LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

MiniVPS - £4.40 ($7) Month 2GB OpenVZ in Maidenhead, UK

Martin, from MiniVPS, informs us that they’ve recently had a lot of customers asking them to run a special 2GB plan, so they’ve came up with the following special plan.

UK Budget VPS

  • 2048MB RAM with vSwap
  • 25GB SAS Raid 10 storage
  • 2 vCPU Cores
  • 400GB Bandwidth
  • 100Mbit Port Speed
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • 10 IPv6 Addresses
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM
  • $7/Month – Order Link
  • Location: Maidenhead, UK

Since September 2011, MiniVPS have been featured on LowEndBox quite a few times. We’ve been told that this offer has been running for a short time now, on both WebHostingTalk and LowEndTalk, and that it has been well received, so stock may be limited. These plans are provisioned on new nodes, running the E3 1230 v2 CPU, and that only have these particular VPS plans hosted on them. I’ve had a look over their previous offers, and the reviews they tend to receive seem to be good (as highlighted on this thread at WebHostingTalk). As always, we would love to hear your reviews!

MiniVPS accept payments via PayPal and Moneybookers (Skrill) They offer a 7 day, no questions asked, money-back guarantee. I’ve had a look at there legal documents and basically it says: “Don’t do anything stupid”. IRC is allowed as long as you ‘behave’. Gameservers are not allowed without prior permission. TOR is not permitted but other types of VPN (pptp, openvpn, etc) are allowed. For further information, have aread of their Acceptable Usage Policy and Terms of Service. Their servers for this offer are located in Maidenhead, UK at the Rapidswitch/Iomart facility.

Like I’ve already mentionned in their previous LEB offer (http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/minivps-6month-1gb-openvz-vps-in-maidenhead-manchester-france/) they are totally awesome!
Uptime for my OpenVZ on their France node: 18:56:32 up 155 days
And only one short network outage so far (~30 minutes) resulting in 99.99% uptime.
If you are looking for a stable and reliable provider, I would stronly recommend them.

“They offer a 7 day, no questions asked, money-back guarantee.”

This is one of the reasons right here is why I would use this company over ChicagoVPS for a 2GB VPS. That, plus all the positive reviews around the web and here.

Anyone run a ‘friends’ only Minecraft server? I know that I need to send in a pre-sales ticket to ask it seems. Just curious if anyone else runs one on their box. Talking 4-8 players max, 512-1536M RAM allocation.

And last, thanks for those who posted uptime… pretty impressive!

Replying to myself. I did get an OK to run Minecraft! Just make sure you ask. They were super quick on the reply too. Thanks, going to get an order in when I get off work.

I have 2 with them, one for DNS and another for various sites. Nothing but good to say in over a year using them.

  9. Sounds interesting. The only reason that kept me back from ordering is the very low disk space on offer.

Tried out lots of different providers from this site, and minivps are the ones I’ve been most impressed with. Great network (rapidswitch) and generally fast servers.

    04:56:20 up 113 days, 20:42, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

Since I first started monitoring a few months ago with pingdom, the only outage has been 2 minutes.

Dont know why.. but, these guys never replied me over here or thru their contact form!

I wonder how their support really handles support queries.

    • Hello. We’ve replied to all queries we’ve had via our contact form. I know this because I’ve done it personally :) 2 were returned to us as undelivered as the address provided wasn’t valid. Perhaps one of them was yours?

Out of interest, are you able to offer 3 or 4gb VPSs? If so, would you be happy for me to run a Minecraft server on one?
    Thanks :)

    • Hi James,

Yes, we can provision larger VPS’s and have done for a number of customers. I think our biggest is a 16GB VPS.
Just drop a ticket in for a quote and we’ll see what we can do :)

  19. We’re temporarily putting a hold on new orders while we get more servers online – we’ve been overwhelmed by the response to this offer and sold out across a few servers within a matter of hours!

Should be back in stock in the next 24 hours! :)

  20. Just a quick note for everyone – we’re provisioning these plans again.

Get them while you can as the last lot went really quickly!

Just wanted to say thanks. Just picked up one of these as my first VPS. Initial speeds look promising (but then I guess I’m one of the first ones on there). A quick dd of 5.2G to /tmp came back at 453MB/s. Not bad at all.

        March 13, 2013 @ 9:02 pm | Reply
        • Yep – I’m aware of that. Not really relevant to whether or not ‘we’ offer it. We are waiting for delegation so I’m afraid in this case its you that’s wrong, Jack :)

          March 13, 2013 @ 9:29 pm | Reply
        • Fair enough you are right Martin ;), Good Luck getting delegation I am having issues but it could be due to me :)

          March 13, 2013 @ 9:30 pm | Reply
        • Patrick Hayward:

Just submit ticket requesting nameserver delegation with your NS included in ticket and ask for it to be forwarded to networking team.

The support had no idea what I was talking about but when it was pushed to networking they did it for v4 & v6.

    Hi,

What is your cpu abuse policy, can I use both cores 100%

    March 13, 2013 @ 4:38 pm | Reply
    • The cpu’s are shared allocation with other users, if you need your own cores and to be able to use them with just your vps, then I would suggest finding a different provider who offers 100% usage.
