LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

Magoro.com - $60/Year 256MB Xen VPS Exclusive Offer

Magoro Peter at Magoro emailed me their exclusive offer for the LowEndBox readers. You can get their Xen256 package for $60/Year ($5/month) using promo code LEB-1YBSAO through this ordering link.

  • 256MB memory
  • 15GB storage
  • 110GB/month data transfer
  • Xen/SolusVM

Servers are in Troy MI. They are using Xeon E5620 boxes and RAID10 drives, and each Xen node gets access to 4 cores. Not much response from my last post about them so I guess there’s no much interest in there. Domain has been registered since June 2009, and they actually have redundant NS in 2 locations. LLC registered in MI.

    • Just a /27 registered to them? Sorry did not catch what’s interesting about the IP range.

I assume it’s that the registration is “Mangoro” with-an-n, rather than “Magoro”.

      • Probably just a minor mistake on the part of the provider they use – not hard to update it, but they should or else ARIN will have a hissy.

  3. Interesting how they’re running Joomla but yet remove the credit link for it. *shrug* I know there’s no rule about doing so but interesting that they just credit it out instead of removing it from the code.

There a few good reasons to do that actually.

1.) Some businesses think that associating themselves with free software will make them look cheap/bad, and frankly I know of people who think that businesses who use open source won’t last long. At least open source is being used (rather than being ditched), so I say that isn’t a bad thing.

2.) Joomla has been a target of exploits, and many hackers google the copyright footer to find Joomla installations to exploit. Commenting it out will stop search engines from turning up your Joomla installation when these script kiddies try stuff like this.

And finally, it’s not very “interesting” either.

I took a look at the first three sites on the list; none of them left the Joomla footer there.

This is a post about… nothing, really.

      • And there are many reasons why not to do that but I think you may have misunderstood the issue that I was raising.

Matter of opinion actually. While what you list makes sense and I do understand your points, it still doesn’t make it right. Again, it’s interesting that they commented out the link instead of removing it completely. You may want to review what I wrote as it appears you may have misunderstood the issue I was raising. And I’m familiar with the method of google’ing to find the footer sig. There are ways around that.

This is a post about… nothing, really.

I raised an issue that I saw just like you did previously on other posts. I’m sorry that you misunderstood what I was writing about.
