This offer was shared on LowEndTalk here and also here. Kimsufi, a subsidiary of OVH, are offering a Atom Dedicated server for just €2.99/Month!

- Intel Atom CPU 1.6Ghz
- 500GB Harddrive
- 100Mbps unmetered
- 1 IPv4 Address
- 1 IPv6 Address
- €2.99/Month | Order Link
Please note that delivery times are fairly long (up to 10 days) and seemingly non-EU citizens are not eligible for this deal.
A whole dedicated server for €2.99/Month – it must be Aprils fools day? No, this is a real offer. We are not sure how many of these are available, so if you’re interested don’t hesitate in ordering. So far all servers have been provisioned with brand new HDDs. You will have to sign up for a minimum of 3 months. You can pay via paypal for an additional fee. VAT is payable if you’re from the EU. You can use the UK site if you live in the UK or the Irish site if you’re from Ireland, USA, or Canada. What are your thoughts on this server? Do you think this will reshape the lowend market?

Looks like low end VPS providers in Europe are dead then…
Here is a Benchmark from Serverbear that was shared on LowEndTalk: http://serverbear.com/benchmark/2013/07/26/vVmtcZYio46LZGpf
It’s obviously not so good on cpu or on disk i/o, but then again it’s not shared so it takes away the risks of attacks like the one we saw on most LEB providers using openvz a few weeks ago. I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore VPS if I can get one of these OVH servers. For streaming, email and small webhosting this is perfect for me…
Indeed, performance won’t be as good as say a ramnode vps but it is dedicated as you said.
I just spoke to them, delivery is early next week for my order placed yesterday. They said at the minute orders take upto 10 days to fulfill.
These are most likely sled chassis, so it’s worth bearing in mind that these are not as dedicated as as 1u server for example. There could be shared PSU and so on, it depends on how they have implemented the sleds.
The ToS says delivery time max for a dedicated server is 7 days.
do u have any reseller package?
The fine print, at least on the French site:
“Available only for residents of the European Union.”
I ordered one before reading that. So I guess they’ll probably cancel the order.
I believe international customers need to use the irish site.
Few weeks ago I submitted a ticket asking if OVH accepts international customers. The reply was that customers without OVH country representatives should go to OVH.com (French) to make order. Sadly I just re-checked the support ticket link and it says “Not available at the moment”. Not sure if they delete it or something.
No. On Irish site there’s the same fine print:
“Exclusively available for residents of the European Union only.”
When you get to the end of the order process on the Irish site, the only country selections available are Ireland, Canada, and United States.
Yep, sorry looks like they’ve changed the system.
Yea. But the French site allows you to choose any country. Even Asian countries including India are listed there. If they didnt accept non EU customers, it doesnt make sense to leave that selection box with so many options.
http://www.kimsufi.com/fr/
Here is where I ordered, and they have pretty much any country, I do not know about customers outside EU, but maybe give it a try?
me, too but i got the pending payment at the paypal account
don’t know what it was mean
the status was “need authorization to”
i’m from asia after all
i already planned so long to order 1 of that, it was really a great chance that the price was reduced to very low right now
i already ask the CS before order, that was one month ago and they redirect me to ovh.com at french
i live in norway (NOT part of the european union), been with ovh for over a year;
only issue was registering, i had to use their french signup page, because i was in norway… fuck logic
I ordered one last week and just got an invoice, saying “Kimsufi 2G – 3 month – cancelled | €8.97”. I am an existing customer (3 years) from the US. So it looks like they just cancelled it, I just hope this offer gets through to the US too in the future.
http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/12190/ovh-bandwidth-aup-2013#latest
If you’re planning on using 100mbps continuously, take a look at that thread.
“You can use the UK or Irish site if you’d like to order in English”
UK site: you must be a UK resident
Irish site: you must live in Ireland, USA, or Canada (if you’re a new customer and from the US or Canada you will need to verify your identity)
The residency requirements are strictly enforced on the UK and IE sites so if you’re from another country you’ll need to order in French from kimsufi.com which is currently limiting orders to EU residents only and imposing a limit of 3 Kimsufi products per person:
> Disponibilité sous réserve de la validation de votre commande et dans la limite des stocks disponibles.
Usage : Serveur personnel. Non autorisé pour la revente. Limité à 3 serveurs par personne physique ou morale.
