J-Solutions - €3.24 256MB OpenVZ VPS in France

Updated November 2011: j-solutions.org stopped resolving after 18 October. Judging from the comments in this thread, the outcome is actually not surprising…

J-Solutions This was sent to me from Jonne of J-Solutions. A newly launched hosting company by a “student from Finland” (on their About page), they are “very young, but very powerful”. Moreover, 35% off recurring discount launch special with promo code 35LAUNCH. Their “Pronze Plan” (probably a Finnish version of Bronze) would be €3.24/month after the discount. Here is what you will get

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 80GB storage
  • 100Mbps unmetered bandwidth
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Payment is PayPal only. You can use their website for ping test. Servers with Kimsufi in Strasbourg, France. Yes another .ORG domain used for business. No SSL on WHMCS. Failed WHMCS domain verification. No ToS. Same IP address for both name servers. And the Jonne looks way too young (on his Facebook profile) to be running a business seriously — but good effort nevertheless.

Pretty big drive with unmetered bandwidth though. I wonder what kind of clients will they attract…

Update: Yes this post was removed previous on J-Solutions’ request, as he claimed that the linked Facebook profile was someone else. I wonder how that “someone else” also happened to have the same email as the registrant of his domain. Anyway, I am putting the post back now as quite a few people have wondered what happened.

Indeed , Seems WHMCS is nulled or something , no “copy right” under WHMCS , and I tried to verify it with the verify tool from WHMCS.

    http://www.j-solutions.org/vserver.php
is almost verbatim lifted from Alvotech.

Not to mention the obvious yet peculiar “vServer” and “dServer” terms (which in my experience none other than Alvotech used before), just read:

http://alvotech.de/vserver/ *** The available bandwidth per vServer is 1,000Mbps. Once traffic has reached 1,000 GB the bandwidth is limited to 10Mbps until the end of the month. Upon request, the traffic limit can be replaced with a fee of 6.90 EUR per 1,000 GB additional traffic.

http://www.j-solutions.org/vserver.php *The available bandwidth per vServer is 2000Mbps. If the traffic has reached 2TB, the bandwidth will be limited to 10Mbps until the end of the month. You can reset your traffic usage by paying a fee of 7.00€ per 1TB additional traffic.

And generally, just switch back and forth between these two URLs, you’ll notice a lot of similarities, except the J-Solutions page looks a lot crappier.

Well VDS are named very often named vServer in north-european countries. For example: If you want to order a VDS in Germany, denmark, Norway they all name them vServer in their local presence whereas for intl. customers they sometimes rename them to VDS.

I would avoid this. First of all, name Jonne, seriously…

    http://fi.wiktionary.org/wiki/Liite:Nettislangi (Internet slang)

Jonne – “approximately 9 to 13 year-old son, who drinks the energy drink and play counter strike” Often used in 4chan like of websites on finland, and i am 99% sure owner of this build-up isn’t named Jonne and he’s just using false identity.

Please be aware, this looks really fishy for finnish people like me.

    Arghh, i don’t trust this

I taked a look at kimsufi servers, and the cheapest one is 13.99 GBP (€16) And that server has a 1.2 Ghz CPU and 2GB Ram 1TB HDD and 100mbit unmetered Bandwith/traffic

    He can host 2048/256 = 8 Servers

    16/8 = €2 per server
He actually can make some profit of it without overselling

But still if he has that one, it has a low CPU 1.2 Ghz prob shared

With the Kimsufi 16GB one he can even make more profit (Has a better CPU 4x 2.66ghz)

2048/256=8 VPSs (Server RAM / by VPS RAM = number of VPSs)
€16+€7+€6.96=€19.96 (Server cost + IP cost + SolusVM Slave cost = total server cost)
€29.96/8=€3.75 per VPS (Total server cost / number of VPSs = required cost per VPS)
€3.75+3%+€0.21=€4.07 (Required cost per VPS + Paypal fees = price per VPS in order to break even)

He would be taking a major loss if he were using the cheapest plan (which I doubt he would be).

      • We are using this plan from kimsufi:
        Intel i5 4×2.66GHz
        16GB RAM
        2TB HDD

You are only looking at the kimsufi plans, OHV has a lot more on their site.

Also why are you converting the server cost from GBP to EUR? OHV/Kimsufi lists that server on their site for €13.99

Finland cannot order from OVH/kimsufi.ie – Finland has ovh.fi since they need to pay EU tax.
The cheapest server (the atom) costs around 20euro there.

Exactly. OVH has no operational DC in Strasbourg. So all the calculations started by Wesly are obsolete. But Server4You’s Datadock is in Strasbourg.

firstly. The link to my “facebook”?
    Seriously. I don’t even have a facebook.

Secondly, SSL is not working on our site for some reason.

I hope you are aware that you cannot use pictures from the Evoswitch media kit (the Background with the servers) commercially.

      • The first sites out there were made fastly.
Our designer is now working on the new sites.

He told me that the sites will be available in 24 hours!

So which is the reason you don’t allow potential customers to protect their transmission of personal data be somehow secure?

  10. Hello,
my name is “fishy” in Finland, indeed. But it’s not a joke, it’s just my real name.
Anyways, we are launching our new sites very soon, and we will have the SSL.

We had servers from Strasbourg, but we moved to OVH servers. If you do order a VPS now, it will be located into Roubaix. We are getting also US as a location very soon.

This may look fishy, but trust me.. It is not. You can see customer testimonials here:
