SimplexWebs - £20/Year 128MB Xen VPS in UK

SimplexWebs Tim from SimplexWebs is currently having a special promotional package for their Xen-based VPS. £20/year (USD$32.82) with the following spec:

  • 128MB memory
  • 5GB storage
  • 200GB/month data transfer
  • Xen/SolusVM

Direct sign up link. Payment available in PayPal, Google Checkout, Pay Offline (UK) and OneBip. Servers in UK with RedStation (test IP: 77.245.76.194). You can read more about SimplexWebs on their company page. It’s a Limited (Company Number 07046144) with quite a sizeable team. It also keeps its server status online, tracked by Pingdom, which is quite neat.

It’s actually not the first time SimplexWebs got listed on LowEndBox. They were first listed here back in January but the comments section soon got vandalised by the competitors. We’ll see how it does this time.

Whops! Re-read, its for the UK servers, is there a possibility of having the server in the US?

      August 1, 2011 @ 2:02 pm | Reply
    • UK – On their website they say US servers are out of stock.

If you want UK test IP – darwin.simplexnetwork.com is one of their nodes.

    • Michael,

This is a UK VPS (test IP: 77.245.76.194). We’re working on US VPS and will have them rolled out soon.

Thanks, shoot support or me an email with any queries.

Quoting pingdom is pointless LEA! They turn it off when they have downtime!

(referring to January 2011 HD failure because they aren’t using RAID)

    August 1, 2011 @ 2:41 pm | Reply
    • A completely valid comment – it’s true, but not condoned. A Pingdom tracker for a shared server (Census it was, in fact – a server we no longer use) was disabled/paused by a tech due to Pingdom continuously flooding our cell/mobile phones and emails with outage alerts, the tech was wrong to do so (and didn’t realiase the important of transparency and the implications of doing this) and should have disabled SMS alerts but we can’t do anything about that now. I invite everyone to take a look at our Pingdom report – http://smplx.ws/8 – if you look at a report detail paused downtime is shown in grey. We have put our foot down and now ONLY do this when there is scheduled maintenance such as hardware upgrades etc. Apart from that, everything is valid.

Yes we also didn’t have RAID on this server but the HD failure that server suffered wouldn’t have been helped by RAID at all. Luckily we backup all servers daily – and shared/reseller/enterprise servers 4-6 times a day with R1Soft, to an offsite location.

Unfortunately we no longer host Jason as he decided to move away from us, but looking at his account history we responded to his support tickets in a matter of minutes and also were kind enough to provide him with a dedicated IP address and upgraded disk space. Good luck with your next provider Jason :).

      Thanks for the comments folks!

  7. RedStation added a £49 setup on many of the servers, and discontinued the promo.

I know a few people who brought servers from them with 250IPs , 128GB of RAM, and dozens of cores, for a £59 per month, and probably will be worried when there £2500 server bill comes in after 6 months

    • Then I suppose it’s a good job when our contract is up, one of our guys travels over to the data centre, shifts the server over to our private rack and powers it back up, a 10 minute job. :)

      Thanks.

  8. Okay. Time to move the discussion back on topic. This post is NOT about Jason nor Ixape.

    • Discussions on SimplexWebs’ past issues and whether they have paid all their staffs — these are okay.
    • Discussions on another person’s previously failed companies that are not related to SimplexWebs — these are off-topic so please refrain from posting them.
    • Impersonating with someone else’s email address — that’s not cool.

Found this link, someone must have mailed phony docs to CH because Simplexwebs is just another rogue operation run by teenagers. The “Managing Director” is 16, wears braces and has acne all over his face (from the photos, “Pimplexwebs” would have been a better name).

Please investigate before throwing your money away and having an unexpected visit from the police, YOU CANNOT enter into legal contract with a child.

    • A totally unfair comment. Simplex are way different to any other kiddie hosts out there. I believe Tim and Harry have actually left school? The company also has it’s own bank account and bank manager.. so they clearly are getting somewhere.

      • Human:

No, actually, Tim admitted to lending over £1000 from the bank of dad, why? Because banks will not touch kids who cannot legally bind to a contract.

They are still at uni, or college.

Anyone can get bank managers when your dad is who he is, eh tim?
How are they different? From what I hear, they are not as good as people say.

And fyi, the cheapo barclays accounts are easy to get.

    • 16 yo high-schoolers running web hosting companies with title such as “Managing Director”, “CEO”, “CTO”… Nothing new actually. I sort of already assumed that with UK hosts found on the Habbo forums.

But you did raise an interesting point regarding to “phony docs to CH”…

Hey there, not completely sure where such ridiculous accusations have come from regarding false documents to Companies House. Even if Tim were 16, he would still be a more than adequate candidate as a company director.

For somebody who seems to be putting others down because of their vast ‘business knowledge’, one would assume you’d know such a basic fact. I would recommend you revise Companies House ‘registering a new company’ guidelines (over here: http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/infoAndGuide/faq/registerNewComp.shtml) before you carry on throwing round such slander.