Disponible uniquement pour les habitants de l’Union Européenne.
Here is a Benchmark
…and here is an uptime from a Kimsufi N2800…they’re very reliable
Thanks!
They use to have an availability page, cannot find it anymore.
Chinese can‘t buy it. %>_<%
for China there is lowendbox
But if I choice a win distro on it I need to pay also the license… what if already I have a license?
Install as debian, once you have ordered and server is setup, you can reinstall it to windows distro with your own key (this is what I did on my old 2g)
Not specifically debian, any linux distro, sorry*.
If these are the old N270 Atoms and not the later 2600 ones i’d be interested to see how they handle Windows Server (although neither will be blazing tbh)
I ran windows on my old 2gb server I had with them 2months ago, ran fine with normal tasks etc. Wouldn’t be able to give you a full review as I didn’t stress it or properly test it.
I’ve ran windows 2008 on the n2800 I got last time on the 2g offer. It ran ok, not really fast but ok. It’s definitely useable and doesn’t lag when doing ordinary tasks.
Thanks for the info gents.
followup on countries:
If you’re from a Spanish speaking country order from ovh.es. They accept orders from 19 South American countries https://www.ovh.es/pedido/kimsufi.cgi?hard=134sk1
There’s ovh.it, ovh.lt, isgenug.de, isgenoeg.nl… and so on. They probably have a list somewhere.
I think if you just use ovh.com then it will redirect you to your local site. It does that for the UK anyway.
So which site are Indians supposed to order from?
None. The offer’s restricted to EU citizens only.
Looks like they are using renewable energy to bring down the power costs so much, smart move given the location
here it is still cheaper:
https://www.ovh.co.uk/dedicated_servers/kimsufi.xml
Would love to see something at this price point in the US.
Can I ask where you got the test IPs from? 188.165.12.106 is a test IP for RBX, there doesn’t seem to be an official one for GRA yet.
Indeed, test IPs and files are not up for GRA yet at http://proof.ovh.net/
There are some unofficial ones on LET.
37.187.0.99 — One I found posted on LET
Anyone know about reinstall OS fee?
no fee
Indeed, there is no reinstallation fees as there is an OVH manager which can be used.
reinstallation is automatic
thank you for posting this, it shows you have character.
It seems I can’t find any option between Checkout and subscribe.
Will they automatically charge my Paypal after each period?
They shouldn’t do so. With my past services from them, they have just invoiced me and made me pay the invoice just like the checkout. I used my credit card though.
Thanks Mike, I’ll pay now :)
Kinda sucks, now they are limiting people to 3 servers max per account
Not to be reasold ‘personal servers’
What will come next.
They shouldn’t be sold as production servers either way.
well, many would want to buy 100 of them and resell them for 20 euro a piece, even more, a server like this has a much higher price in another location, the hardware being basically “almost” the same, almost meaning normal people and not computer experts would not know the difference, and actually 2GB is 2GB, 500GB is 500GB, the processor is a bit low but who cares, also ECO, which is really interesting…
Forgot big guns, get a artillery.. :) Did someone know – They asking for upload personal ID copy or passport for verification after create account/purchase??
Not for everybody, I paid with PayPal from EU country, and they asked for nothing, if you are US I think they ask only, or if you pay by CC.
You need to give valid details I believe. If your account is flagged as fraudulent they will ask for ID. I am from the UK and have not been asked for ID for anything.
They only require ID proof from high risk countries, like: USA, South America and Asia.
I’m not sure why they would classify USA as ‘high risk’. I’m American, but I rarely see any fraud from the US as a web host.
Chris
Compared to EU law US laws are rather at a lowe level. Especially when it comes to responsibility of users and payment enforcement. This is much easier to handle within the EU. That’s why USA, South America and Asia are classified as high risk countries.
I believe Ireland is classified as high-risk for some reason.
Not sure what Ireland has to do with that. Within the Eu you have a common legal payment framework. Besides that the VAT applicability is simple. Both are not the case with countries outside the EU. The company is just trying to “protect” its equity by having customers that are from abusiness administration perspective solvent customers as payment can be enforced.
People from Ireland purchasing from OVH.ie have to provide ID.
Then again, Ireland is one of the PIIGS-countries. I would call that risky for a reason.
Yes. I was (automatically) asked for digital IDs of my data.
Only after I uploaded those for the second ime, a living person contacte dme… to inform that the offer is for EU residents only.
I still don’t know why I have sent all those documents photos.
Ordered one yesterday, I wonder when it will be provisioned. Excellent for remote backup storage using duplicity.
Next Tuesday most likely
Doesn’t look really crowded, yet. :) – http://weathermap.ovh.net/gravelines
“*: Availability subject to validation of your order and within the limits of available stocks.
Usage: Personal server. Not for resale. Limited to 3 servers per person or per company.
Exclusively available for residents of the European Union only. ”
Well, so much for that.
I would not take that into account much, except for the 3 servers per person, and the EU restriction.
If it says: “3 servers per person or per company”, and “personal server”, I think those statements are basically contradicting each other a bit, I mean if it’s personal only, how can companies use it?
Anyway I find this restriction good, because there are many people out there wanting to resell these, you get 100 of them for 300 euro or something, and then you started selling them at 20 euro a piece, that is not really fair, and I think a lot of ‘business’ oriented people did that, the limitation was not in place in the first day, as I remember.
> If it says: “3 servers per person or per company”, and “personal server”, I think those statements are basically contradicting each other a bit, I mean if it’s personal only, how can companies use it?
They probably mean that companies can use it but cannot resell it. So if you want to use it as bastion host, apt repo, whatever — fine, just don’t rent it and then rent out to a customer of yours.
It can be a not-for-profit company not using it for commercial means. That’s still “personal”.
If I purchased one of these I would not do so with the intention of reselling. That being said, I quoted that to touch on the fact that the offer seems to be valid only if you live in the European Union.
What is this post doing here? DID ovh request a post here?
I think Liam decided to add this as on paper I guess this is the ultimate low end box
Too bad you can’t even get one.
I kinda recommended they do :P lol
We would like to see a cpu intensive cheap server ? because there are not a single one
If you can make 4x3ghz i5 cores kimsufi dedicated with 10gb sata, 750GB bandwidth for 15$ i will buy
forgot to say: with 1GB Ram
yeah that won’t happen
I would like to purchase but am in the US and am not comfortable sending my ID or passport. Is it possible to pay through a verified PayPal account instead of through a credit card? I do not see how to do that on the account page where it says to send my ID and utility bill to customer service. Thank you.
Offer is EU customers only ;(
*: Availability subject to validation of your order and within the limits of available stocks.
Usage: Personal server. Not for resale. Limited to 3 servers per person or per company.
Exclusively available for residents of the European Union only.
Thanks. I didn’t see that posted in the original offer. They said to use the IE site if it was for US, and in the order form US was a selectable country. I guess I missed the part where it said EU only.
They really need to update the main post that this offer is only available if you live in the European Union. H
Better yet, delete this.
I’ve put a little warning.
how many day i have to wait ? I bought it at friday with my credit card and I don’t have any update :(
No answer :(
Is this the same for everyone ?
Bought one as well, just a moment ago. I think they don’t work on weekends. The payment is still pending.
Normally automated but they are having to build and rack the servers, hook the systems up and all the usual – I rang them after ordering three on thursday, they said it will be a long wait, next week, and the forum thread said tuesday next week.
We cant complain at the price, just let them do their thing, they are usually 1 hour setup when stock is good
yes ofc we can say nothing about this services
they got alot amount of order (i still thinking ALL OF THEIR SERVER)
we just can wait, and i just noticed that my payment from paypal was pending and need authorization when i check it today, i order and paid it 2 days ago and it still pending until now i post this
the problem is that I have done 2 tickets about the process .I mean if I have to wait how long I have to wait? I mean I have to have an answer from the company .I know something about 10 days but even at my orders i’ts not in process or something .
But from friday that I order it .I have no answer .
Hi George , I am exactly in the same situation with you.I have ordered Friday, There is nothings in control panel it says Number of dedicated servers :0 . I have also opened a tictek asking how long should I wait , or is this normal to have nothing in panel. No answer..nothing..Ticket opened saturday morning and now monday 18:00 no answer, no email no update or info with email.??? .Please update here, if you get something different..Thanks..
Hello Ulas,
I have already send them 4 support tickets they are forwarding it to the manger but I have no answer even for the manager .
I know that it’s a very cheap service ,but if the can’t sell it normally they have to stop selling .
I have nothing in panel too . I can’t find even the order !!!!
