HostSailor is a company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, who have their own infrastructure located in the Databarn DC in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. All of the equipment (switches, routers, servers) is owned. They’re also a Microsoft Partner, RIPE member, and LACNIC member, so they own their own IP ranges. All host nodes are connected with a 1Gbps uplink, but according to Alexander, they’re working to upgrade all those uplinks to 10Gbps. Their backbones are also getting upgrades from 2x 10Gbps to 4x 10Gbps, so there should be plenty of room for traffic there! Server specifications are available if you click ‘Read more’. All incoming traffic is free of charge and you can basically get as much IPv6 addresses as you want (within reason). If you have experience with HostSailor or decide to try them out as a result of this post, please share your experiences with us in the comments or at LowEndTalk.com!

PayPal, Credit Card, Bank Transfer, CashU, PaySafeCard, Skrill, WebMoney, Bitcoin, Western Union / Moneygram, and Perfect Money are all accepted payment methods. If you have trouble getting money to these guys, you may want to reconsider where that troubles lies ;-) All servers support TUN, TAP, and PPTP by default, include backups, and offer “flexible upgrading/easy scalability. As usual, please read their Terms of Service before putting in an order!

  2. Their ASN shows they are connected to NForce !!! And I think there is a mistake. They use Dual Quad E5620 for Xen/KVM as they replied to My Ticket. Don’t know if it has been changed.

    December 7, 2014 @ 6:22 am | Reply
    • We run our separate network and hardware and Nforce provides us with bandwidth and power, as for the specs of XEN/KVM you are right, I will have to contact Maarten to fix this. Thank you for bringing this up to us.

      Are you spammer?

      December 7, 2014 @ 12:19 pm | Reply
    • We make sure we check our IPS daily with external blacklist sites, actually we have them checked automatically and we clean as we get the reports, by clean we mean we take off any spammers first then delist the IPS, however if we missed on something and you ended up with a bad IP we’ll be happy to replace it for you, ofcourse if you insist on a refund within 14 days it’s also possible.

Can it be used for downloading torrents or for using it as continuously transferring data from web drives and server, like downloading public files on server and then uploading to personal web drives.

    • Yes, that’s fine, you have a bandwidth limit so you’re free to use it however you wish.

  13. Just purchased one of these to use as a development box for Ruby/Rails and PHP. Set it up with Codebox (NodeJS based Web IDE) and it’s like having my own personal Nitrous.io/Koding but cheaper!

Payment was a breeze, setup was instant and the server is fast and responsive. Can’t complain really.

P.S. use the coupon code ‘SANTASAILOR’ (The excellent ‘CouponsAtCheckout’ Chrome extension told me about it) and you get 25% off your first bill.

    I am currently looking for 2 types of KVM VPS (hint! hint!), a “tiny one” (128MB, 5GB HD (RAIDed), 0.5TB xfer) and a medium one (512MB, 20GB+ HD, 2 TB+, preferably 2x IP4) …

and hostsailor was one of the first providers I checked out.

They seem to look good but I will *not* become their client for 2 reasons:
    – They’d subject me under uae law that pretty nobody knows and that supposedly is designed to please their monarch only.
    – To really make sure, they basically make their clients sign that it’s the clients fault and obligation no matter what, that whatever hostsailor/ Mr. Abdullah please to decide is the law, and that they are free to change any- and everything at any moment.

The internet is a tough world and I *do* understand that a provider must protect himself. But hostsailor seems to be at the very extreme end of that and I will not become a subject of some mid-east monarch just to save some $ every month.

In other words: I strongly suggest they work over their concept because, frankly, neither Europeans nor americans care bat*it about the “legal creativity” of some arab monarch (or VPS providing sub-monarchs).
Well noted, this is my view and I do by no means intend to insult anyone, nor do I wish to paint the *technical* merits of hostsailor in bad colours (actually they seem to be really nice on the technical side).

    • I have just noticed your comments, well we are legally bound by law to the UAE laws since we’re a registered company in Dubai, UAE but honestly we never had any problems with users or customers as technically you’re hosted in Netherlands so you’re bound by the laws of the where the servers are, our legal commitments as a company should not in anyway mean anything to you, and it will not from now onwards, we only make sure that a customer follows our policies in regards to abuse/spam, if you don’t fall under that category then I don’t see a reason why would you think that this will affect you in anyway, in a nutshell don’t worry it should not ring any alarms or cause any issues at all.

Support was unfriendly and unhelpful. Plus it seems that no official policies exist and at one point they claim 20 days, then its 18 if I fall within 20 days. Everything went well until I got logged on spamhaus somehow.

    • Just stumbled upon this comment, when you get on the spamhaus list, you are considered a spammer, and we can not host spammers on our network, yes we terminated your service weeks later, since you never responded to the suspension, we don’t see any errors there, we’ve followed our policies and you ignored the case for weeks.

    • We block direct mailing to protect our network/you from spam, our mail relay service is functioning correctly across our VPS segment, and if you are not going to send any spam, not that I am saying you will just mentioning, then you do not have to worry about sending it via a spamfilter relay server, that being said we do not block it on our dedicated servers. Delayed mail can happen when you are sending hundreds/thousands of emails at once.

Scam company. It treats their customers like a garbage.
On May 1st in the evening I ordered a VPS.
In the morning on May 3d I got a service suspention notification. Reason: “Hosting Child Porn”. But I didn’t hosted any porn on my server! Then began a fully stupid and futile conversation with support and abuse department. All my afforts to prove my innocence ended in failure. Support could do nothing and always refered to abuse deparment. I sent three letters to the abuse department:
3 May evening. Me: explain to me suspension reason. Abuse department: ignored my message.
4 May morning. Me: request for fully abuse report. Abuse department: fake and inadequate response. (see below).
4 May. Me: this porn site is not on IP of my server. Provide me with full abuse report. Abuse department: ignored my message.
Today 5May, server is still banned. Abuse department doesn’t respond.

The most wonderful was the answer of the abuse department. THE FIRST: they just threw me a link to some porn site and they said that this site had the IP adress of my server. But it is not true. This site is hosted at another IP, not on my server! THE SECOND: they noted that the abuse report was sent before 30-4-2018. But on 30 April my server didn’t exist yet! I ordered it on the 1 of May in the evening. It’s really incomprehensible.

My conclusion: anytime this hoster can just rip-off you and you loose your money and data. They don’t care about their reputation.
