The webhosting, email hosting or reseller hosting services used by the Subscriber will be limited, suspended or canceled immediately and without notice if some or all of these conditions are
    encountered:
 Execute long-running, stand-alone, unattended server-side processes, bots or daemons
 Run any type of web spiders or indexers
 Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network
 Run, host, or store any P2P client, tracker, software, server, files, content or application,
    including bittorrent
 Participate in any P2P or file-sharing networks

So I think the post description is misleading when it consider this as a good option for torrent server.

In this case need to refer Hungarian law, not for DMCA. And not, DMCA stricter than local act of copyright.

What is a cpu unit? How does this compare to the other storage offers in here in terms of $ per gb

    October 10, 2015 @ 1:59 pm | Reply
    • Hi,

Cpuunit is a metric how many cpu time allocated to the VPS: https://openvz.org/Resource_shortage#cpuunits

      October 10, 2015 @ 4:38 pm | Reply
      • Scott:

That number is pointless without knowing the total allocated. What is the total allocated? This is basically just a percent of the total as I understand it…

        October 10, 2015 @ 5:14 pm | Reply
        • This value is a relative limit (ratio), not an absolute limit. VPS with more CPU unit give more CPU time.

    • János:

      Hi,

This is not cpu limit, its cpu units. Cpu limit is a hard, absolute cpu limit, but cpu unit only a relative value, to determine what process will have cpu time first (but, in normal case node are not overloaded, so process not need to compete with each other): https://openvz.org/Resource_shortage#CPU

We don’t store the root password, it only sended out in the mail. This is not good, but many user require it. You can change your password after that with regular passwd command.

I’ve been on the OpenVZ deal for a few days and it’s been working out nicely so far.

The site UI is clean, intuitive and renders nicely, plus the crypto is also up-to-date (TLS 1.2) and there’s a nice selection of distros (including minimal builds) for those of us who like to keep things simple.

I managed to hit a snag signing up because of aggressive anti-abuse mechanisms but my support ticket was responded to fast (first thing Sunday morning) and everything was soon sorted out.

Download speeds to N. America has been between 450-1200kbps but I’ve seen some 2000+ as well so it is virtually as performant as an NL server. The option to pay with Bitcoin is the cherry on top, all things considered the deal is great value for the price :)

I got one of the storage ones to do light torrenting on, really just to make my life easier.
Perfectly happy with it, but then I had no expectations, just wanted it to work and let me do stuff. Got other vps’s before to muck around on and they where torture, couldnt even compile curl on one of them, you couldn’t do anything.
Im no linux person (gawd noooo) so took a bit to get something working, but this…
    https://github.com/dannyti/sboxsetup
    …works like an efn champ!
Dont know how to do speed tests but one big thing I got was getting a rough average of 8.9meg a second down and when downing about 2meg up and when not downing it went to 4.8meg for a while before I stopped it. Have no idea if thats good but quite a bit more than I need. One install that I did earlier of rtorrent with a different tutorial (to buggy) was downloading at 20+meg a second, but I had to stop it as it stopped working all the time (that other script is solid). Got the whole 16.8gig in less than half an hour, didnt time it, was cooking. Havent downed much else yet (still to much fun mucking with it) so cant say much more on that.
For just under 4US bucks a month with 200gig and the freedom to muck around (learning a bunch!) Im really happy with it so far.
