TheHostHouse - £4.06 512MB Xen HVM VPS in UK

TheHostHouse Jonathan from TheHostHouse has sent me some updates with their previous KVM offers + new coupon code for their Xen HVM deals. First of all, their £2.97/month (~USD$4.88) 256MB KVM plans are still around. Use promo code KVMRECUR to get 40% off recurring discount to get that price. Here is what you will get:

  • 256MB memory
  • 16GB storage
  • 160GB/month data transfer
  • KVM/SolusVM

Jonathan has also prepared some special Xen HVM plans that can be customised, and promo code XEN50OFF that get you 50% off recurring discount — including configuration options! So I am able to get the following system up for £4.08/month (~USD$6.70).

  • 512MB memory (from configuration options)
  • 16GB storage
  • 160GB/month data transfer
  • Xen HVM/SolusVM

Here is the link where all the offers are. Jonathan has even included the actual coupon codes on the page to make sure you don’t pay full price! :) Servers in UK. Do check previous post where you’ll find discussions and benchmarks. They have also done quite a bit of work on offering FreeBSD to their customers. FreeBSD 8.2 is now available, and their own local FreeBSD repository. Jonathan has been in business since 2003 (at Sipero.com).

In to the 2nd month with these guys (kvm) and so far *very* happy; great performance with very helpful & prompt support. Two thumbs up.

  2. Ordered one, but thanks to paypal my account is probably going to need manual activation.
Also found the signup a little confusing, as I was trying to specify a UK location but then could not get the offer price.

      • 16 Gb of storage has not been used but the space on this partition has been used up. The host node has 3.5 Tb of RAID 10 storage so plenty of space even for clients that want to upgrade their storage.

One of the worst support system i ever got. I will inform lowendbox to remove this listing from your website. After reading here i bought their service and here is what is experienced:

    1. I paid but the status is not paid.
    2. I opened a support ticket.
    3. I got a reply after 24 hours asking my invoice details.
    4. Posted invoice details in support ticket then i got the VPS details in my mail.
    5. I tried to login to my control panel without any luck.
    6. I opened another support ticket without any luck.

I think i am going to rob out. So their service is not recommended at all. I am a very big customer of VPS. I think it is better to use my old provider.

    Thanks.

        Hi Asim,
Then i think i am one of their special customer they don’t count. I am using Germany based server.

        I got another incident now:
I opened a support ticket to change the rDNS setup. I read well and post the ticket according to their rules. I got replies after 2 or 3 hours. Good. But after 24 hrs the rDNS is still pending. It is not showing up. So i replied the ticket again and waiting for the response.

I don’t know their server well, but i am indicating towards their poor support system. I hope it will be OK and i will get a good VPS provider for all my future needs.

        Thank you.

Your payment was via Alertpay I believe and I could not trace the payment which is why I asked for details but I did actually activate your VPS during this time, Since then I’ve also resent your login details and as requested setup your rDNS. Please bear in mind that sales and rDNS requests are not dealt with 24/7.

I actually respind to your rDNS request within 90 minutes but these can take around 12 hours or sometimes longer to fully update on the internet.

I’ve replied to all outstanding tickets but I think with your I need to raise this with the DC as the rDNS does not seemed to update yet. Apolgies for any delay in replying buy since this posting we have been getting sanything you to 15 new orders per day and lots of pre-sales enquiries. We are trying to process these ASAP.

  12. Jonathan Hamon:

For sake of clarity rDNS and sales/pre-sales requests are NOT dealt with 24/7 These are dealt with during normal UK business hours of 1000 to 1800. Sometimes we will deal with these outside these hours but we don’t guarantee that.

If I choose quarterly billing and after the quarter choose annual billing will the discount continue? Also will the discount apply to upgrades taken at a later date?

  16. We did sell out of KVM VPS but as this promotion has proved very successful and there is still good demand I’ve added more special offer stock with the 40% recurring discount. Don’t miss out as although we will do more offers in the future these will be at a higher price.

Stocks are also getting low on both the XEN and XEN HVM plans with the 50% recurring discount. With current order levels these will probably only last between 3 and 10 days.

  17. Following client requests we’ve added a few more XEN PV templates as well but if you don’t see the one you want just open a Pre-Sales request with your needs and we will do our best to add it if possible. Over the past 6 weeks we have more than doubled the available XEN HVM and KVM ISOs available for installation.

Group order link updated – Just selected US KVM and this will be setup in the US DC https://secure.thehosthouse.co.uk/cart.php?gid=15

Promotion codes KVMBETA 60% one time and KVMRECUR 40% recurring apply whilst stock lasts but only 12 VMs currently available so we expect to sell out fast.

  22. We have no plans to repeat the same offer as our nodes are near to capacity and our costs are rising. As some of you may be aware there is now a worldwide shortage of hard disks and price of 1TB hard disks have increased by at least $100 over the price a few months ago following the recent floods in Thailand.

Please feel free to submit a pre-sales support ticket and I’ll see what I can offer you.
