feed. A Dallas based company with servers in Orlando — sounds more like a rebranding (and change of ownership) than a merger with existing hosting provider. Not sure why they even bothered to change servers and reallocate IP addresses, since they could just inherit HostLatch’s boxes.

HostLatch has done “pretty well” for setting up the business for 15 months and growing it to a point to sell it. Well done Adam for his “business sense”, but may not be so with us customers.

same prices, less space (10G less), less bandwidth (300GB less) and the don’t talk about burstable memory.

GigeVPS ~= GrandiosHost? They share nameservers, datacenter, and their WHT rep (Jacob Wall).

    Hello Nicolas,

We would like to update y’all and add to yesterdays email. Lots of customers came to us wondering if prices were going to change at all, we would like to address this – they will not be changing. Once again the pricing for your VPS’s will not change, they are locked in for life of your VPS! If you have any questions please open up a ticket under management or reply to this email.

    Have a pleasant week ahead!

  13. Got an email from Adam to clarify the sale. Plus the last email from Jacob and this post on WHT,

    1. Although the domain is new, new owner is Jacob Wall who has been around the industry for a while.
    2. Migration of the servers is required to move them to gigabit ports (which is where “gigevps” came from).
    3. Adam need to focus on the managed VPS side of his business, VPSLatch, which is one of the reasons why he sold HostLatch, the unmanaged VPS provider.
    4. Assurance from both Adam and Jacob that the current customers are in good hands and the price will stay the same.

  15. Richard Reyes:

    Dear Sir/Madam:

I am looking for an unmanaged VPS account. I have minimum requirements (basic setup – 128mg Ram, 100gb Bandwidth), but do require the following:

Unmanaged Linux VPS with root access
    Ubuntu as the operating system
    Additional IP Addresses
Data Center preferably located in Texas

I would greatly appreciate any help that you can give me, such as, pricing for the basic setup (monthly and yearly) and the cost for additional IP Addresses – 3 IP Addresses to start with, maybe 12 total in the future. A referral would also be appreciated.

    Many Thanks,
    Richard Reyes
