James from QuickVPS has been trying to post this VPS offer on LowEndBox for the past week. It started out as an upgrade to the previous exclusive offer. You get more space + monthly data for 50 pennies more. £4.50 was right on the threshold of USD$7/month a week ago — but I procrastinated. 2 days later USD sinked even more and 4.50 GBP is now above our threshold — it’s currently $7.13 at the moment according to Google. So James has to dropped his price even further — £4.30/month for the following VPS:
- 192MB memory
- 25GB storage
- 250GB/month data transfer
- Xen/SolusVM
Servers in Kent in UK. Direct sign up link here. You might want to be hurry as who knows whether USD is going to dip even further. Good for those of us who buy hosting packages with other currencies though 🙂

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
They changed their website yet again. 🙂
@leb,
there seems to be a sequence of UK based offers cropping up, is this random, or is there an underlying reason (like a big new datacentre in the UK) ?
@andrew — I’ll think UK is one of the biggest market in Europe. There are also many cheap offers in Germany due to cheap dedi-boxes at Hetzner.
Been down > 7 hours ago…
Its down even longer, here it has been down since 11 hours now.
We were doing some maintenance on that server which took longer than planned. It’s back up now. Thanks for your patience.
I’ve been a customer at quickvps for the past 3 or 4 months, and to date I have had no down time!
Speeds are very good (:
using wget to get: http://download.thinkbroadband.com/100MB.zip gave me good speeds: 2010-10-02 11:01:16 (9.68 MB/s) – `100MB.zip’ saved [104857600/104857600]
They’re without doubt the best VPS provider I’ve used to date (:
