We listed Vstoike.ru for the first time as a surprise post, without them knowing it. They caught the bug though and now send in offers regularly. These still are some of the cheapest offers I’ve seen so far in Russia. These VPS are hosted on modern hardware with Intel Xeon CPUs. All hardware and even the data center is Saint Petersburg is owned by Vstoike. They also have their own IPs and uplinks and provide 24×7 support. They have quite a comprehensive website, though it’s completely in Russian so you’d need to use an online translation tool to read it if you don’t speak any Russian. IPv6 comes standard with these machines. They seem to be using SolusVM as a control panel. The default port speed is 100Mbps, but it may be upgraded for a fee to either 1Gbps or 10Gbps. Please let us know if you’re a customer or if you decided to try them out. Your opinion is always valued. Reviews on their last offer were quite positive. Enjoy this offer!

Vstoike.ru accepts WebMoney, PayPal, credit cards, and some other payments methods for payments. Various OS can be installed and I believe they’re even willing to add an ISO per your request. Servers come pre-installed with the OS you select during checkout. Tor, IRC, and VPN are allowed. SPAM, viruses or controlling viruses, and DDoS are not allowed. Their Terms of Service should be read before ordering, as usual. All payment methods are also listed on this page.

Kids like this and the fact they seem to get away with this stuff is why I hate LowEndBox and LowEndTalk. If the mods don’t think he should be banned, then they should add a section to all of the offers answering his question. That way he won’t have to ask his stupid question over and over and over. Asking him to stop is like telling a wall to stop being a wall. I always think that if this is how childish people like this act online, then are they even worse offline? I can just see him crying to his parents because he was told to do something. I guess he doesn’t understand that nobody has to do anything just because he said so.

I’ve had a server with vStoike for some time now with no problems at all.
Uptime is good, resources doesn’t seem to get oversold like some other providers on here and the few times I needed support they were fast and helpful, both before and after purchase.

I am using a VPS from their last promo since 32 days now. No hiccup, no downtime, snappy and responsive. I really cannot complain. I have no idea about their support speed or quality, because I never had to contact them during the last month. :-)

Second – we are not some cheap openvz-5000clients-ononeserverCompany. We use KVM without overprovisioning and precisely monitore every VPSs io usage as well as cpu usage.
      Thanks

        • If he is the one who I think he is ( same nickname in our system ) – he violated our ToS ( IO usage policy ) and was notified about the issue before his VPS was suspended – he had like ~4 hours to fix it but it was ignored. He is still our client btw.

Just wondered if the KVM/512MB plan is comfortable for running a WordPress photography site for a small set of audience (I guess <100 unique hits per day max). Nothing fancy. Debian + NGINX/apache + mySQL + PHP. How close will I be to the ceiling?

    December 23, 2014 @ 11:53 am | Reply
    • It should be more than enough as long as you can fit your photos in 30GB.

can anyone tell me if a 512 MB KVM is sufficient for a single website with monthly 8-9k Unique Visitors (avg daily 300 ). The site does not contain any big size file for downloading. Thanks in advance.

    December 24, 2014 @ 6:32 am | Reply
    • Hi,

It depends on your website. If you have static html files, I’m sure that it will be enough.
But if it’s php website with mysql database – only monitoring tool like munin can tell you.
300 visitors daily = 25-30 users per hour (I dont take night time into consideration), I think (it’s only my opinion) 512 RAM will be enough.

Does this provider have a control panel where you can stop / start / reboot the VPS? Last Russian provider I used didn’t and I had to log a ticket when VM fell over and wait x hours for it to be fixed.

    January 10, 2015 @ 10:48 am | Reply
    • rusp:

Yes, they have such a control panel. While I hate the Java VNC (which is not their fault I guess) the panel is generally complete. As I’m a new customer I didn’t play around a lot but rather cared about what I needed but there is Reboot, Shutdown, an Boot buttons (which work).

There’s also a quite complete “settings”, reverse DNS, and more.

      • Hi,

If you don’t like Java VNC, you can use html5 VNC (noVNC) or client (TightVNC, for example) to connect via VNC.

