SSD VPS launched to “fill a gap in the VPS market by providing Ultra-Fast SSD powered RAID10 VPS”. They have been listed on LEB twice before. SSD VPS are using the Intel Xeon E3-1240v2 Quad Core CPU, 4x 480 GB Intel 520 Series SSD and a LSI 9260-4i with BBU providing hardware RAID 10. On the ticket, they mention that for this offer “additional IPv4 on 1 GB offer are 50 cents/IP and on the 2 GB plan it is 35 cents/IP”. I don’t think I’ve seen IP’s cheaper than 35c, apart from when they’ve been free! If you’re a customer, be sure to leave your review below.

SSD VPS accepts payments via PayPal, Visa and Mastercard. According to their website, all their services come with a 72 hour money back guarantee. All servers come with free automated daily backups (using SolusVM FTP automated backups) with two days retention. Plans will be instantly activated upon payment receipt. Unfortunately, as they’re with ColoCrossing, IPv6 is not available at this time. Legal adult content and gaming is allowed. For more information, please review their Terms of Service.

Servers are located with ColoCrossing at the QuadraNet datacenter in Los Angeles, California.

Just grabbed a 2GB VPS for $7 a month. Good deal, especially considering I’ve been paying $2.50 for a 256MB VPS that I use for web hosting.

So far it has been super fast and the support is very quick.

        • It appears SolusVM isn’t limiting ports correctly, to not “over promise” we decided to leave the offer at 100 Mbps until we can come up with a solution for this problem.

  14. Hey Jared,

First off, nice site. I like the design. I have a couple questions though:

Why does the address on your WhoIS go to the datacenter? Not a huge deal, but I usually check that when looking into providers.
Never heard of you guys before, how long have you been in business?

    • I would rather leave my personal home address off my whois and use the data center’s address instead. All of our staff are remote staff in the US.

We have been in business since April 2013.

        Read Bandwidth 29.3 MB/second
        Write IOPS 190696.0
        Write Bandwidth 762.7 MB/second

ALERT: Do not use your super-secret-everyday password. Your password choice comes in plain text in emails. True accross the board, not just VPS-SSD.

First time VPS ordering. Simultaneously ordered from both VPS SSD and BitAccel with additional IPs.

VPS-SSD: 65% discount applied to additional IPs as well. Also they are offering more for the same $ than BitAccel. Order got cancelled because they don’t have 5 IPs to give me at the moment (makes me wonder about size of their operation). I am still resolving the matter with them patiently hoping that it is just a minor inconvenience.

BitAccel: No discount on addons, just the VPS. No problem processing the order. VPS is up. But no communication on IPs. So I have to figure out where they are or am I waiting for them.

I signed up for VPS last week and I was hosting static files. Had unexpected surge of visitors. 1200 in one hour, and my server stop responding. Server was running fine, but network was chocking.

My Shared hosting (A2Hosting) and another nodejs VPS (Less memory and regular HD) was serving more traffic with mysql and redis updates.

After 3-4 hours when traffic reduced to 700 visitors/hour, I thought SSDVPS will be able to handle it, but nope, I was wrong. My shared hosting and another VPS served traffic without any issue.

Thankfully I had S3 account, so I updated DNS record and site was slow/not reachable for only few minutes.

SSDVPS is fast when serving little traffic. Faster than my other VPS and shared hosting.

    1) All emails sent from their systems are sent as ssdvps@main Our mails systems rejected all their emails as sender address is not fully-qualified address

    2) Loaded up cPanel and found cPanel quotas not working. After doing the usual checks I sumbmitted a ticket to ask if secndond level quotas are enabled on the VPS, and I get the response below.

    Too bad support service!.

Two days ago I’ve purchased a vps for testing purposes because I want to move all my stack to another provider… but before to do that I’m testing too much.

I did never receive any email notifications, so I can’t enter to SolusVM.
In the order process I’ve selected the ubuntu 12.04 x64 template and when I enter from shell the OS whas Centos. Without the access information to SolusVM I Can’t reinstall. I ask the support to reinstall and the answer was: “you can reinstall by clicking the reinstall button at the bottom of your vps control panel in the general tab”, but how to do that without access to SolusVM?

But not everything is bad, the performance (specifically disk I/O) is really good.

Support service need to be improved.

IMO, they are only good for non-serious hosting. They have several internal processes to fix before they can become a reasonable hosting company.

I signed up with them a month or so ago. I also included 5 additional IPs in my order. They could never deliver me the extra IPs. But they did deliver me some issue that lead to me giving up on them.

      1. Because they could not deliver 5 additional IPs, they had to cancel my order. That also means that any monthly paypal payment setup I did for them got cancelled too.

      2. They told me to signup for just the hosting as they will need about a week to add IPs to my hosting, which I did. I kept checking periodically and reminding them about pending IP request occassionally. I never got the additional IPs for my one month stay with them.

      3. Suddenly at the end of the month my hosting was “suspended”. When I looked deeper into it, I found out that they sent me a notice a day before susspension. The incident taught me a good lesson, and I guess I should give them credit for it. Always read non-payment policies of your hosting company. I don’t want to host with a company who do not want to give me reasonable time to sort out any non-payment issues. As far as their policy goes, it says 3 days. It did not matter to them a bit when I reminded them that they are not following their own policy by suspending me in 1 day. To me it was obvious that they are not for me.

      4. If you were wondering whey did I not pay at the first place, this is what happened. When I signed up the second time (because they cancelled my order with hosting + 5 ips), the payment setup with paypal was not an automatic monthly payment. I had no clue about it until after the suspension. Like every other hosting I have ever done, I thought that it was automatic monthly payment and the invoice email was just an fyi.

To me the whole exercise boiled down to the conclusion that they are not yet ready with good business policies and practices. Luckily I was just in my first month of hosting. I did invest a good amount of time prepping it with my eComm site that I was planning to move. But felt still better to loose that effort than having a live shutdown without sufficient warning.

So, i got a VPS off these guys, 2GB for $7, worked great for about a week then randomly the VPS stopped working, i tried to login to my account on their website but the password was wrong(like it had been changed, because its remembered by my browser), no worries, i hit reset password, waited almost an hour, no email? Did it again, this time i waited overnight, no email ever came. Before you ask, no it wasn’t in my spam folder.
A little annoyed, i used their contact thing on their website, sent it in, again waiting quite some time, no reply, did it a few more times, no reply.
No email(s) ever came, even after weeks.
Then, little bit pissed off, i got their contact email, mailed it and waited 2 weeks.
    No. Reply.

So, basically they scammed me, I should’ve filed a chargeback/dispute with these guys, but over $7 it probably wasn’t worth it.
