Here is another game-hosting-turned-VPS-provider. CEO of StrikeForce Hosting, William, has emailed me their special coupons for LowEndBox. They have recently released their OpenVZ plans, and two of their plans fit through our listing criteria.
- Storm VPS (Sign up link)
- 256MB memory
- 10GB storage
- 500GB/month data transfer
- $5.95/month with coupon code STORM
- Thunder VPS (Sign up link)
- 512MB memory
- 20GB storage
- 1000GB/month data transfer
- $6.95/month with coupon code STORM
Servers are in Chicago. Domain registered since June 2009. From their About Us page they have been pretty honest about stating “We currently do not offer 24/7 support as SFH is owned and ran by two individuals at this time in which case, one of them is currently away at school and the owner works a day job as well as goes to school”. IRC, VPN, torrent/P2P are explicitly allowed in their AUP UPDATE: torrent/P2P are actually not allowed per contract with the upstream provider, as noted by William and amendment to AUP is coming.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.

“OpenVZ VPS Release
SFH has released it’s VPS Hosting plans. We have been working on setting things up and testing them for awhile now and today we decided that we are satisfied with the way things are working. To celebrate it’s release we are offering a 25% off to all new customers on all VPS plans from May 14th to July 1st 2011. To take advantage of this promotion, simply use the promotional code: “SFHVPSRELEASE” during the ordering process.”
Then the Storm VPS comes to $5.21
Yes I saw that. But Thunder would still be more expensive, and it’s not recurring.
I tried to order, and it says recurring o_O
@ Yomero, Yes, the release special is recurring but it only applies for the first 3 months. The promotions posted on LowEndBox is recurring with no end date.
Thanks for the info