I will try to post to the forum of ovh too,plz to the same.
And i will update you from here if i will have any news …
i went ahead and placed the order..
last time i was able to place an order for special edition via france site.. i already have an verified ID with them. lets see if the order comes through or now.. keeping my fingers crossed :P
I have been able to place on kimsufi.com and order too waiting to see if its get through. I am from Mauritius a non-Eu too
Ugh… Why even bother posting this if it’s only for EU customers and the majority of people on LEB are not? I already placed an order and verified myself so let’s see what they see next…
It was for all to begin with when it was posted, but OVH changed it to EU only after about 24 hours of receiving orders.
Because the EU restriction was added later than this post was made. And still, a 3 EUR dedi even if EU-only is still notable news, the EU is a huge area, it’s not like it is limited to one small country only.
I think you’ll find there are lot of EU people on LEB. That’s a very nice “America is the only place that matters” attitude you have there.
I’m actually Canadian. If this was only for customers living outside the EU then everyone in the EU would be complaining instead.
Just like we complain everytime when we need to pay VAT and you don’t “why even bother posting this as it’s over 7$ for EU members” correct? :)
@Nick
1. “Why even bother posting this”
2. “I already placed an order”
Seriously.
I am happy that news was posted here, I know about that offer from this site. Sadly on IT sites from my country (in EU) there was almost no info about that.
dude, u live in an ice cave and complain that it is not available for you?!?!
btw. u might be surprised, but EU has over 500 million citizens.
And believe me, many of us are here, on LEB.
this turned out to be “one hell of a scam by Polish”.
What? Why scam and what have Poles to do here? OVH is from France
they are Polish!
No, they’re French, and it’s definitely not a scam.
Definitely French. Not a scam. I’ve had servers with them before. I can’t get my head around why you think they’re a scam.
If you can’t even distinguish between countries and nationalities within the EU, stop using the word scam.
The EU only claim is NOT true. I am a non-EU customer, I had a Kimsufi while back for 14 Euro or sth. Now I got this, my account is non-EU and validated company account, didn’t pay any VAT either, and got it from Kimsufi.fr
@prokurist For us other non-eu, it was canceled. You lucky one maybe? And its hard to get a refund.
We’ll see. So far no cancellation, but didn’t recieve a server either. I sent them passport scan, utility bill etc the last time I had a server with them, and had a 2G back when it was 14 Euros. Those annoying weirdos better not cancel my order.
why you don’t accept skrill?
I can’t buy.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE EU. THEY WILL LET YOU APPLY WITH A U.S. ADDRESS, THEN THEY WANT DOCUMENTATION, DRIVERS LICENSE, ETC. AND YOU WONT GET THE ACCOUNT. THEY DON’T RESPOND TO E-MAIL. TAKE A HINT.
Stop shouting!
You are correct, my SHOUTING didn’t work as everyone in the messages below tried to get an account and wasted their time. It only proves people ignore any comment that doesn’t fit into what they want. :-/
Has anyone actually seen delivery of this yet? Mine has been stuck at “We manually check your payment” on both my 2 orders since Friday. I’m from the UK so it’s not the EU restriction thing.
then we all got the answer from u….. we all still waiting for it to be ready, i was think that maybe it have problem with my payment and asking the paypal but it was on the OVH one that still pending the payment
Strange, my payment processed automatically when I ordered on the 26th from the UK site. Payment via paypal was confirmed about 2 minutes after the order. I’ve still not seen mine yet though. They seem to keep pushing back the delivery times :/
maybe….. but mine was pending… the status was “waiting for authorization” at the moment before i ask to the paypal, i think i got some limitation of my cc or something kind of authorization from me, but have ask them and they told me it was pending by OVH
Ordered one Friday. Did the account verification mambo, approved and now have payment options.
Got this along with the approval today. “Please note the Kimsufi range of servers is not yet available to US and Canadian customers.” I’m in Canada.
I have a Kimsufi 24G since 2011 and I am non EU.
Ordered and paid for a Kimsufi 16G. Hopefully they accept my order.
just got emailed that mine was canceled because non EU resident
something that was all talking about but really make sad
Ordered on friday and I got payment confirmation as well and paypal also show as completed. But my invoice shows all the lines as cancelled. When checked with support, they said its available for EU customers only.
Need to check for the Refund. I’m from India.
If you had read the messages above you wouldn’t be waiting and hoping you will get your money back. ;-)
got the refund today :)
yeah, just got informed too right now that it was restricted to EU only
if they’re cannot handle too much order, i suppose they remind us at first time
not after they publish it
this is only make them bad reputation for future, before their publish about this promo i still think they are the best and valued dedi server that can we can trusted, but i will review all of it…. loooking for other dedicated even got more price but more quality and services too
It’s getting stupid now, the time I signed up was 25/26th practically six days and nothing, no emails, signed up and it said 24 hours, but I dont mind waiting, but 6 days seems excessive
It does note, that delivery time is 1-10days.
are u EU Resident ?
Same here… I think they’re waiting on parts :/
Same here. Has your order status gone beyond “We manually check your payment”?
Mines stuck on that aswell.
All new orders show “We manually check your payment” they verify the payment just before they hand other the server.
You will also be happy to know that all orders made via paypal have been cancelled and refunded!
I ordered on July 27th and my payment was received on July 30th.
According to the order status, the server is done but the operating system (Ubuntu 12.04) hasn’t been installed yet.
Also the setup fee (0€) is not processed yet(?).
My order has just progressed to this also, after being on “We manually check your payment” since July 27th
what exact ATOM model did you get with this offer?
It varies I think. I’ve had 2-3 different 2G servers from OVH, and they all had different versions.
It varies I think. I’ve had 2-3 different 2G servers from OVH, and they all had different versions..
Thank you! Do you remember what models they were? I would like to know what are possibilities while I am waiting for mine :)
More over , pay attention to the new limit : it’s 3 servers / owners and NOT for resales.
I sent them a ticket to ovh.pt (the portuguese division) and they reply in a few hours, they were honest and told they were having unexpected issues and don’t have an exact date when the new servers will be up, still setting up the new things on the new data center, so what we can do is wait.
Not sure if it was the most smart thing to do, start selling servers without having everything working, but still for that price it will worth the wait!
As long as they have it up by early next week I won’t hold it against them, smart business move on their part.
as long as they fit in 10 days its fine. Anyways if they know that they have big backlog and problems they could stop selling them or write some information on the website.
I’m wondering if they are gonna keep this price for like forever – they are selling it already for a week in this price. If it’s not just a limited-time SALE it is gonna shake the market and make most VPSs virtually uneconomical.
The smallest configuration was 10 EUR before the pricing update (and it was available worldwide), I’d say most VPSes lost the battle long ago even in comparison to that.
Order failed :((
I’m outside of EU
Nothing to loose, really, over 10 days no provision, nothing from OVH, they even not give a date or time etc, all going blind,no body knows :)
OVH, GoDaddy,1&1 = EVIL, Better keep away from that companies
I know that Godaddy is evil, but care to elaborate on OVH and 1&1?
You will see it bit later from feedbacks :)
OVH is awesome in my opinion. Not sure what they think they’re doing at the moment.. I did send a ticket, after 5 days of order, they said my order is still to be verified manually.
Anyone received their server yet?
They provision as Xmas gift :D
If I order one now I *might* get it in time for the office secret santa!
I ordered 3 of these servers midweek from ovh uk as £10/month for 3 dedicated servers of any spec is an awesome deal, not sure what to do with them yet but by reading above comments probably plenty of time to think.
They’ve now also cancelend my order (ordered on 25-7) even though I’m living in the EU.
They say it’s because there was a bug in they’re Paypal implementation which could have been used for fraudulent orders…
Sounds like a pile of crap to me covering up some screw up on they’re side.
I am still waiting for them to cancel mine, I ordered also on the 25th, and the payment has been accepted by PayPal, but I received no e-mail from them yet
It’s not a bug, some people made multiple accounts but it would have been very easy for them to remove duplicates, but I think they can’t deliver, I mean I have heard nobody receive their server since like 3-4 days ago
Being a EU-citizen I was just called and asked “did you order it”? Afterwards I got an E-Mail containing a Username but no Server yet :)
I ordered the cheapest one, and I called the next day. They said they were overwhelmed by the demand and they would cancel my order since it would take too long to deliver… That was last week:(
Hi,
Your order has been cancelled. It is no longer possible to use PayPal to sign up for our Kimsufi range. You will need to place a new order and pay by card.
Regards,
All I can say is, wtf?
