LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

veVPS - $7 1024MB OpenVZ VPS in Scranton

Updated May 2011: veVPS.com is now redirecting to VolumeDrive. Looks like they might have been acquired (after being half-dead for a while).

veVPS Here is another low-cost VPS with 1GB of memory, which I would hardly call that “low end”. veVPS is just starting out, and is offering LowEndBox readers a special. Use promo code LowEndBox to get their “veMini” VPS package for $7/month (reduced from $8.95/month). Direct sign up link here.

  • 1024MB memory
  • 40GB storage
  • 2TB/month data transfer on 100Mbps
  • OpenVZ/vePortal

Servers are in Scranton with BurstNet (who seems to be vePortal’s biggest customer). No IPv6 however (unlike BurstNet’s own VPS plans), nor any IRC activity. Domain created merely a week ago. WHOIS shows a PA address that’s within 20 minutes of where BurstNet is and I am not sure how valid it is. This offer has also been advertised on WHT without the discount, and the same account is also running top-host listing site and selling a shared hosting shop.

BurstNET are one of the only users of vePortal. They use the excuse that SolusVM didn’t work on their servers, but thats because their CentOS Template they install on their dedicated server has broken repo’s which makes SolusVMs installation fail (although theres fix instructions on the web which I used).

BurstNET also pretty much give away vePortal, but in terms of feature and usability, its not as superior and standard as SolusVM.

I agree with Daniel here. It’s almost as if vePortal are developing BurstvePortal and basing it around their needs and when they point something out. I see nobody else even caring to offer it, nor do they want to.

  3. For those who ordered our LowEndBox offer and still waiting for provisioning, next VPS batch should be provisioned by the morning. We are sorry about the delay, but we received an huge amount of orders (lot more than expected) on the first 24 hour.

    March 21, 2011 @ 3:01 am | Reply
    • Not to pinch pennies… well yeah I will, every penny counts.

I understand issues with having alot of orders, but the clock is ticking. Thats less time I can abuse bandwidth(lol j/k). But you get my point don’t you? WHMCS’s clock is ticking, we paid on time and provisioning for OpenVZ doesn’t take that long(whmcs should be handling that anyway).

So far I’m 2 days shorted and you’re heading home with a two day backlog of orders?
      I’ll take my refund thx.

      • Hey no problem just drop a ticket to get your refund, someone else will be glad to take that incredible offers as we are currently running low on stock.

We just completed another huge batch of VPS, servers ordered today after 19H est should be online by the morning (est)

        Thank you!

“Please read our terms of service and submit cancellation/refund request properly has the VPS has already being setup within the 48 hours stated on our FAQ.”

Apparently you need the $7 badly.

        • Simply request your refund with proper reason has stated on our terms of service via email/ticket system and a refund will be provisioned. Thanks!

        • TonyUFN:

That was done, along with a note “as you directed”

Now you have modified your terms page and issued an invoice for a $175 administrative fee for disputing with paypal. And to think I was going to just let the $7 go. Not anymore. At least you could have had the motivation to put a logo on your invoice.

What a dirtbag way to keep $7. never even logged into the thing. Like I said before… keep the $7, good luck trying to collect the newly made up fee.

          March 24, 2011 @ 4:32 am | Reply
        • TonyUFN:

also figured you should know(so you can change your terms again), a dispute is not a chargeback YET. Its a method to resolve an issue. As you replied to it and have claimed i have received my vps, paypal “would” find in your favor. But being that I learned a lesson, I would have just used the vps for the month and gave you the $7, cancelling the dispute.

But the way you have handled this makes me wonder. Its not like you are going to get the $175 from me anyway. So now you’ve got me entertained and it’s going to be worth the $7 to make sure the word gets out. I’m going to wait for a few days before I cancel the dispute… thus invalidating your invoice for $175 for the “chargeback”. As since it was never charged back, the wording within your TOS becomes invalid and you’ve thus improperly billed me.

This is going to be fun.

          ——
Sorry LowEndAdmin & Daniel… I really don’t want to waste space on your site as I find it VERY helpful in finding great vps providers. But everyone should be aware of how this is being handled in order to make their own decisions.

          March 24, 2011 @ 5:01 am | Reply
        • Just read terms of service prior to signup with any commercial services. The billing manager who handled your account did the right thing.

I’ve just myself replied to your ticket and in good faith cancelled the fee and also make sure its refunded has soon paypal complete his investigation into your Non-receipt Item dispute.

          March 24, 2011 @ 5:38 am | Reply
        • TonyUFN:

Yep, I sure did get your email/ticket response and replying myself. Since its only $7(as I’ve said before, not alot) I’ll cancel the dispute. Which again makes me doubt some things. How is it you do not know that I can directly cancel it without their review? Are you THAT new? All it would have taken was communication, not “quickie replies” to make it look like you are working nicely with customers.

