LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

XPLHost - $6.36 OpenVZ VPS Spring Special

Update — it appears that XPLHost.com is now redirecting to a parking page. FAIL.

Thanks to abjr pointing out this XPLHost special where you can get a low end OpenVZ VPS for $6.36/month (after the 20% off discount). Here is the spec:

  • 96MB memory guaranteed
  • 7.5GB storage
  • 150GB data transfer
  • CentOS + HyperVM + LxAdmin

Servers seem to be with The Planet in Dallas. 150GB makes it a small file/media serving box on the cheap.

Update: It appears that the deal is no longer valid.

  2. The new special is here:

It’s a semi-managed VPS. So there is less freedom, but also less effort to setup up.

  3. Oh, sorry. Actually the lowest special plan is $7.61 per month now. 7.61 > 7, so maybe I shouldn’t have pasted the link here.

  4. @Ryan — thanks for sharing the 15% off discount although the plan would be outside the cut-off I am using for VPS here.

Looks like the servers are managed although I think for those who are playing around low end Linux/*nix boxes, they’ll probably prefer to have their boxes unmanaged.
