Matt from SSD Nodes has updated me with their special offer for the LowEndBox readers. They were first listed in September, but no coupon code needed this time. Same deal — $6.99/month but you do get double the monthly data this time. Direct sign up link here, and this is what you will get:
- 128MB memory
- 8GB primary storage + 20GB SATA II or 1GB SSD secondary storage
- 200GB/month data transfer on 1Gbps
- 1x IPv4 + 64k IPv6
- XenServer
PayPal only. Servers with SoftLayer in Dallas TX. Those are their new Xeon E3-1270 nodes and you get a choice between 20GB of spinning plates or 1GB of solid state hard drive as secondary storage. They also get some nice reviews on WHT — these are linked on their offer there. Domain has been registered since May this year.

review on 96mb.com
Sometimes I wonder which VPS provider has NOT been reviewed by 96MB :p
Way to go 96MB :)
I love his work, it’s a pretty detailed review. :-)
And I kind like what people say about support, it seems Matt is doing great.
Best luck folks!
Thanks a lot guys, here is a special thank you note for you, from 96MB.com :)
http://www.96mb.com/thank-you/
You are most welcome. Keep up the good work. I love reading your blog :)
Wanted to comment on your blog’s thank you note, but it is not loading for me at the moment.
Anyway, its a pleasure having you in LEB/LET :)
@Asim: Ya, I think I need to learn more on optimizing the site from LEA, amazing he could run this whole LEB attracting thousands of viewers a day and the site is loading as smooth as silk every time I need view it :)
Just read it and replied :-P
Thank you for your awesome work and don’t ever give up. You’re building a really useful website and I believe it’ll get even bigger! :-)
I wonder if a shared SSD makes more sense (for heavy I/O tasks) I hope that it’s at least RAID 1 though (?)
I was kind of intrigued by the September listing, and still am. SSD would seem to relieve one of the bottlenecks of shared hosting, namely the seek latency from lots of people trying to access the disk at once. If I were running some kind of database-backed service that used lots of random access, I’d seriously consider this. For now (without such a need) I guess I’ll stay with lower cost spinning-disk plans.
Please add the “FreeBSD” tag to this post, we support FreeBSD on all our packages :)
If you guys have any questions regarding our services feel free to ask here or open a ticket with our support team.
WOO! WOO! WOO!
:)
Just as an FYI, LEA doesn’t include OSes as tags. Pity.
Strange, I thought that’s what this page was for: http://www.lowendbox.com/tag/freebsd/
Oh well :)
Sorry. Could have sworn that he was only labeling windows offers as such.
Yeah “freebsd” tag was there originally for the FreeBSD jails, but when Xen HVM and KVM became popular that pretty much implies freebsd and windows as well.
Thanks LEA!
64k IPv6? Really?
Just a quick update, we’ve added credit card processing for all SSD Nodes orders!
Hi Matt,
how about your swap spaces?
We offer 512MB of swap space on each package! We figured that would be plenty for most setups.
What about recent reviews?
Damn, the Xen VPS indeed must own, I’d love to see recent benchmarks. I <3 SSD's. ;-)
The only review that’s been published about SSD Nodes with detailed performance statistics is from 96mb (listed as the first comment).
If you want to see some benchmarks, just tell me which commands to run and I can post them here, unless you want to get a node and see for yourself!
These are a list of the most recent reviews, some of them have already been posted in here:

I already read 96mb’s review, of course, that’s the first place I look at.
The performance looks awesome, SSD’s blow for sure :-)
I might setup someday, can’t afford right now, but I wish you all the best.
Keep providing a good service and support :-)
I understand everyone’s budgets are very tight right now because of the holidays :(
Thank you for your amazingly kind words! If there’s anything I can do to help please let me know :) I do hope to see you in the future as part of the SSD Nodes family!
As a student myself, it’s been hard to afford every service I have, so.. yeah :-P
You’re welcome. We should not only criticize but compliment too for good behavior.
I will, if you’re still here in a few years, let’s hope so, Matt!
Regards,
Miguel
I agree with you that hosts should be complimented for good behavior, but (useful/constructive) criticism helps us grow as well.
We plan on being in this business for the long run, so I hope to see you in a few years!
That’s true Matt, :-)
I hope so!
Merry Christmas :-)