I’ll drop our conversation on WHT later, as I want to watch what happens. Since I want to call you on it, I’m going to go ahead and cancel the complaint. I don’t care that it cant be opened again. But there are a few more things I want to watch for.

        • Sure, spread the word about us ;) again make sure to state that everything happened in your case has been caused because you ordered a product and agreed with the terms of service then decided to do your own agreement with the service provide to you as courtesy by veVPS.com.

Sure thing, I copy and paste as good as anyone else. Yes, I still have copies of all of the tickets and emails.
And on top of that you have now received payment on a product you have terminated. And it was never logged in, so I’m glad you play by your own rules as there was no violation of TOS or AUP causing termination. The money never left your account but you terminated anyway.
If you were right all along, then why did you terminate it and not be able to justify the charge?

      @Ko Min,
Some people pointed out that it is new company and it could be, might be, and is reseller of BurstNet. Because new startup can show up to day and gone a few month down the road. Not all resellers are bad but some of us want to be cautious about new provider/reseller.

For example, Most of LEB users encounter bad experienc with Burstnet reseller CPANEL.ME including LEA. But I test out their service last year and not that bad for LEB. They also gave me really cheap discount even offered me 3 months free. Of course they were down every month or other month. But it was useable and it is way a lot better than Hostrail.

Coming to a third party site, demanding and then expecting a refund just doesn’t make sense. They have no account information from your comments here, no proof you’re actually who you say you are and nothing to tie your name to one of their accounts.

I am only pointing out all of the grammatical and spelling errors on their site as well as emails. The way in which they use the language shows that they obviously do not use it as their first. That is a fair warning and not derogatory in any other way, but simply a warning that you could be misunderstood over the smallest thing.

(I’m posting this here for others to read, and also because it’s the only way to communicate since my ticket is unanswered)

I bought my VPS before you ran the promotion, I got it after a day or two but there wasn’t and still isn’t a control panel. The first time it went down I raised a ticket and it was more than 12 hours before it was up again. The second time it went down I also raised a ticket, it’s still down and has been now for 3 1/2 days!!!! I haven’t had any replies to the ticket so I raised a paypal dispute (what else could I do?).

If you’d have provided the control panel you said you would I could have dealt with this myself,
“you should be able to login on vePortal by tomorrow until if you have anything to be done on the backend, please open another ticket to support”, you said this 21st March!!!! I opened a ticket and nothing happened, not even a message saying sorry we’re busy but we’ll get to this asap.

Restart it and extend the renewal date by 4 days and I’ll cancel the paypal dispute, I’ll be happier and your reputation might be improved a little.

My ram usagae was around 1.5gb consistently (it never went above 2gb) and I was using a fair amount of cpu consistently (around 50-60%). Additionally I was using a fair amount of bandwidth, howver over a whole month the total would have been less than 1/3 of the 3000gb the account promises.

I signed up before the promotion was offered and before the changes to the TOS were made, there was nothing. It’s funny how the ‘abuse’ claim was only made to me after my VPS had been down for 3 1/2 days with my ticket unanswered. As far as I can tell the only ‘abuse’ is actually using the resources that the package is supposed to provide.

In any case, if you felt there was a problem with the way I was using the service you communicated your concerns to me and maybe suspend it if absolutely necessary, that would be the right way to deal with it (in compliance with your own aup).

His servers was online since almost a week, we received abuse report and suspended his VPS.

If he let me share the abuse report i’ll be glad to gave it to you.

I’m a legit user who’s still waiting to find out why my VPS was suspended without any notice or even confirmation until 3 1/2 days later, you said you’d provide the reason why but haven’t (I’ve been waiting now for several days). Could it be that you don’t have legitimate reason for suspending it?

It seems to me that the only problem you have with this service is that the advertised resource limits are inaccurate eg you advertise 2gb/3000tb/2 cores but if more than half (or whatever this unknown limit is) is used it’s you count it as abuse and suspend the VPS. That’s fraud, however if the resources were correctly advertised you’d have more happy customers and a much better reputation.

And like 99.9999% of Torrents are pirates. The only legal torrent I know is that WoWs inbuilt installer uses P2P.

The problem with BitTorrent, Vuze, it that it downloads from 50 people at your max download connection (lets say 8MBPs), then it uploads AT the same time at your max upload (300kbps). Thats what my brother used to do and the internet just packed in.

WoWs installed takes it in turns, you download at 2mbps, then a few mins later you take it in turn to upload. Of course Blizzard allow you to turn this off.

@veVPS you do realise your going to break his privacy, and he could potentially sue you.
