They offer a 99.9% Uptime guarantee

I have a couple of vps from a previous offer. I get multiple downtimes every month.
I got some mails recently saying they were going to change some hardware on the host, hope that will fix it.

    • Hi

Can you provide me your IP number, I can check the status of the node and look into it for you.

      Kind regards

I also experienced regular short downtimes at o4.fr node last few months. This wasn’t issue end of 2011 when I got it.

        • We have had to replace the board and the ram in the last week, that node is running stable now and we don’t expect any further issues from it :)

          Kind regards

  2. Hi Camarg, did you submit any tickets? If so, can you give me a ticket number?

It’s most likely from our o4 node that suffered a number of hardware problems that have now been resolved.

      yeah I am @ o4

I must comment that downtime aside, I’m happy with miniVPS

Can we expect to use minivps IPv6 at World IPv6 Day? :) (http://www.worldipv6launch.org/)
If I remember correct Martin said that IPv6 will be available in “first Q of 2012”.

    • We are slowly rolling out IPV6, our SSD nodes are already IPv6 ready and customers on those nodes can apply for IPv6 IP’s, we hope to have rolled out IPV6 on all our FR nodes by world IPv6 Day.

I have had a VPS at miniVPS for a couple of months now, also the 10 bucks a year deal, and I’m very satisfied. Uptime is good and support is responsive too. I am on node o7.fr.minivps.co.uk
However, the post mentions people get 256MB of RAM. I only got 128MB of RAM. Is this an error?

    May 15, 2012 @ 2:34 pm | Reply
    • Spirit:

      That was te old deal:
You’re getting proper ram. That was the old deal.

      • 15GB Disk Space
      • 128MB Ram/256MB Burst
      • 500GB Bandwidth
      • 1 IPV4 Address
      • Full Root Access
      • L0.83/month! (L10/annually)

But some nodes are with 256 MB burst (o4.fr) and some like yours (o7.fr) with 128 MB VSwap.

    • Hello ‘Andy’

Not sure why you’re using that name here but anyway. You submitted a ticket about this to the helpdesk and Simon replied to you quite quickly.

As explained, the ‘standard’ ‘test’ that everyone does isn’t very accurate and doesn’t mean much, however, Simon replied with results from the correct ‘test’ people run:

      dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=8k conv=fdatasync
      8192+0 records in
      8192+0 records out
      536870912 bytes (537 MB) copied, 6.59637 s, 81.4 MB/s

Granted, this isn’t exactly lightning fast however you’re on one of our £10/year VPS specials. I’m afraid, if you’re looking for a lot better resources then you need to increase your budget and/or look elsewhere. Our high end VPS’s offer better resources but not at the same price.

One does have to wonder why we should run these specials for customers. We don’t make any money from them and all they do is cause us grief from the select few customers who expect champaign and truffles.

I am getting tests between 60 – 80 MB/s (as posted above) and I would take as acceptable even some 20 MB/s less, so this really isn’t issue. Apart from some o4.fr downtime lately which is properly addressed and hopefully fixed now I really don’t see anything bad in vps performance. Imho. this is the best OVH vps offer in terms of price vs quality in LEB market at the moment.

I’ve got the 256mb version since december last year. Performance is good, uptime is good and response to support tickets is fast and friendly. Have been some small problems with the node, but always fixed quickly and communicated immediately on twitter/facebook. Really like that open and honest communication :-).

We’re not due to release further ‘batches’ of these plans for a while yet however, these plans do crop up from time to time when terminations and cancellations are processed. Hint: Check tomorrow morning, first thing :)
