LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Seems lowendbox had up 17 days.
Thanks everyone for your patronage to QW! order within 10 July 2010, and you can DOUBLE the RAM & Bandwidth for extra $2 only! this is our sweetest Softlayer VPS deal ever! (note that the upgrade will be manually added by our staffs and is not automated during setup)
The offer would be really sweet if it also cover Xen. Let us know of future plans.
we are currently sold out in San Jose (Xen), but have some stocks on SL XEN and they are currently on 50% off first month here on WHT.
Beware. Terms of service are extremely favorable to QuickWeb. For instance, QuickWeb can terminate your account and confiscate all fees if customer is deemed to engage in “intentionally disruptive behavior” to QuickWeb staff.
“Harassment and Abuse
QuicKWeb does not tolerate abuse of any kind towards its staffs. This includes all verbal harassment, yelling, swearing, rudeness, threats, and any intentionally disruptive behavior directed at QuickWeb or any of it’s staff or agents. Client agrees to engage us in a professional manner whether in email, helpdesk tickets, live chat, forums, or on the telephone. Any abuse will be construed as a violation of this Terms of Service agreement. No refunds will be provided for any service termination which arises as a result of a violation of this clause.”
I’d look elsewhere…
I had a similarly bad experience with QuickWeb. My account was provisioned incorrectly, and when I created a support ticket to request assistance, the QuickWeb staff deemed my request as “disruptive” and a violation of their ToS/AUP.
My server was never properly provisioned, but they “suspended” my account and have refused a refund, citing their ToS.
BUYER BEWARE!
@James
Are you the one whose make a post under their offer in WHT?
david & james seems like same person saying same thing lol, any host will not tolerate abusive people, the way you act i know who is at fault here and why your account end up terminated.