Probably a knee-jerk reaction to the likely loads of chargebacks they were getting on Paypal from lack of delivery
True. Well I ordered via card, lets see how long this takes.
There was a post on the french board by OVH where they said that they are no longer accepting paypal due to abuse by resellers ordering tons of these cheap servers with multiple paypal accounts.
GG WP
NO COMMUNICATION JUST A CANCELED ORDER THAT WAS PENDING FOR 9 DAYS NOW THEY WANT US TO PAY WITH CREDIT CARDS WHEN THEY JUST GOT FUCKING HACKED A MONTH AGO?
ROFL SUCK A COCK OLES AND OVH I’LL SAVE MY CC FROM YOU INSECURE SERVERS AND POOR SYS ADMINS.
@Tom
First: It does say that it can take 1 to 10 days.
Second: They do not store payment details on their servers as they use a third party payment processor.
I am non-EU, and trying to order from http://www.kimsufi.com/fr/ and it is prompting me for payment via CC ? I dont mind the waiting, but if they accept the order will they deliver or they would cancel the order as I am outside EU ?
Cheers
I just got this email from ovh UK
Dear customer,
unfortunately, your orders for kimsuf server had to be cancelled, because of an issue with Paypal.
You can find an explanation here from our managing director:
http://forum.ovh.co.uk/showpost.php?p=47317&postcount=1
you can go ahead and place another order via bank card, though we’ve closed the ordering for the ks-2g for a few days/weeks, as we’ve already received 15000 orders.
In any case, this is not an offer, it’s the model that will be selling for the next year, so you’ll be able to get one very soon anyway.
My order for 1x 16G has been cancelled. Not email from OVH, but I checked my paypal payment status has been changed to cancelled.
my server is allready pingable. i traced the route and it is going to Gravelines.
hope to get it tomorrow :)
I can report the same for one of my orders, while the other still lacks a domain (it was placed 20 minutes and 150 order IDs later)
Have yet to receive any access details etc.
My order for the smallest & the largest was also cancelled – I have been paying them for a year with this card.
You recently made a payment by cbDelayed for purchase order number xxxxx on our website, and we thank you.
Unfortunately, this payment could not be validated.
All I can say is.. I think ovh/kimsufi have messed up on this one. They’ve done a bad decision and made their company look like crap.
My order has been cancelled because they weren’t able to fulfil it in the 10 days, as the contract declared to be the maximum amount of time. I am very disappointed because I would’ve waited longer if they only let me. Now I have to look for a new company, since they won’t have that particular server (the smallest one) until the next month.
After 10 days they told me the payment couldn’t be verified which is bull as i have other ovh servers paid monthly from the same account, looks like a publicity / data mining exercise after their sercurity breach.
I reordered with a CC and server was delivered within 12 hours. Have been with them for more than 1 year and I am non EU :P
Which exact country you are from? And I think you ordered the KS16G, so did you get one 2TB HDD or 2x1TB? Also, which CPU model?
2TB. No Raid. i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz.
I re-ordered with debit card, and it got canceled because it couldn’t be validated! stupid.
Now status shown – SOLD OUT – on starter deal :)
Order(1 x KS2G) cancelled after pending for 11days.
Mail states ‘Unfortunately, this payment could not be validated.’ , no other info.
I’m an EU citizen and payed with paypal, so I don’t really know what and why couldn’t be validated(and what took 11days?)?!
Zero communication, zero info about anything, wouldn’t recommend anyone.
Same crap here, also contacted support thre times before cancellation, definitely a cheap pr/data mining exercise.
They simply got much more orders than be able to handle and kick out today for non validated reason
Simply *took* too many orders you mean which is exactly my point.
I ordered on the 27th, others i know on the 26th none were fulfilled but they continued to accept orders for further 10 days.
a) The offer came right after the bad publicity from data breach
b) how hard is it to set a stock limit to prevent ‘too many orders’
Someone described about more than 15000 orders they got within few days so they simply not ready for that amount of hardware resources, and may be not await that huge response for their offer :) Nobody knows, but seems it is
Our gaming clan used to have one of their servers (in France), and it lagged all day and night, to the point we binned it for a Leaseweb server.
So i thought, hey lets try this offer out (for a dedicated LAMP system), and like everyone else i get shafted in the ass, by these rogues. If Lowend has any sense they will never post anything from this shoddy company ever again.
