ShardHost have never been featured on here before but they’ve been a member of our LowEndTalk community since December 2011. They’re a UK private limited company who were registered in June 2011 (Reg No. 07679837). They operate the Daddycheese game server hosting brand and currently host over 3500 services. They’re using SuperMicro servers with: a mixture of Intel Xeon E3 1240 v1 & v2 CPUs and multiple WD RE4 or Seagate Constellations drives in Hardware Raid 10. I found this review on LowEndTalk and these reviews on a Minecraft website.

At present ShardHost only accept Paypal and they offer a 7 day refund policy. We’re told that IPv6 is genuinely coming soon. They already have an IPv6 range and both their DC and our equipment support it but they’re just sorting out ‘a few back end considerations’. To summarise their Terms of Service: Be a good neighbour, No spam/abuse, Legal stored content only and finally No TOR. You can read their TOS here and their AUP here.
Network Information:

Servers are located at the CoreXchange datacenter in Dallas, Texas.

Test IPv4: 209.105.248.2
Test Files: 10mb & 100mb

    any chance offering 512mb KVM?

    March 24, 2013 @ 6:02 pm | Reply
    • Hello Babah,

We tried to price these where existing 512mb KVMs were priced. We do; however, understanding not everyone needs 1gb.

If you open a ticket on our website, we’ll see what we can do for you.

  12. I’m ordering from India. Why am I still getting VAT charged on USD purchase?

    March 29, 2013 @ 5:13 pm | Reply
    • I believe this has been handled via support ticket; however, VAT will only be applied to an order when an EU address is entered in the order process. VAT is not applied if a non-eu address is entered.

Just upgraded to the new KVM plan, very satisfactory with the performance. And ShardHost allowed me to install my own ISO, that’s fantastic! The support is great and billing is generous. In a word, according to my experience, ShardHost is different and very well worth you to have a try.

Let me give you 2 examples where they exceed others, both in their service quality and their attitude:

    (1)
I have been with several other VPS providers. One of the VPS provider (do not want to mention their name) has a very strict restriction on concurrent connections. If my website has concurrent connections more than 2000, 3000 thousand, my VPS would be brought down without any notice and will not be bring back until you contact me. This annoys me as I believe a better way is to notify me first, grant me some time to improve the situation and then decide the next step. Sign~~. So on that VPS I can only run some static html pages…However, ShardHost is different, they allow me to have > 10,000 connections at the same time as they informed me that they have just upgraded their infrastructure.

    (2)
And the 2nd VPS provider (do not want to mention name), they only provide Paypal “subcription” when you pay the fee. I see most providers have multiple options as “checkout” and “subscription”. You know how ugly this is. I cancelled the service but the payment is still rolling. I contacted that provider to get the money back and they told me “why don’t you cancel your subscription when you cancel our service?”. I got pissed off at this attitude. Thank you for letting me know that why you only provide “subscription” in the checkout as you want me to forget there is money getting out of my account every month to yours, “automatically” without any notice. I would say again ShardHost is differnet again at billing, they are fair and generous. I upgraded my service, they (at least two guys took care of me) refunded my remaining balance and opened a new invoice. The returned amount is little, only 1.5 pound, but the attitude from ShardHost makes me feel so comfortable when compared with others. I believe the 2nd provider I was with would never take the time to do so voluntarily for the customers. Thanks to Rebecca from ShardHost, you are so nice.

I would recommend you guys have a try of their service. Who doesn’t want a hassle free high quality service :)
