LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
“ffs”. Lol.
I got a VPS with these guys in their Los Angeles DC, have it it for 3-4 months now and they do a good job.
5.35 is steep for 64MB though
It’s 0.013 USD per extra MB though, so that is not very expensive. There is also a discount for double the RAM for free in The Netherlands according tohttps://www.serverffs.com/specials/
http://nameserverffs.com/ – pretty nice..
Thanks a lot for mentioning our company! We’ve made a few changes to the pricing of our VPSes, the most obvious one being the RAM.
We now offer four times memory in burst, so if you order 256 mb your VPS will have up to 1 GB of RAM available (and 256 mb guaranteed).
Further more, be sure to contact our live support regarding bandwidth pricing. We can offer some pretty good deals depending on your VPS location.
I signed up with them a few days ago.
They’re not bad, one of the great things is that your VPS is created almost instantly and the whole process is automated. With the code REMEMBERME you can get twice the RAM if you choose to put the VPS in the Netherlands.
On the downside, I’ve only just signed up with them and now my VPS has been down because of a “Network restart” for more than 9 hours… Something that was announced to take 45 mins. You can see their list of maintenance here to get a better idea of what’s going on: http://noc.serverffs.com/
Also, I’m not too keen on all the limitations OpenVZ has… but well, that’s another story :)
PS: Search Google for some coupons if you’re thinking of signing up here. Some are still active, e.g. REMEMBERME.
There was planned maintenance by our uplink providers which was announced through e-mail and Twitter to all our customers.
The actual maintenance was completed within 30 minutes, but a lot of upstream providers had to reroute the routes to our servers which caused downtime for any international connection.
It only affected the servers in The Netherlands and everything is back online.
I know the timing couldn’t be worse (we’ve done a lot of advertising in the past week), but we unfortunately didn’t have any control over it.
Router is a p cool guy.
We hosted a game server VPS with him for some time, always worked.
