James from QualityServers (ex-QuickVPS) has sent me their launch promotion for their OpenVZ-based product on LowEndBox two weeks ago. They have to wait a week because of the new listing criteria (maximum one offer per provider per month). Then the email got lost inside the INBOX so I procrastinated for another week util James poked me again. Anyway. QualityServers/QuickVPS have been offering cheap Xen here since at least April 2010. Now they are branching out to offer OpenVZ plans. With promo code openvzlaunch you can get 60% off life time discount. Their “Bronze” plan is then just £2.70/month (~USD$4.37) with this sign up link.
- 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Is this provider reliable? There have been no comments on this deal, so I am a bit worried.
Hi Jin,
Have a look at the comments on our other deals:

hay, i want to ask about hosting adult site. is it ok for your vps?
Yes that’s fine
Just me adding in a link to the QuickWeb topics so folks can see them:

QuickVPS != QuickWeb 🙂
You could have just edited the comment. I wouldn;t have minded if you included a mention about it. 🙂
These new meds I’;m taking are really causing problems. I spent yesterday watching a 35 gig download come down from my you-know-what-box. Didn;t get squat done.
It’s interesting that this is the third comments. Could have sworn that there wasn;t any others when I made it. The moderation queue get filled yesterday or something?
I bailed on an earlier offer I took up because of slow & erratic I/O; generally sub 10MB/s and all over the place.
I raised a ticket and the response was “it’s stabilised now @ 35MB/s, don’t expect much off a low end box” which was kind of missing the point. If someone’s thrashing the disc then look in to it. Simple.
@ fugoki
Was that on OpenVZ or on Xen?
Hi,
That was Xen, and I stand by what I said – at the <£3 mark we can't offer you 15K SAS drives etc. unfortunately. We are just trialing OpenVZ at the moment on a RAID10 node, whereas our Xen nodes are RAID1, so in theory the IO should be much, much better on this promotion though.
Nobody expects ridiculous performance @ £3 but that has nothing to do with people raping the I/O, has it?
Absolutely not. To combat this, we are starting to roll out better arrays with better IO performance such as the one on this special.
If i/o is poor (or not of the speed I expect haha) on the £3.00 offer, are the 512 and 1 gig plans on a different node?
We have lots of Xen nodes – if you’re not happy with one we can put you on another one.
Just like to add, we offer a 14 day money back guarantee, so if you’re worried about IO speeds or anything else, give us a try and see whether we fit the bill for you. It is our goal to keep our customers for years to come, so we want to make sure you’re completely happy with your purchase.
I bought one just over a month ago. Performance is pretty good, network is pretty good but there has been some uptime problems, with it being down for a few hours at the most. Support is great. Even with the bits of downtime, which you should pretty much expect from a low end VPS, i’d recommend them.
Hi Jamie,
Which node are you on? I don’t think any of our nodes have had several hours of downtime.
According to SolusVM, i’m on XM9.

Promotion code does not apply to software license? cPanel?
No, if you order cPanel your price will be increased after you order for the full £9.50. We have to charge full price for cPanel as we do not make a profit on the licences.
