New Business Name Rule #1 — do not use an already established name, even in a total different market, unless your aim is confusion. Now, Nicholas from RhinoRack Networks emailed me their special offer — not a new roof rack for your automobile, but a low end OpenVZ VPS plan that’s also posted on WHT. Named “OpenVZ – Node1 BEAST”, it’s $7/month and you have to use this link to order as it’s not publicly visible on their website.
- 512MB guaranteed/768MB burstable memory
- 30GB storage
- 200GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
PayPal only. They own their hardware, which are colocated with HostDime in Orlando FL — see Nick’s data center hunting thread. Yes, it’s the same Nick who used to run RackMountain, which he sold it 2 months down the track. Lots of informative comments in the old posts there so do check them out. Anyway he is back! RhinoRack.net is a new venture that he has only recently started.
We’ll see how long this one is going to last.

Their site doesn’t look like http://www.cleverkite.com/ at all..
They are indeed using bootstrap too like us and that’s fine since it’s freely available for everyone, but we don’t appreciate the copied layout sections like the About Us page or the FAQ page.

Oh dear…
Hello,
I’m sorry for anything copied, I will talk to our developer and look into this issue. As I do see what you mean about the sites. I will update when I get a response.
Regards,
Nick
Just an update I did talk to the coder and I did catch a view of his history and he did view the site a couple of times. I’m going to work on getting this fixed.
Regards,
Nick
Did you have a nice conversation with yourself?
@Nick
You don’t need to change anything, haters can kiss your…
#builtwithbootstrap.com
@Dino
I only did the homepage as I mostly kept it the same as the other pages, but the other pages were done by a friend of mine (cause he needed a few bucks). I’m a bit disappointed because he didn’t admit to taking the layout, but when I went through it on teamviewer I saw his history and it had Cleverkite a few to many times.
@asf
It’s not right, It is a stolen layout (even same span).
Thanks LEA,
For the first five orders from LEB I’ll offer the double disk space for free! Please open a ticket to claim.
Great way to start. Parts of website ripped from Cleverkite.com.
Actually he is using the twitter bootstap just like CleverKite use :)
http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/
Its free :)
BootStrap is becoming very popular, even I use it!
It’s even the most watched repo on GitHub!
Hello,
I’ve looked at the site and it is similar in terms of layout, but it is the bootstrap.
I had a vps with him at Rackmountain. He was a nice guy and knowledgeable but clearly made some terrible mistakes. This company could be good if he learned from his mistakes. Looks like he at least is no longer trying to offer ultra cheap VPS at Softlayer like last time (I don’t think Softlayer DC + Lowendboxes has worked for any provider!)
Hello Dino,
Thanks for the nice comments! Yea it didn’t work it as well as well as what I planned. This time I’ve made sure to correct the wrongs (one of them being buying my own hardware) to make sure I last and provide.
Regards,
Nick
There’s a company called FuseVPS.com that is still around today, and they’ve been listed here a few times and the whole company’s operations over there are based out of Softlayer @ Dallas, Texas. Just do a search here and you should have no problem seeing that it is possible, and there pricing over there is pretty decent for a 100% network uptime promise budget VPS…. Even better, I’ll help ya… http://www.lowendbox.com/tag/fusevps-com/
I was thinking this, what’s the reason for SoftLayer not apparently going well with LEB’s, guessing the price ranges?
Hello,
I’d like to address the business name. I understand there will be a few times clients will go to the “.com”, but because it isn’t in the hosting industry they will know they went to the wrong site and go to the “.net”. Overall I thought it was a little better than “CrazyRack” and it seems a bit better for a brand name (stay tuned later down the road).
Regards,
Nick
You’ll be surprised sometimes how much lawyers would do to protect their “trademark”, even to the business in a completely different market. Just look at Apple for example.
With that, “CrazyRack” is probably not as crazy. I thought you also own “VPSRack.net”?
Hello LEA
Yes I was going through names and at the time it sounded good, but a week later was like “this sucks”. So I kept thinking and crazyrack was a good find but forgot to plan on how to market it.
I like ‘VPSRack.net’ better then the one your currently using and your other suggestion ‘CrazyRack’, Do you still own the domain – vpsrack.net? Would you be interested in letting it go? :-)
By the way, I went ahead and ordered one… I’ll let you know how overall it is, I haven’t been with a VPS company providing services from HD sense Adam and VPSLatch, haha.
Hello,
I still do own “VPSRack.net”, but I’m looking for more of a company brand than a name. I wouldn’t mind “letting it go”, but not for free :D.
OK thanks! I’ve gotten a few orders and will be looking through them tonight and validate them before I get off.
Do you got a e-mail? I’d be interested in discussing a arrangement or sale for the domain, I wouldn’t expect you just to hand me over the rights to your domain just for signing up for a month to try out your VPS’s haha..
Just shoot me over a response with your email and I’ll check back every so often once you respond I’ll shoot you over a message and see what’s up and what kind of offer your looking for the domain, and so on, including some information about it (background stuff).
-Chris
I own the domain PieVPS.com
@Chris
Yes you can E-mail me at nick[@]rhinorack.net .
I like the name to be honest.
I think Nick is quite fixated on ‘Rack’ but hopefully that’s a good thing as it suggests growth into other fields (Colocation, Dedicated, Shared etc).
Good luck though ;)
Great thing is, both RhinoRack and CrazyRack could go into the porn industry with a good, fitting name behind them. ;)
Oh wait, my bad. ;)
Is it possible to get a box setup with iptables and natting tonight?
I am trying to get setup to use for site backups as soon as possible.
Thanks!
Nathan
If you’re asking them this over third party LEB blog then most likely isn’t possible. What about to use proper contact site?
Wow, Nick and his Rhinorack didn’t last even a month. Appears like it was sold to ErrantWeb.
Yup, and the first month costing more than the following months makes sense now…
