RootNerds domain was registered only in September but according to their website, they’re a “dedicated team of server admins and technicians who have a couple decades worth of experience combined”. On their website, they boldly claim that “we’re the experts in our field”. ‘Nerd’ is a funny word, some people find it offensive whilst others are proud of the term – what do you think? RootNerds informs us that the above promotion code is valid until January 15th.

Whilst they only accept payments via PayPal, they said they will try and offer other payment methods as well if you request them. First time customers who are dissatisfied with the service are allowed a refund if they submit a ticket within the first 7 days. They have an account on LowEndTalk but it hasn’t been used much. As usual, for further information, be sure to check their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Oh look, it’s this template again! I lost count of how many times I’ve seen it.

    • It’s a nice template though, isn’t it?

It’s a much nicer looking template than the ones they use on their ideal-hosting.biz or gmod.eu sites. :) They are owned by a registered business which is a positive compared to many low end (summer)hosts who operate out of their parents’ basements.

“IMHO 100GB/month of bandwidth is not competitive”

Unless you compare it to the 64GB of outgoing traffic Tilaa gives on their cheapest 3.90€ plan.

        • Hey there!
Thanks for commenting. Traffic isn’t hard limited anymore – it’s fair use now. As long as you don’t need a TB for the smallest VPS… everything should be fine! We know that fair use is a rather vague statement, but it gives us the chance to give people who need more traffic the ability to use more traffic. There is always VPS which barely use 5 percent of the given traffic and others need traffic on mass. This way we are able to make everyone as happy as possible. (Okay, with the price that some people complain that fair use is vague. We can tell them a minimum of traffic they will get though)

          Best Regards and merry X-Mas.

Whats wrong with templates? Some of the best hosting companies use some ugly templates.

IMHO 100GB/month of bandwidth is not competitive, especially for Germany. Similar LEB plans offer 5 to 10 times as much.

    • Hello swsnyder,

I have explained it above. It’s the same plan as on the website, therefor this offer includes the fair-use traffic.

    Indeed, 100GB and 5€? It’s not 2003

You have to understand that most of the providers out there offering you TB bandwidth for 7$ are either badly overselling their allocation or have the cheapest network like single homed cogent. Good network is expensive. A lot of the providers that were featured on LEB in the past were and are using shared 100mbps port/node while selling 60 vps with 1 tb bandwidth. Can you even imagine what will happen if everyone decides to use their allocation? Well you can’t because the node can barely allow ~33TB transfer.

I know the classic argument about overselling and I am aware of the average usage pattern, but at least you should appreciate that they are being honest.

Wouldn’t call selling 100GB of bandwidth for 5 euros being “honest”, more like “greedy”. In terms of bandwidth and cheap providers, almost all hosts on here rent dedi’s so connectivity and peering are out of their hands.

For the persons above, I think it’s òr a typo, òr it isn’t because the deal is an apart plan.

The AUP gives us a connection to ideal-hosting.biz. Interesting.

Sending SPAM, hosting pornographic adult content, distribute warez files ( that could be interpreted as using it for torrent/peer2peer site/client/hub/cacheserver/supernode, sites with uploading ability and -private- cyberlockers ), and using it as a TOR exit node isn’t allowed. ( But does the latter mean that you still could use it as a tor node within the tor network? )

But what about the nerdy-looking IRC?

    • Hello LowEndCriticus,

thanks for your feedback. RootNerds is just a domain – as you can see, the Imprint is located at Ideal-Hosting as well as the Whois entry points to Ideal-Hosting. We’re a company offering various services – not just VPS. (We also have local customers)

Distributing Warez… just check what the German law says about it. We will most likely not cooperate with people walking up to us “They are doing bad things”. We will not give out client details unless we receive a court decision. However, if you are obviously hosting a Warez site or anything else => We will suspend it. In case you plan something specific, just contact us beforehand and we will tell you if it’s ok or not. Also, about the TOR exit nodes. We do mean EXIT nodes. Normal Tor nodes are completely fine and we will be glad to host those.

      Best Regards

        Hello German,

        Thanks for the feedback :)

Unfortunately you didn’t answer my question about your policy about IRC…

Also it’s quite remarkable that only German VPS suppliers offer Fair Use Policy on the traffic.

        Best Regards

        • Hey LowEndCriticus,

IRCs are of course allowed as long as you are not breaking any other points of the ToS. Sorry that I didn’t answer that question before.

          Regards