After the whole Iniz fubar moving servers and constant maintenance, its making for a real fun 2 months.
+1 on iniz – I was on holidays when i got the email telling me that 91% of iniz customers fancied a spot of downtime had great fun administering the server from my phone using connectbot over a gprs connection in a remote area in the west of ireland.
Mabye everyone has been paying with paypal since they got hacked and they they want to change that as paypal charge a fee.
Just asked today what is happening with my order (10 days ago).
Current estimated time 4/5 weeks due to lack of CPUs
summary of the current situation:
1) you can only order if you are a resident of the EU
2) paypal orders were canceled because of the paypal fees AND a lot of guys tried to shit OVH with multi paypal accounts so that they can buy more than 3 machines per person and resell them. paypal orders were canceled. they only accept credit card, bank transfer.
3) they are getting 1000 pieces of hardware per week from intel at the moment. they try to get more but it is unclear.
4) the costumers who allready have a domain name assigned and have pingable machines have to wait further because the final install will happen when they have their new connectivity lines ready.
And they cancel your server if you’re paying with debit/credit card as-well :) Mine got canceled because they couldn’t validate my CC
you’re right in some cases they cannot validate the cc, even in the case when you allready was hosting and paying products with them before. that’s the only thing i cannot understand.
Why not a pay from different CC instead different PP accounts? Its the same :)
because creating a lot of paypal accounts is easier than getting a lot of ccs.
Not for everyone :) And PayPal asking for register CC with them when create new account, without it account not fully activated and valid, you cannot register same CC on multiple PP accounts. Need a new card each time.
you can get a virtual cc for under 2 dollar to validate your paypal account. after validation you fill the new account with another paypal account. that was it :)
Why has KS16 from 4×3.1ghz decereased to 4×2.8ghz ?
https://www.ovh.co.uk/dedicated_servers/kimsufi.xml
i don’t know. that’s not the only change. i think they offered 2 hdds with ks16 before (raid) and now you have only 1 hdd.
http://web.archive.org/web/20130701224938/http://www.ovh.co.uk/dedicated_servers/kimsufi.xml
compared to before the price dropped, they went from i3 to i5, and the price is way better. all in all that was a great change for the costumer side. i am just missing the 2 hdds in raid.
Because someone went and edited that page to say this instead of that. Seriously, what kind of question is it, “Why”? Too hard to see what they’re doing here? Yes it did decrease, yes they now sell a worse server for the same price (the RAID part mentioned above is also true). Still seriously want to ask “but why”?
It seems like very unserious behavior from a supposedly known and established provider like OVH.
I called them 3 days after the purchase and they told me that everything is fine with the payment.
However after a few more days I saw a topic on lowendtalk that they’re cancelling all orders made with PayPal.
I called them again (it was about the 10th day of purchase) and they confirmed that the payment was cancelled.
I’ve been waiting for 10 days for my server, and they did not even notified me for the cancellation for all that time. I’ve received an e-mail today (on the 12th day) that the payment was cancelled.
Are they selling these servers or not ?
Customer support seems to be taking a while to get back to me, and my order has been processing for the past 13 days so far… So much for me trying to get this set up quickly.
So I ordered one before they went out of stock. Delivered in 4 days, brand new hard disk, network speeds are very impressive. Only planned to use it as an rsync server for all my VPS but have installed Ubuntu desktop too and it runs pretty quickly. Very happy with it.
No ID verificatiin from UK paid by debit card.
My son would like to host his own server for an online game (minecraft). We are based in the UK. Could you please provide me with details as to what is suitable.
Many Thanks
Please describe into more detail. If you are looking for minimum requirements of Minecraft then you can easily host a server on 256MB RAM. But it won’t be able to handle alot of players. The more RAM the more players and less lagg. 1GB RAM is enough for 12players if not a little more.
This will be perfectly fine for a decent sized Minecraft Server. Minecraft servers hosted in EU are good connection from the UK, if it’s hosted in US you’re gunna get some bad ping/lagg.
Is there a way to order for users living in Australia?
No, not directly. Resellers also aren’t allowed for KS 2013. EU only.
Stop!! Please read this before you buy !!
