LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
And this is Xen-HVM, nice offer.
250MB memory/512MB swap
i think you mean 256MB. Also in the WHT thread, it says price excludes 19% VAT.
@LEA – Several Netherlands companies I’ve been dealing with considered intensive communication and getting to know each other as part of their way to seek for a long term loyal customers :)
Okay, not laughable transfer like on the other offer, 2TB here, “now we’re talking business” :)
E-Mail ordering is a complete joke though. As is “1x IPv6”, come on, no one asks you to give a /64 or /48 to a VPS (given that is not quite possible with the current management tools), but make that at least 4 or 16 addresses, it’s not like you have a scarcity of them.
Maybe they are trying to conserve IPv6 address as well, just in case your inter-galactic friend from an alternative dimension of a different time frame wants to ping you from a unique IPv6 address! :)
But I agree for all the earthlings it just does not make sense to not give out at least 16 addresses for each VPS.
Included in all our VPS offers:
SolusVM Control Panel
1 IPv4 address, additional IPv4 addresses are free (ripe conditions)
1 IPv6 address, additional IPv6 addresses are free
Live bandwidth stats
Reverse DNS
(c) WHT offer page.
So you just need to ask. And while they don’t issue a /64, I got 8 more /128s during setup.
Reverse DNS is very a useful feature if I need to run any serious mail server.
Quite a good deal, since the prices of YISP went up…
Think i’m gotta try them out for a little web/mail server :)
Wonder if we can have FreeBSD though, often possible with Xen + “Other OSes are available on request”
Based on their wht thread looks like *BSDs are possible.
And do you know if it would make sense to run a BSD under Xen? As I guess the main host will be running GNU/Linux, might be better to run a Linux distro?
Why not? it’s Xen-hvm (not PV), shouldn’t be a problem. rootbsd.net runs *BSD under Xen-HVM which is under linux.

“Order: Please send an e-mail to: support@liteserver.nl” – this is not nice.
Does anyone have any experience on their vps plans?
Currently on a trial vps, their support is fast and the servers are fast. The network connection is great and I have a nice latency from the united kingdom. You should give these guys a go, about the email ordering, it’s not a big deal so why complain about it?
E-mail ordering – yes, it is a turn-off.
Btw I also heard that you can only pay via Bank Transfer, is that true?
Nope.
I use paypal.
Btw, how to verify NL company based on VAT/CoC number?
Via http://www.vatcheck.eu you can check a VAT number
Looks like there are some questions about e-mail ordering and how we assign IPv6 addresses.
I know that a /64 is very normal in these days. Unfortunately, the panel (SolusVM) which we are using doesn’t support /64 allocation for each VPS. So for now we have a /64 assigned to each node (shared IPv6 space).
If you need more than 1 IP, no problem – just ask for additional IPv6 addresses and they will be assigned.
About e-mail ordering, we like to have personal/direct contact with all our clients. A lot of NL companies are doing also business via e-mail, so we are not the only one ;-)
With automatic systems you get things like “What is your client number”, we like to avoid that.
I really don’t see why e-mail ordering is an issue?
FreeBSD is possible. If needed you have the possibility to do the complete installation yourself.
Payments via PayPal are possible!
@Liteserver:
1. Do your VPS VMs support tun/tap?
2. For a foreigner, will the VAT apply? As a non-Dutch national do I need to pay that 19% tax?
3. Can I get a 100 mb file for checking the bandwidth? latency seems to be fine.
Try to help
1. it is not openvz, so it will support tun/tap.
2. VAT just for european
250MB memory/512MB swap i think you mean 256MB. Also in the WHT thread, it says price excludes 19% VAT.
Using their vps for several months, there was only one reboot. Network is fast and stable.
Ordering by email might seem inconvenient at first, but emails are answered much faster than on most other vps providers other there.
@Liteserver:
Is offer only for new clients? ;)
Without ticketing system (WHMCS), how can you handle billing, termination, etc?
The less paid application running, the less price applicable !
Due the high demand we decided to keep this offer valid till the end of February (28-02-2011)!
It’s still possible to order one of these VPSes with 50% lifetime discount.
We signed up 3 weeks ago. Nice thing is that you don’t need domain name so if you need for example a file server this is good. Or maybe you need a private site without domain name.
Uptime is 100% since signup. Owner responds to emails and explains well to questions.
I would like to add, is there another vps host that don’t need domain name? We would like to synchronize our files.
None of the VPSes I had ever “needed” a domain name.
Most likely you simply don’t understand that you can enter whatever you want into the hostname field when ordering.
After you order, they just give you the VPS IP address. The “domain” you entered or not, is not used anywhere.
It is the same for 99% of providers, i.e. those which use WHMCS+SolusVM.
Yeah, at the start I thought the same. but now I learned that I can put any crap in that forms xD
Is your TUN/TAP enabled by default?
Yes, TUN/TAP is enabled by default.
We’re using Xen HVM so each VPS has it’s own dedicated resources and OS.
