LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

SSD Nodes - $6.99 128MB Xen VPS in Dallas

SSD Nodes Matt from SSD Nodes has emailed me a coupon code to get listed on LowEndBox. Use coupon code LOWENDBOX to get the most basic configuration “Small Node” for $6.99/month (same offer on WHT). Sign up here, and here is the spec of this VPS:

  • 128MB memory
  • 8GB + 40GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer on 1Gbps
  • 1x IPv4 + 64k IPv6
  • XenServer

With storage, do note that it presents two option on the ordering page — “Primary” and “Secondary” storage. Primary is either a 8GB SATA drive, or a 8GB SSD drive (costs extra). Secondary is a 40GB SATA drive. So at the end, even though the company is called “SSD Nodes”, you actually do not get any SSD storage when you are paying the low end box price. Payment is PayPal only. Servers with SoftLayer in Dallas TX. Contact is in Orange CA, but the company (SSD Nodes LLC) is registered in Delaware. Domain has been registered since May this year.

One positive review here. Probably not the best offer at the moment, especially regarding to the amount of memory and monthly data. However you do get SoftLayer service and connectivity.

64k IPv6 is a strange number (not that anyone ever needs this much IPv6 addresses…)
    Or is it a /64 ?

Not exactly. You must be a Softlayer direct customer to get their great service and somewhat good connectivity. Actually you do get SSD Nodes service and connectivity. :-)

And even then, some of us don’t think much of “SoftLayer service”. Unless of course you’re a known spammer who wants bulletproof hosting for at least a while.

LEA, you almost owed me a new laptop for that line. I think I can wipe off the iced tea though. :)

Oops. I meant to say that you get the “SoftLayer prestige that cannot be justified by the high price you pay”.

Micron SLC SATA III SSD space is now included on all nodes (including the lowendbox deal).

You can select it from the “Secondary Storage” menu.

This deal seems to have dried up — it now says $9.95 for the xen box and another $14.95 for the SSD.

LEA, can you fix the icons to be at least unique to IP’s?

Because other comments such as “Everybody should get a free laptop!” from some other Tom are not made by me.

If anyone is interested, here is my review for them:

I know the prices may not be the most budget, but I have pretty good impression with them, particularly with the SSD drives and of course the customer service as well.

Your test in the SSD probably may not be accurate if you let the device getting full. Use a smaller test file (count)

And btw, as I said you before, but you didn’t noticed, stop using Geekbench 2.2, search in LET for a thread about it

Yap, after failing so many times, I think it is time to give up using GB 2.2….