Order placed 12days ago – telephoned this morning to ask “where is my server” – answer we are waiting for chips from Intel – we plan to deliver a 1000 servers a week BUT in weeks – also note – the words used “this server is for personal use – not professional”
When pressed the impression is “like Peter Pan” from Never Never Land .. currently cancelling and I do not want to read about how low OVH prices are compared to VPS’s in these reviews .. the other postings are real and exist , anyone can charge 2,99 and then not deliver ..
After 15 days without news, and after being written the payment was ok and wait a max of 10 days, today I called on the phone: they told me my order was canceled. No explanation, canceled. No email, nothing. If you care you chould call and inform yourself.
They made an offer they cannot sustain, so the made a “select all”->Delete on all orders. And fuck you stupid customer.
The rep on the phone told me a max of 1 server per month is allowed for each country. Hope we was simply stupid. They only mantain the 3x cost offer at 9.99 to make you switch there. Not 3x memory, not 3x space, not 3x power.
This was all cheap advertising…
I did phone up OVH/Kimsufi and they just keep’t referring me to look at the Kimsufi forums. So what’s the point in having a commercial questions phone line when they keep referring you to use the forums?
the reasons why Adam the forum is to delay you further – is they have your money – think about it possibly 2000+ or more 3month payments of approx 10eu / 12usd , if 50% payments just ‘give up ‘ beyond 60+ days , that is 10,000 eu just for a single post on LEB and all the pro- marketing posts from the ‘me too’ / ‘ovh is cheaper’ . OVH 2.99/month and ‘Shangri La’ have one thing in common – both are fantasy – cancel now and ask yourself the question “could I build power and host a server of that spec for 2,99eu a month” – you kno the answer indeed as I did and could kick myself now for wasting 12 days ..
pay the money to a good VPS or dedicated server supplier and sleep at night
Biggest bullsh*t ever! Waited a week to get back an email that the payment could not be processed and order has been canceled. I will stick to Hetzner or other providers. I believe their priorities are the bigger priced servers no these low end ones but their support and lack of communication is awful!
They used to be really good prior to this offer :/
My order came through. It is awesome! I love it!
few days delay your order?
I want to use it for a month, I will pay 10$,who can give me one!!!
Just got mine a few hours ago. Ordered 27/07
Time to test it.
Didn’t get mine yet, order was on 26/07/.
That’s strange, I ordered on the 27th and got mine on the 14th of August :S
They’re doing it in order of payment acceptance date which is frankly absurd. I ordered on the 27th july, but my payment was not accepted by them until the 5th august.
I payed directly with paypal but payment was retracted by issues on their site so I payed with CC on 5th of august. This means I’ll have to wait a long time -_-
Well, they have been stuck for a month at orders placed on July 26th. What a totally incompetent company!
OK, so it took almost exactly 2 months but the 4€-machine has finally been delivered.
It’s a dual core 1,86Ghz Atom N2800 with Hyperthreading + 64bit.
The HDD is a 7200rpm 500GB Toshiba SATA 6GB/s
You also get an IPv6/64 subnet.
Throughput looks great so far, more than 10MByte/s up and down.
I’ve got my server for 4 days now (ordered on 26/07, payment accepted 13/8)
I’m very happy about the throughput (never had less than 100mbit in both directions).
I even got a free cpu upgrade appearantly (I was promised only 1 core @1.6Ghz);
model name : Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N2800 @ 1.86GHz
cpu cores : 2
cpu threads : 4
Hey kimsufi … any chance of me getting this server now ?

kimsufi extra fee for setup. so this is not cheap now.
here it is low price dedicated server
We purchased a testing server from this so called hosting company, the server is totally useless for 10 days!
I rebooted the server and it will not boot, they claimed kernel panic, ok I asked for rescue mode, so that I can login and fix the kernel panic, no they are not responding to any of trouble ticket with anything to solve the problem, submitted over 10 trouble tickets their answer was just annoying and vague, like some random auto respond.
Ok, got frustrated and re-created the server destroying all the previous content to start from scratch, server was successfully created, but no password to login…. submitted tons of email to their customer services, nothing… nobody seem to be reading it.
We are waiting for over 9 hours for these people to respond back… no they won’t.
So if you are reading this, get yourself prepare to spend less to buy a server and loss revenue whenever your server goes down.
I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS STUPID SERVICE TO ANYONE, and I will continue to post this review on all Review and hosting websites so that others can see and read their wacho services that they offer and be ready for their BS.
BUYER BEWARE!
