Servers are in Seattle WA with Spectrum Networ (test IP: 63.223.121.189). Supposed to have instant activation, although sign up experience from the previous post beg to differ. Domain registered in Oct 2009, but has WHOIS mask. The same spec Xen PV box can be had for $6/month (see this WHT offer) and is available in both Seattle WA and Scraton PA. However the $6.50 Xen HVM would be useful for running Windows.

Have a XenPV since November 2010, and after some hiccups, so far so good.
Now I have some little problems but, I think can be solved.
I had a Scranton VPS from them for 3 months and the only real problems I ran into were because of Volumedrive network going down.
There was 0 downtime on the machine, I could download 10 mb/s and IO was 30-50 mb/s. I wonder if their Seattle servers are as good.
The network isn’t so good in my case. But the i/o is about the same as your case.

I had a $4 / 256 MB Xen VPS from CurlHost a while back. Since cancelled, but some observations:
(1) The VPS worked beautifully, couldn’t ask for more.
(2) CurlHost support was always there to respond. Excellent job.
(3) For me, there were numerous networking issues. Which is why I eventually cancelled.
Some of those networking issues CurlHost worked on and solved — such as packet lost. But every 2 or 3 days (as I recall) there was another networked interruption.
In hindsight it may not have been anything to do with CurlHost at all. I had a similar crappy (network) experience with Burst. So maybe me and Scranton just don’t get along.
Server-wise and support-wise these guys are very good. If Scranton works for you then it’s a go-go!

Don’t let me put you off Scranton. As I said it could’ve been just me — meaning, network issues between me and Scranton. Happened with CurlHost and Burst and I just didn’t have the time to dig into it.

Curlhost, that rotating script you have on the front page is too fast. You can’t read it. Well at least I can’t.
Jhon H if you haven’t gotten it already, you may want to open up a support ticket to ask. While many hosts are pretty much instant or upwards of 15 minutes, most allow 24 hours to create an account. Only they would be able to tell you though.

To be honest though, opening up additional support tickets is kind of rude. All that does is create extra work and takes their employees away from trying to help you and others. Not cool.

I used speedtest.net to test upload and download speed from my vps window.
It is not a valid test. I just randomly picked up 3 servers location and see how it handle.
Here is my result;
I got 6.5Mbs download and 4.5Mbs uplink from us(central).
from Europe(UK), I got 2.2Mbs download and 1.1Mbs uplink.
from Asia (Lao), I got .88Mbs download and .225Mbs uplink.

17 days later, this issue is still not resolved. They just lost a customer due to this lack of attention. I’m not signing up with a provider who cant even repair their website.

Ordered Windows HVM – works fine except the transferspeed is pretty slow (15 mbit max per thread).
Setup took 3 hours. Support is neither slow nor fast – its ok if you can wait upto 24 hours :)

I apologize for the late update here. I’d like to update everyone on a few issues:
1) VPS has not been setup
The last 2 nodes for this offer had a hardware issue which took long to trace out. We then rebuilt systems using entirely different hardware to get all pending orders up and running. All pending orders should be live within next couple hours.
2) Slow support
We’re not a team of 100 people. Due to the recent issues with the server hardware, a few of the “Sales” and “Billing” department tickets were left unanswered (it’s weekend anyways). Also, *most* of the technical support tickets were answered. I’m unable to find any unanswered ticket which is for everything but provisioning. I apologize for not providing continuous update to all clients, but our priority was to get everything pending to be active asap.
3) Everything should be up and running in next couple hours. If you don’t get the details by this time, please feel free to mail me at ps@curlhost.com Although I hope you won’t have the need to do so :)

Sorry but I didn’t think much of that answer. I know with shared hosting, my busy time is Friday last afternoon, Saturday and Sunday early afternoon. And Tuesday evenings for some strange reason.

I order 2 Xen! the first work very fine! the second not good, but CurlHost tell me they are change the mother server, and let me wait 3-4 day!
I test CurlHost 7 days, the first vps work fine, and very fast, run my programe!!

I’m with Curlhost for 1 week now. 2 downtimes, on is ongoing. Booting my Server (Windows 2003) has no effect. I’m not quite sure if this is the right provider for me.

Ok, this was the worst hosting provider i’ve gone with.
In 2 weeks i had an outage time of more than 11 hours, also my server keeps getting offline randomly from time to time.
Transferspeeds are slow as described before, nothing has been fixed. I’ve just requested them to refund me my money, they can take 50 percent of the money i’ve payed them for setting up my server.
DONT GO WITH CURLHOST, BEWARE!

