RAM Host is offering their Micro VPS for $5.99 per month.
- 80MB guaranteed / 192MB burstable memory
- 25GB storage
- 200GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ + In-House Control Panel (RAM CP)
- Arch, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, Slackware, OpenSUSE, Ubuntu
It’s nice to see that they have a demo of their in-house built control panel (and explicitly stated that they are not using HyperVM). RAMCP is very functional (start/stop/restart VM, reload OS, download backups, basic stats) although not pretty (who cares at $5.99/month!) The servers are in Kanas City MO with Level 3, Cogent, AFS and KCIX connectivity. Their website is powered by RAM-CMS written by the owner — yes a developer-run provider which is always a good sign.

Here’s my review of Ram Host: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=871190 I’ve been very happy with the service and incredible support.
Hmm. I’ve read the review and it turns out to become a debate.
RAID is definitely a good thing to have. It is rare to have PSU caught on fire, but crashed HDD is much more often. Got a few 6 disk RAID10 boxes here and all we need to do is pull out the dead drive and put in the new one, and the controller would rebuild itself — no down time!
As of backups, I’ll rather leave the backup to the customers, as different apps have different backup strategy, especially when you are trying to backup database…
Looks like they’ve got an even smaller plan now – $2.99
I joined and was setup in 5 minutes! That’s what I call service!
