LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

Volt-VPS - $4.48 256MB OpenVZ VPS in Scranton

Volt-VPS Volt-VPS is one case where I am not too sure whether I should post their offer, but they posted their supposedly “LowEndBox deal” on WHT anyway where there seems to be quite a few people who went and took up the offer. So here we go. Got an email from “John” from Volt-VPS last week while I was on holidays, offering 50% off recurring discount using the coupon code lowendbox50off. Their cheapest plan “Volatic” meets the requirement. However by the time you do the checkout it also adds in some mystical “All @ 12%”, which then the total comes down to $4.48/month. It has

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 25GB storage
  • 200GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers with VolumeDrive inside BurstNET DC in Scranton (test IP: 173.242.123.147). At least it has a valid SSL certificate during ordering. Its About page claims to be US/UK based. However when I first saw the website, it looks exactly the same as Canada-based VPSRocket who went into dead pool in April. So I replied John asking whether there’s any association, and I got the response saying that they simply bought the design. Ahem. At the same time “Volt-Host.com” is still registered to Mark P of failed VPSRocket, and MisterTickle who posted the WHT offer for Volt-VPS has Volt-Host listed under his contact information.

Domain was registered in April 2011 with WHOIS privacy protection. They are using CloudFlare for DNS but their website does not seem to be sitting behind it. WHMCS is licensed to a completely different person, which with a bit of googling shows he’s also Canada-based. So maybe they have purchased not just the design but the whole business? I’ll label it with Buyers Beware for this one, and would wait a few months to see whether it would follow the same fake as VPSRocket.

Oh, come now. It’s not as if they’re harboring some illusion that the empty promises on their website are anything other than empty promises… right? :)

(Answer: Of course not, because they probably haven’t actually read their own website…)

You’re doing this so long… in benefit of us all that you shouldn’t have obstacles to write own opinion now every time when you see something wrong. I would hate to see that those attacks forced you to change your writings. Don’t give up, you’re doing this so well too long to give up just because some newly appeared annoyance.
I know, I know, it’s easy for me to say… but abusive kids come and go while those pages are more than that. Stay as you are, they way we like you :)

Nice layout of the homepage, woulda been nicer if that layout was maintained on the shopping cart (whmcs).

No domain TLDs have been configured on the WHMCS. They should either take down the “register domain” option for the plans or configure “domain pricing” for at least the common TLDs.

On Simple dns searches, it seems that Vpsrocket belongs to VPS-HOST.com which also sells game servers.
They seem to be affliated/own seedboxbaby.com who sell shared hosting and seedboxes

    so how now?

I would like to clear up some things for anyone else who is reading.

John is not an ‘Hackforums kid’.

I am Gregg and I work for Volt VPS as the MD of technical support and sales. I have a pretty good reputation and as such I knew I could exploit the forum to gain sales for Volt VPS. It worked, we gained at the very least 50 customers within one month, which is great for us, and great for everyone else wondering about purchasing because it confirms our success and not our closure.

As for the relation with RocketVPS, Volt Host, SeedBoxBaby and anything else, I will explain further :

Volt Host is a gameserver provider that has been providing *mainly* SA-MP based game hosting since 2009. In actual fact it is about to launch into providing source based servers and Minecraft servers. It was founded by Mark and John, John maintains his 50% share of profits however he does not directly affiliate himself with Volt Host.

VPSRocket is a VPS company which Mark attempted to start, it failed, however as we are in close relations with Mark we offered to purchase the design for our upcoming VPS provider ‘Volt VPS’. Volt can be seen by many as a ‘network’ of projects which we have planned to start since late 2008 and early 2009.

Myself, maintained a shared hosting provider which has recently been closed for reasons which would take me a little too long to explain in this post. I have also recently purchase the domain SeedBoxBaby.com for an planned project of mine.

We all refer to each others sites out of common courtesy, so if you see Volt Host or any other hosting provider of sorts listed on any of our sites, it does not mean that we are directly affiliated with them.

I hope this clears things up. I can answer any other questions that anyone has.

If this is a sister web with volt-host I don’t recommend it. Volt had problems with huge loads/lag on there Pennsylvania dedis and if there using the same ones for “volt vps” then I truly don’t recomend it.

I also had problems when i was with them, they may of changed or may not. But I would stay way.

I can once again speak for Mark @ Volt-Host by addressing the ‘lag’ issue.

He did indeed use BurstNET for the Scranton PA location and unfortunately the network speeds were not good enough, he then switched all of his servers over to Ubiquity and since then this lag issue has being fixed.

My personal opinion is that you cannot judge an hosting provider entirely upon their problems but how they go about solving those problems. Volt Host has been running since 2009 and has overcome any issue it has had with its clients, when I was involved with Volt-Host I came to see how John worked on a very personal level with the clients.

We of course cannot expect people from LowEndBox who have purchased within the past day or so to vouch for us as a few days is not enough to review a service, I do hope however that within the next month or so some of our new clients will come forward and sum up the service that they recieved.

I’m on them for one month hosting a VPN, they didn’t got me down. Great uptime and speeds, professional service.

This is only my opinion and my experience with them. Thanks.

Again, It does not matter, than your saying that he had lag issues because speed was not good enough, so you’r basically saying speeds are not good enough here eather with your vps?
