      • Hi hicham, thank you for your interest in our services! Port 25 is enabled by default on our KVM VPS product line, as long as the mail is clean, compliant, opt-in, you shouldn’t have any issues using our services.

We hope to do business with you!

    • Hi Shiramine Rika,
RackNerd’s website is not hosted on the same servers as our reseller/shared hosting servers and RackNerd’s website is behind Cloudflare.

Some of the benefits of this include segregation in the event of a power or network events affecting customers (very rare) as you can imagine. This allows us to be available to our customers. And communicate with our valued customers.

Additionally with this, additional security measures are achieved – and customers always appreciate this.

We hope to do business with you. If you have any particular questions, I’d be happy to answer them!

  2. Davis:

    Hi Racknerd,
    Reseller LEB plans seems interesting.
    1. What the Cloudlinux limits for each cPanel account under reseller?
I/O, CPU, RAM, IOPS, Entry Processes, Total Processes.
    2. Also do you offer MariaDB?
    3. Is the pricing recurring?
    4. Do you offer help to migrate from DirectAdmin to cPanel? Or do you offer DirectAdmin reseller plan?
    5. Only one Datacenter is available to choose? Not NY or Dallas?

    May 30, 2020 @ 10:37 am | Reply
    • Hi Davis! Thank you for commenting and expressing interest in RackNerd’s services. For the price and service we provide, this deal is amazing. I have to agree – one could easily obtain profit by purchasing our reseller package. Our goal is to help those just getting started or those who are already established but may be looking to deploy additional resources and diversity. We want everyone to do well.

      Resource limitations?

As for the resources, here’s how we structured them to provide the best end-user experience to everyone.

      CPU – 100%
      I/O Limit – 80 MB/s
      IOPS Limit – 15,000
      Physical Memory Limit – 1GB
EPROC (Entry Processes) Limit – 200
      NPROC Limit – 220
      INODE Limit – No limit

If you believe you may need more of a particular resource, just let us know and we’ll evaluate how we can adjust for a specific account.

      Price increases?

Good question by the way, we believe in transparency.
Pricing is recurring, we do not anticipate any price increases – as our pricing is structured for sustainability, while also respecting cPanel’s most recent price increase. The only way we will adjust our prices is *if* cPanel raises the rates which would be beyond our control, and only then would the adjustment be enough to cover the increase. This would be a global impact to all providers if this was to happen. Our goal is to continue providing resources at very competitive rates.

      Migration from DirectAdmin to cPanel?

At the moment we do not promote migration from Directadmin to cPanel – though if needed, we’ll help :)

Locations other than Los Angeles for reseller?

As for the location – as of now we are offering our reseller hosting and shared hosting out of Los Angeles – we will soon be expanding this service offering to various locations. Los Angeles has been a very popular location for us.

      May 30, 2020 @ 11:46 am | Reply
      • Hi Davis, I also noticed I missed a question regarding Mariadb – at this time we do not use it. It is a goal of ours to implement – so we should be utilizing it soon.

I sincerely appreciate your time and hope we can work together.

Latency to Asia is quite amazing, I agree. We also just in case you’re not aware recently deployed another POP in LAX. So we have multiple deployments available for customers to choose which facility/network provides the best connectivity/latency to their region.

We hope you continue to enjoy the level of service we provide, and that you expand your services with us!

    May 30, 2020 @ 1:38 pm | Reply
    • Hi Davis, no problem! Thanks for replying back.

Yes our reseller/shared services are entirely white label, hostnames as well.

We understand the importance of this, anything we can implement or do to help our customers success we are in!

    Thank you for the offer

Is RDNS updates supported? and is FreeBSD supported with the VPS

    thanks

    June 1, 2020 @ 7:13 pm | Reply
    • Hi Ras,
Thank you for considering RackNerd as your provider!

We do support rDNS, and most customers are able to set rDNS within our control panel; for some support is required since we do have IPv4 diversity, to help benefit our customers. For those ranges since the CIDR blocks are smaller than a /24 we manually adjust rDNS. It’s simple, open a support ticket, provide us with the request, and we’ll handle right away :)

As for the OS, we can always attach/mount the ISO – just provide us with a download URL via ticket.

We hope to do business with you.

By the way, our reseller plan is fully white-label, as an added bonus. We hope to do business with you.

    Looks like a great deal.!

Your TOS says customers need to monitor their CPU and I/O resource usage to stay within fair share limits, but does not define what these are.

What thresholds, averaged over what time periods, should customers on KVM packages set for alerting to ensure they stay within them?

    June 4, 2020 @ 2:02 am | Reply
    • Hi Martin! Thank you for your interest in RackNerd, and for the kind words!

At this time, for our VPS product line, we simply operate on a fair share policy as you’d expect, with any VPS provider. Our host nodes run on Dual Xeon E5-2690’s or higher processors, with SSD Cached RAID-10 drives so we have a healthy amount of bandwidth and performance available. Of course, if you are looking to maximize the CPU 24×7 at 100% capacity, a dedicated server would be a better fit or our Hybrid Dedicated Server line, but if you are just needing to occasionally burst, that’s no issue on a VPS.

If there is any particular use case you are looking for that you’d like clarification on – feel free to ask, I’ll help!

I hope we get to do business together.

I read all the good stuff here and we are looking for an alternate vendor for our instances and so decided to try them.

First day was a disaster. We had two SIMPLE question both on their control panel (the system itself was perfect). The tech who dealt with these questions had NO IDEA what he was talking about and just stretched the issue out. Then he asked whether we had any important data there, (Whose data is not important), because he wanted to scrub and re-install. Remember that there was no issue with the server, only the control panel. We told him NOT to scrub. He decided to take the server off-line and do whatever. At this point I asked that the issue be escalated and it was.

Not only was the matter handled WONDERFULLY, but they gave me a credit, took full ownership of the mess they had made and called me. We had a wonderful call, for over an hour.

YES: They started on a bad footing. And I will be slightly nervous until they fully earn my trust back.

BUT: I have NEVER had a company respond as well as they did.

    • Regardless, ALWAYS have back ups if your data is indeed important. Even if you were using AWS, Google Cloud, MS Azure, etc. ALWAYS have a back up if it’s important.

I had a good experience with Rack Nerd. Support was fairly quick to answer my questions (I feel bad since I had a lot of them, lol)

Afterwards I bought one as a back up server today and they gave me a sweet deal on a little more bandwidth…threw up my rsync scripts this afternoon and i’m all set. transfer speeds from my other VPS server in chi-town are rightaround 600 to 700mbps consistently which isn’t bad.

This is sufficient storage for me for now (4gb plan) but if I need to upgrade to the next plan up in the future, is it easy to do? What does that entail of? how much downtime and does it need a reinstall?

    June 19, 2020 @ 6:41 pm | Reply
    • Hi Kel, thank you so much for considering RackNerd as your provider.

Upgrading is easy, by ticketing our support team we can assist with the upgrade process, once the upgrade is completed, a reboot may be necessary of your KVM VPS to take full effect. You can initiate the reboot, when the timing is best (to minimize the downtime/impact to your live environment).

A reinstall is not required, though if you’d like to ever reinstall your machine, reinstalls usually take 2-4 minutes, very quick, and easy through our client portal, just make sure you have backed up any important data prior to reinstalling.

We sincerely hope to do business with you.