This is sad, because for me has been a very good experience. I got some performance issues recently but were solved. I have the past offer with 512MB and I will stay with them :P
By thw way, it seems that Up2VPS has some kind of association with Curlhost? Because his test IP is in the same block than my VPS :S But, maybe just are IPs assigned by the datacenter.

Still nothing changed, server down for 12 hours+ now. Just filed Paypaldispute and charged back my money. This company is pure scam.

No reaction here as well anymore. Guess that was the first and last month with Curlhost.
48 hours and still awaiting setup. And I can’t even call the owner because his WHOIS is private.
I have to admit that I would rather not have clients calling me up. Rather do everything over email and tickets.
But yes, 48 hours is a tad excessive. Hate to say it considering that he appears to be responsive up above but you may want to consider cancelling.

Its official now. The probably WORST hosting provider ever. Had several downtimes, got “excuses” about that they will fix the problem, nothing happened. In the end the set me up a complete new VPS. Well, end of the story? Works as bad as before. Questions about a discount for the weak performance get ignored, tickets closed without answering. STAY AWAY!
Well, I have experimented some issues recently, I will wait some extra days, lets see. Is important to me to preserve my IP address. Have been with them since Nov, 2010.
More than a week that I can´t access my VPS. Last ticket answer was telling “that they´ll fix it shortly” … now the ticket was closed and disappeared. Of course without answer. Great service. Paypal dispute opened.

OK, I tried the email address, ps@curlhost.com and got a quick repsonse. Offering to refund me or they could setup the host right away.

its such a joke that company. opened tickets which never got any response. vps is not working at all and from the first couple of days when they did work the performance was more than a bad experience. agree with peter and thomas!
The VPS performance stumbles after the Technical Support reinstalled the VPS. Administ.User named A…T (from China?) connects into my Windows VPS, what for? The sudden shutdown (maybe reset) incidents unexpectedly occur. This has caused me financial loss. So and now is Virtual Server Status: Offline. CurlHost Staff does not respond to tickets from June 2.
The VPS performance stumbles? Stays down would be the better expression. Wrote an email now to ps@… as well. Worst service ever. The last response on my ticket was “We expect everyone affected to be up and running within the next 24 hours. In addition, we’ll include a free month of service to your account.”
Great. 48 hours passed after already facing more than a week downtime. So what are they offering for free – another month of not being able to use what I paid for? Sorry…nothing to add.

During the past months I have claimed Curlhost as a very good provider. Now, I am facing the same problems like you. Null support, and networking problems.
I have a VPS with them since November.
Now, I have requested a cancel. So sad day.

Well, it was an stellar service. The past 2 months were bad… I prefer to move.
I got a friend in IRC that has waited 2 weeks for a setup from them to no avail so I guess you got in when they were still replying.
I have another that had quite a few huge outages without any reasoning.

open ticket for additional services issue, got replied around 1-2 hours. asking me for 1 month trial because that unacceptable issue. did anyone get this too?
Just want to update you. After long time tolerating this issues, I cancelled my Xen VPS… Yesterday was the last day.
As you can see here http://goo.gl/Quq9B since May there were networking issues exactly at the midnight EVERYDAY until mids of June. Their support just put my tickets in pending, but this was never solved. After some time, I never got answers anymore. Null support… But yeah, they cancelled my VPS almost exactly at the day and hour programmed, and again, no support?
After that, an outage of 8 hours. This was the last straw.
Not justifying things but sounds like a backup (or some other) script being run if it’s at midnight.

I asked to divulge real service plans i.e. intentions. I have suffered through many whole many weeks failures. Through the service’s fault. No support from Staff or Prakash also, no actions, no explanations. So I have been forced to request cancellation, that I should have got refund, back with all compensations

In May I got the compensation: a couple of extensions of Next Due Date in sum by 18 days. But in June the service ceased without bitter-truthful declaration of this, how vexing!

Unfortunately the same thing happened to me, my old VPS is still running, but the new one has not been setup after more than 1 week.
The tickets are being ignored too, it appears this company should be added to the Dead Pool and the owner should be blacklisted.
VPS down as well for several days. Support tickets unanswered. Stay away. Never really worked out for me. Not worth a penny!
VPS (I had 3 with them) went down all the time. I wasn’t really using them, just a few processes open (like RoR framework for developing). I left the machines on their own for a few days and when I came back…they were down for no reason. I never contacted support though so maybe there were a solution, but finally I cancelled the 3 of them.
Haha, at least I got my automatic payment reminder today. Of course the tickets from weeks ago have still not been answered.
