Didn’t need another VPS but the specs look good and I don’t have anything non-US at the moment. Great speed tests from ColoCrossing in NY and a RamNode VPS in Seattle, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

I did wind up canceling my VPS, however. You seem to be on a great network (speed-wise), especially to many US locations but the actual machine underperformed and I got a lot of latency when connecting directly from my house.

I see that the VPS has been shut down already. Just curious how long refund processing usually takes.

    What to say about VPSSlim….schizophrenic?

The network is one of the best I’ve experienced in the low-end arena, and frequently provides better speeds than some of the bigger players. But of course, to use that network, it has to be up, which is frequently becoming an issue with VPSSlim. Over the last months, I’ve grown used to multiple network dropouts per day (I can see 4 in the last 24 hours, one of at least 20 minutes), and this is clearly something they know about, but are unable to fix as I’ve had multiple emails stating that they’re doing something with the nodes to fix network problems. I/O also goes from respectable to absolutely dreadful.

In short, do your homework before making a yearly commitment. If these guys ever get on top of their problems, they’ve got the beginnings of a decent service, but that’s a big ‘if’ for me right now.

      Hi,

Thank you for your comment. It has some great tips to improve our support structure.

We are sorry for the problems you may have had when using your VPS. You should have received statements about the cause of your problem. If not then you can email us to ask for a statement.

Thank you again for your input :)

        Hi,

As I said, I get frequent emails from you saying that you need to reboot rooters etc. for fixes to take effect, I don’t raise tickets with you because you’re clearly aware of the problem.

My issue that is that despite all the work you do on this front, the problems still persist. I don’t see this happening with any other provider, so either you’re in a bad DC, or you don’t have the requisite skills in your support teams to fix network issues.

more lag more downtime more suspended node, what a joke hostslim is i would not recommend this to my worst enemy, what a nightmare i had there i once had 15+ vps and all had same issues very poor indeed.

and from what i can tell they dump all the specials on one server and overload it to death, then shitty support- “is that better””is that fixed” ” your abusing the node your using high cpu resources what with one website running on 4 gig ram
dont run anything important here that i can say for sure and ralph the one man support team what a joke

  6. Freek:

Do yourself a favor and avoid VPSSlim/Hostslim. The uptime of the past month has been 95% and everytime there is some excuse that your VPS has to be rebooted.
I’ve been with VPSSlim/Hostslim for about 3 months now. In the beginning, i.e. the first 2 weeks, all was well. Performance was great and so was uptime. But then the horror started. Nodes are extremely oversold and therefore very unstable. I/O is usually piss-poor and everything feels slower than a Celeron mining Bitcoins. I’ve been moved to another node because of this, and the same it was exactly the same story; The first 2 weeks were great, but after the box got crowded, it was sluggish again.
VPSSlim/Hostslim is a one man show. There’s nothing wrong with that, but Ralph, the owner, likes to solve problems using a game that’s called ‘Is it better now?’ If you open up a ticket, complaining about the performance, he will update the ticket in 5-15 minutes asking ‘Is it better now?’. Sometime it is, sometimes it isn’t. What I can tell you is that it isn’t better in the long run.
Anyway, all in all HostSlim/VPSSlim tries, but that just isn’t enough. Nodes are oversold and unstable, but on the other hand ‘Support’/ Ticket responses are be fast and friendly. In the end that doesn’t matter if the service quality does not improve. Therefore I would not recommend VPSSlim/HostSlim to anyone.

Cannot agree more to that, besides they won’t let you do anything with your server after all.

They fix the problem for one day just to keep your mouth shut but then it will happen again and again and again

      Total waste of time…

I actually mean that you are censored, vpsslim will actually choose the applications you can run or you cannot on your vps, i.e. each vps is not very well isolated from one another and you cannot use your total CPU slice….

This means that we will set a maximum amount of VPSSES per offer. Also we are planning to upgrade the current nodes and will use new nodes with cached SSD HWRAID-10.

Thank you for your input Freek, althought it wasn’t always as nice/friendly towards us :)

in second mail told me to just cancel in the client area witch i have already done
in the third mail they asked me for my transaction id.

Hi all,I’m also belong to the group of dissapointed users ;D

I bought a VPS last offer. In the beginning, everything was right and I was surprised and exicted, after 1-2 weeks problems came out: internet connection loss, slow I/O, couldn’t connect ssh…

Moreover, when I bought my VPS they had no TOS, and since they are in Netherlands I wanted the VPS to use Torrent. I even asked to Ralph here, if Torrent was allowed, and he told me it was no problem. After 1 month, Ralph sent me an email telling me that I must turn off torrent or my service would be canceled.

I know its a cheap service, but its kinda useless since you can’t do anything enough well with these machines:

    – Bitcoin mining stops since it uses too much CPU.
    – Websistes are slow since I/O is slow.
    – Torrent is not allowed.
    – I didnt try VPN, but it looks like it falls as everything does.

I just learn something, I prefer getting a real dedicated server from OVH for 6 months for rather than one of this.

    Regards

I was told torrents were allowed too prior to purchasing the yearly plan and then the files I downloaded were deleted without notice. There was also no acceptable use policy on their home page.

It’s a nice scam they have going on. Setup yearly plans obviously suited for torrenting with 100 GB space and 2000 GB of bandwidth located in the Netherlands. Offer a 7 day money back guarantee and then once that time passes, start enforcing a no torrent policy and refuse refunds.

I have ordered 4 VPS at hostslim a few months ago and I can confirm a lot of comments above.

I ordered using lowendbox 75% discount offer. I took yearly plans with directadmin (free on yearly plan) and additional IPs. Once my order paid, Ralph gave me the first VPS but without Directadmin and IPs telling me that it was a bug from their website and it was not included in the offer but I could buy them separately. Note that price with DA and IPs was higher than VPS with DA only so I paid for the IPs for sure.

    Sample of the invoice:

    3 x LITE VPS (19/03/2013 – 18/03/2014)
Control panel: DirectAdmin one year (only choose on Annual order)
    Extra traffic: None
    IP addresses: 6
We advice you a support plan: None
    3 x Promotional Code: LEB-OFF-75 – 75.00% Recurring Discount

    LITE VPS (19/03/2013 – 18/03/2014)
Control panel: DirectAdmin one year (only choose on Annual order)
    Extra traffic: None
    IP addresses: 1 (included)
We advice you a support plan: None
    Promotional Code: LEB-OFF-75 – 75.00% Recurring Discount

(I can post the whole invoice if needed)

Next, we found an agreement: Ralph agreed to give me 2 more VPS for 1 year to balance what I paid and what I received. I am still waiting for those VPS and get no answer to my support tickets.

When you submit a ticket, keep in mind that it will be answered at least 2 days after and very often much more after.

Now they suspended one of my VPS because it was taking too much ressources (no problem for that, if I made a mistake, I have to find it). They asked me to check it when they unsuspend it but I am still waiting for my VPS to be back…