I’m a new customer and I would give 4 out of 5 points to this VPS.

I bought the 512 MB KVM VPS yesterday and it was ready and at my disposal within minutes after payment.

First, what’s probably most important for most LEB readers: It’s fast. Maybe not fast as in “speed demon” (frankly, I don’t care about benchmarks. I care about how I can work with a VPS and I have experienced some during the years). Latency (I’m in central Europe) is very low, maybe comparable to my Prometeus VPS in Milano, Italy and speed is very good, too. The VPS itself feels about like a dual-core Atom on my LAN. It’s really nice to work with.

Special compliments: I wanted FreeBSD. They had a v. 10.0 image available. I wanted 10.1, however (as I use it everywhere and it’s worth the upgrade). So I opened a request ticket, which was responded to within minutes. 20 or 30 min. later they had made a FreeBSD 10.1 image to me. Excellent!

There are some week points, too. Documentation in English is virtually non-existent and even the Russian section is rather thin (but maybe good. Don’t know as I don’t speak Russian).

Another weak point is that I had to hunt down network info. However, again the support was very friendly, helpful, quick, and fast. They should really create at least a minimum english doc section with at least minimum info like “the netmask is a.b.c.d, the gateway is …” etc.

Again, those are minor weaknesses that are well compensated by their friendly, helpful and quick support.

What really drove me nuts is the VNC. I guess it’s configured for Russian keyboards (which makes sense, vstoike being a Russian hoster) and I had a miserable time using it. Gladly enough, though, that’s needed only for the basic installation of the OS and I recognize (and appreciate) that my case is somewhat special (FreeBSD 10.1. image).

Right now, while typing this, I run a ports upgrade (something like Debians apt-get update and upgrade) and it’s really smoothly running.

All in all I’m a very happy customer of Vstoike and definitely recommend their VPS.

    January 14, 2015 @ 6:07 pm | Reply
    • Thank you for your comment.
I think we’ll begin to create docs section few weeks later. Also, information about network can be found in SolusVM control panel.
And what about VNC – we never configure it for any language, it’s default SolusVM keymap. So I think it’s something about FreeBSD and noVNC/java vnc. But we’ll try to reproduce this problem and fix it.

    • Anirban:

Yup. They are very friendly and prompt. And the best part is I experienced same care before and after sale. I also recommend them to others.

      • rusp:

Yep. In fact, I’m so happy that I report again.

I’ve now used the VPS about 2 – 3 weeks and I’m still happy. Everything works smoothly and feels fast. Support is really quick and friendly.

Some may find this just normal. I don’t. I’ve experienced quite differently with certain providers where one week after buying through a LEB promo you find yourself on an overbooked snail VPS.
        Not so with vStoike.

I gladly and without reservations recommend the vStoike VPS as certainly one of the best in their price class.

  12. Me:

Another customer here, running 1 VPS for around one year, another one for 6 months. The second one is a Tor relay, since some weeks an exit node.
For both machines there’re not much problems at all. I’m monitoring them through another server, Monit restarting the VPN if there’s something wrong. From time to time Monit complains a bit, though it also does with other machines e.g. during a rekey’ing of the VPN’s.
Still nothing hit the monitoring (Icinga and Cacti) about real performance problems. There’ve been a point about the lack of documentation – well – would say then I know what I’m doing because I was never in need of it. The support, if needed which happens very seldom, usually reponds quick and it takes maybe 2-3 (if even) mails to get the reply I was looking for – one ticket was about running Tor, another one to install OpenBSD / FreeBSD.
The VPS panel basically has everything you need – also Out-Of-Band access (through VNC – if enabled) which is a nice goodie.
    Some graphs:

    http://i.imgur.com/GpbhpWd.png
    http://i.imgur.com/mrMtH8q.png

First is the time 3 ping’s need, second one is the percentag of lost packages within these 3 ping’s. The ping’s are triggered by a server in central Europe, which – of course – might have some issues too.

Final point – nice service for a good price.
