VPS not provisioned after payment. I also did open a Ticket: HUS-TK29333. It seems some of the users complaining about LA location repeated downtime at their Facebook page. Mistakenly choose that location during order. Is that the possible issue or, they are provisioning vps manually? Ticket also pending for 1 hour. No replies on support ticket.

I have had a plan similar to the US Special 2 plan for a year now and they have been great for me so far. Going to pick up a bigger machine this time around and play with Docker. They do provision manually so it may take a few hours to get your VM. I don’t necessary see this as a bad thing, but it is something to be aware of.

I just took advantage of this offer a few days ago (US/EU special 1). I must say that I am extremely satisfied with the level of service I have gotten from these guys! I was up and running within 15 minutes of signing up, and they even had FUSE activated within less than an hour from my ticket.

I’m using Debian 8 with Ispconfig3, and have gitlab omnibus and .NET core running smoother than ever.

    Hi Andrew,
Earlier today I made a purchase but fortunately, you guys canceled my order as you found me a fraud only based on the name. I contacted FraudRecord and they just have given me clean chit – https://www.fraudrecord.com/api/?showreport=4e3261ea8874147f. This type of silly fraud detection should be done during the process of registration, please and this won’t be a huge task.

I would be very glad to get back my money finally.

as i said to the ticket, please fix the rDNS coz i can’t send any email to Yahoo, gmail or other mail provide

Why the hell did you replay the ticket saying that “We have mentioned that SMTP is not available – you need to use a mail relay or host emails externally.”

Don’t you guys understand what my problem is!!!!

I was initially extremely satisfied with HostUS. Performance was good and the price was great, and even support was pretty spot on. Lately, however, I’ve been having longer and longer periods of time with absolutely no response… we are talking 6, 10, 12 hours without a response, while the VPS is off. To be fair to HostUS their automated system suspended my VPS for too many SMTP connections in most of these situations. One time I did find an email address that had been compromised and was sending SPAM, however every other time the only thing that could possibly have triggered their detector was an opt-in mailing list mailing to ~150 individuals.

My main concerns with HostUS right now are the “nuclear” option of shutting down an entire VPS because of too many SMTP connections, and the amount of time it takes to get services restored after a ticket is filed following this event. I also have no reason to believe that the failure to respond in a timely manner to tickets is simply because of the type of ticket. In both of the last two times this has occurred, I’ve received a response within an hour or so explaining what happened and offering to turn the VPS back on with my commitment to resolve the issue (which I’ve provided within 5 minutes of the HostUS response)…but then hours and hours (10 – 12 last time, 2 and counting this time) pass before the VPS is un-suspended.

While I understand the importance of protecting the network and the reputation of their IP’s, I wish they would implement a simple blocking of the offending port, leaving other services up, and allowing the opportunity to resolve the issue with out 5, 10, 15 hours of downtime waiting for a response to a ticket.

Bottom line: Still happy with the service and performance, extremely displeased with the time-to-resolution of support tickets and the complete shut-down of a VPS if a certain arbitrary limit of SMTP connections is reach as determined by an automated program.

FYI: Latest ticket submitted at 02:16 HostUS time, currently 06:50 HostUs time, and no response or even acknowledgment on the ticket (submitted with “High” priority [highest level possible]) yet after nearly 5 hours, all services are still down and the VPS will not start.

    • Paul Rupp:

Also in fairness, Leo from HostUS has very helpfully suggested out-sourcing email to a commercial SMTP service, and I would like to do that, just haven’t had the chance to put the pieces together because of the time required to change SPF and DKIM records, test before putting into production, etc.

That said, I can’t recommend HostUS for any type of VPS and/or application that deals with outgoing email, even for a small or personal domain.

  32. Paul Rupp:

So, 5 hours later my High priority support ticket was finally answered. And, according to Andrew at HostUS, this is their utterly ridiculous support ticket policy that anyone considering obtaining service from HostUS should be aware of:

“As we respond to tickets in order, each time you bump the ticket, it gets moved to the bottom of the queue.”

By “bump” he means reply, update, post additional information, or in any way interact with your ticket other than simply waiting hours and hours for a reply from Hostus.

Absurdly, the order of creation of tickets apparently has nothing to do with the order in which they are resolved in the Hostus world. This is a lose-lose proposition for the customer. You can submit a ticket, cross your fingers and hope and pray that it will eventually be addressed while you hear nothing back for hours on end, or, you could submit a ticket, and any time you ask for an update after hearing absolutely nothing back it apparently gets bumped to the bottom of the queue…in what world does that make sense, and how can it possibly be considered customer service?
