LiquidHost - $7/Month 2GB OpenVZ in Los Angeles, Lenoir and Seattle

Alexander, from LiquidHost, is back with yet another special offer, this time for the holiday season. They have launched a new 2GB special plan for this occasion, and have also recently launched a new location: Los Angeles.

2GB – Special

256MB – Seattle

  • 256MB RAM
  • 128MB vSwap
  • 20GB Disk Space
  • 150GB Bandwidth
  • 1xIPv4 Address
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM
  • $15/year
  • Order Link

LiquidHost have been in business since 2011 and celebrated their one year anniversary with a special offer back in August. They were last featured on LowEndBox in October, but since then, as mentioned above, they have expanded to Los Angeles and now provide services from the ColoCrossing Datacenter. Their Seattle nodes, use the Xeon E3 1270 CPU but their Lenoir nodes utilize 2x L5420 Xeon Quad Core CPU’s. They will soon be launching a free DNS service for their customers and a monitoring service which we mentioned in their last offer but was delayed due to the fact Alex has been unwell.

Alexander, the owner, is very active on LowEndTalk. They do not offer refunds. IRC is allowed, as long as it is for legal purposes. SPAM, DDoS attacks and malware, are amongst items which are strictly prohibited from their network/nodes. As always you can view their terms of service for more information.

From why experience with LiquidHost you can purchase more bandwidth at a decent price.

  3. 150GB Bandwidth is too low..

    December 31, 2012 @ 2:58 am | Reply
    • At that price, I don’t think it’s too low. You can always purchase more bandwidth at a reasonable rate. :)

There’s a dead link on your website: http://liquid-solutions.biz/leb.html
    Also, are HDD upgrades available?

    December 31, 2012 @ 9:04 am | Reply
    • And that is also dead –> http://blog.liquid-solutions.biz/

      December 31, 2012 @ 2:20 pm | Reply
    • Hey there,

@Freek Yes, HDD upgrades are available and the rates will differ from location to location etc.; so it’s best to drop in a ticket. :)

@Freek and @Zahra As for the dead website links, they will be fixed in the near future.

Let me know if you have any further queries.

What OS do we get? And why do they mention “unlimited MySQL” — if it’s a VPS presumably I can install any DB (I want PosgreSQL) and manage it however I see fit.

    December 31, 2012 @ 9:44 pm | Reply
    • Hey Ian,

You have a choice of many OS’s, we have most of the popular templates already however if you find one you like from http://wiki.openvz.org/Download/template/precreated (or any other OpenVZ template place really..) that we don’t seem to have you can open a ticket and we’ll put it up for you.

As for the “unlimited MySQL” – we do not mention that simply because as you said you can do what you see fit with your VPS provided you abide by our TOS. :)

Let me know if you have any further questions/queries/etc. :)

Great to see that you have a choice, would be nice to provide that link (or an opportunity to select) DURING the ordering process.

Actually, you DO mention “unlimited MySQL”, which is why I got confused in the first place. Here’s what my order page says:

        Level 1
        Disk Space: 5GB
        Bandwidth: 100GB
        MySQL DB: Unlimited
        Addon domains: Unlimited
Parked domains: Unlimited $12.00 USD Annually

        Level 2
        Disk Space: 20GB
        Bandwidth: 300GB
        MySQL DB: Unlimited
        Addon domains: Unlimited
        Parked domains: Unlimited

It would be nice to see the OS and the memory in the summary (and perhaps NOT to see any “unlimited xSQL” bullet point since this is a VPS offer)

It sounds like you have a good offer, but the ordering process needs to be more informative and not let a new client hang over unclear information.

        • Hey Ian,

We have pretty much all of the pre-created OpenVZ templates in our cluster already hence not showing that link to clients; however we will take that into consideration. We will probably give details about that in an FAQ area.

As for the “unlimited MySQL” – that is simply from our shared hosting plans not VPS hosting plans, there are a few links allowing you to choose different groups of products under the “Browse Products & Services” heading. “Holiday specials” is also there. Most people are familiar with that layout since many other providers use it, this LEB offer includes “Order Now” links which you are really meant to use.

Thank you for your feedback, let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you. :)

          Best Regards,

    • Hey there,

There are no nodes down at the moment. There was a brief network outage a few days back at our LA location which was fixed shortly after (just around the 2 hour mark as you mentioned). I believe we have addressed this in a ticket either way.

Let me know if you are still experiencing issues etc. :)

    • We are having technical difficulties with our main website. I am working on getting it back online, no matter that is is 3:53AM over here :)

Should have everything resolved in the next couple of hours.

Also, none of our VPS nodes are affected by this, neither is the solusvm panel, only our main website.

Regarding your 2GB package, are the hard drives on at least a RAID-1 setup? How much are extra IPv4? Thanks in advance.

    January 5, 2013 @ 10:34 am | Reply
    • Hello Sean,

All our nodes use server-grade hardware. Our servers are either configured with RAID10 or RAID1 and all the storage is RAID protected :)

      • As I forgot to include it in the previous post – the extra IPs are 2$ per month or 1.5$ per month if paid yearly, with proper justification only, of course.

Careful with this service. The worst I’ve ever met. No have technical support. I have a crashed server 3 weeks ago and the answer is that they have no time for resolve out the problem.

    And my money also.

    • Well, I can’t see your opened ticket anywhere. Please include ticket ID in here so I can check and investigate this issue.

On the other side – all our nodes are up and running perfectely fine, so if you have a “crashed” VPS, it is most likely due some configuration that you’ve done yourself and since this is unmanaged services, we are not obligated in resolving your configuration issues. However, as I already said – I will be glad to take a look onto it and help with what I can.

  16. I have a question:

    Hi,

May I know what is the price for extra IP?

    January 27, 2013 @ 8:58 am | Reply
    • Hey there,

I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier. For future reference, and if you are still interested, we charge $2 per month for additional IPs (each), or 1.50$ per month if it is paid yearly. Also, we will require proper justification for it. To purchase them, just drop in a ticket and we will sort it out for you. :)

Once again, I do apologise for the (very) late response.
