  6. Di Wu:

This is a brand new company, I hope this is a very limited time promotion to get publicity and not their standard pricing.

At this level of discounting, they’ll never make a profit.
I’d rather they survive and provide a reliable service vs go out of business due to discounting.

    November 29, 2019 @ 9:52 pm | Reply
    • Hi Di Wu – I understand the pricing we’ve put together is very attractive! This is what makes our promotions perfect for Black Friday — and everything we promote of course is in consideration of what we deem sustainable. We are here for the long-haul.

      • Di Wu:

I think the IT MSP business is much more lucrative than selling unmanaged VPS.

I hope you add those type of managed IT services beyond infrastructure. VPS infra is commodity business with very little profit margins.

        November 30, 2019 @ 10:07 pm | Reply
        • Hi Di Wu,
I absolutely agree that the MSP market is quite lucrative – we will be focusing on those type of customers soon as well. We, for now, have a product line DRaaS, and are looking to partner with Datto for that. Send me an email if you have other recommendations as well. I would love to connect!

Yes, in fact, both are supported – if you need any assistance just open a support ticket. We are more than happy to help.

  8. How’s fair share calculated?

    November 29, 2019 @ 10:29 pm | Reply
    • Hi Misha,

That’s a great question, actually – this doesn’t have any specific amount of limitation, but we’ll always contact the customer in advance and address this on a case by case basis should we notice host node issues due to one abusive VPS. Otherwise, it’s considered fair. We are reasonable :)

  9. David P.:

Nice Black Friday deal, thanks for the post. Hard choice (dont get me wrong both are great offers) but since the OpenVZ package offers a lot more resources from both space and memory perspective for the same dollar amount…but sat on it for 10 minutes and decided to go with a KVM VPS, just in case I ever wanted to compile my own kernel or something later on I didn’t want to be limited by the containerization nature that OpenVZ is. Hopefully I made the right choice :) The VPS seems pretty fast and nimble so far, live chat was helpful before I ordered, overall a great experience so far.

    November 29, 2019 @ 10:55 pm | Reply
    • Hi David, I believe you made the right choice :) I know both offers are lucrative, and for your use case, KVM was the right choice.

Thank you for doing business with us. If we ever fail to meet your expectations email me directly dustin@racknerd.com

Hi, interested in the black friday KVM deal – is there a qty # per customer that can be ordered? Might be needing more than a few if this project runs as intended

    Thanks, Happy BF – Aaron

    • Hi FiberAaron, that’s a good question!
No maximum quantity per customer, feel free to order! And the beauty of bulk ordering is that we have many nodes, so your VPS will be provisioned on separate nodes. This, of course, is dependant on inventory, so order fast ;)

Ordered one server and was happy enough I added a second a few days later. Speeds are acceptable on both, installs on both completed quickly. And best of all it’s not on Colo’s network. The worst thing if there was anything looks to be a little bit of a bottleneck at 107.179.61.113 but that could also just be something in the routing since even with totally independent connections I have here both ended up going through the same core router at pccw.

So far quite happy and for the price more than reasonable while keeping that risk factor low.
