PieLayer has been around since 2010, according to Haris, but only opened its doors in 2012. We featured them before when they operated a brand named ‘NerdyVPS’. PieLayer is a subsidiary of Zaoomba LTD and uses modern hardware with an Intel Xeon E5 CPU, 128GB of RAM, and SSDs in RAID 10 for both speed and redundancy. They have services available in various locations, including Germany. Everything in Las Vegas is pure SSD . Their service offering differs per location, so be sure to take note of the location when ordered. Haris also tells me that PieLayer is going to launch a new website soon. Compared to last time they changed their special offers a bit and San Diego seems to have been replaced by Las Vegas. If you decide to give PieLayer a shot, please share your experiences in the comments or at LowEndTalk.com!

Note that the 5-day refund is solely at their discretion.

I signed up a few weeks back, put in a request for cancellation and refund in under 48 hours after a rather low utilization of the service, and was told that refunds are only given for hardware failures and that my request was denied. I pointed out that there was nothing in the TOS that mentioned hardware failures only, and quoted the relevant part of the TOS, mentioning the 5-day refund policy, in which refunds are given in good faith.

I neither heard back nor received a refund. My ticket was auto-closed a few days later.

As I explained to you we asked that you reply to ticket URL not directly to ( unmonitored ) e-mail. That is why it seemed that we didnt have any communication with you regarding your issue. Refund has been granted as that was one of the options offered to you to choose from.

I’m seeing a lot of packet loss to the Las Vegas test IP from multiple servers — is this normal performance?

    — 76.164.214.155 ping statistics —
20 packets transmitted, 7 received, 65% packet loss, time 19007ms
    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 62.293/62.457/63.103/0.377 ms

I’d lean towards LV for the SSD but not with that kind of packet loss…

I’m with them since year, I believe since Christmas 2013 here on LEB. Have VPS in Germany, works pretty well. Sometimes it’s very fast, sometimes it’s not. Uptime is average, the support – seems there’s one guy – Haris doing his best. I had no any problems with them, but always could be better, which I wish you Haris! Take care.

Buffalo servers are with ColoCrossing it seems. A fair few people seem to be against ColoCrossing though my server with them sustains a 900mbps+ connection (up/down), can’t complain about that.

As for PieLayer as a reseller, I’ve not heard of the company before and they sadly don’t provide any links for speed tests to ensure they’re not overselling bandwidth and can sustain the same kinds of speeds.

    November 23, 2014 @ 7:57 pm | Reply
    • Haris:

We utilize ColoCrossings network and IPs in Buffalo location that is correct. We do not oversell our bandwidth however there is restriction for every VPS how much constant speed it can utilize. As you are aware it is shared resources not guaranteed. This is a simple precaution to avoid one user affecting others in node.

Hi, I’ve been with PieLayer for 9 months now – from a lowendbox offer, my VPS is in the Buffalo Data centre. I used to be with lunarpages. Anyway I am very happy to recommend PieLayer, no problems with io or network contention to date. I’ve had good service (quick response to tickets – one today) and excellent uptime. Merry XMAS!

Tickets are usually answered in few hours. If you waited longer for reply it means you probably raised more tickets or bumped the ticket with replies which puts your ticket at end of the queue.

I’ve found some kind of bad review in this page, but (mostly for the low price) I’ve decided to give PieLayer a try. I’m a 3 days only customer, but I’m satisfied.
    1. The VPS profile/hardware is correct
    2. The network latency is very low
    3. At startup, tun/tap devices and iptables nat table were not available. That’s a not bad startup policy, since many users don’t need those. I’ve raised a ticket (with low urgency obviously) and I’ve got it answered and solved in less than a day.

    Marco.

If your VPS is suspended you have been for sure notified via support ticket opened in your behalf with reasons why it is suspended. Usually it is because of high load, network or mail abuse. If it is not the case I urge you to send me email directly to haris.p@pieserv.com and let me know your situation so I can review it.

I just want to clarify something here: You are bashing the company just because you are not willing to use SolusVM Client panel. In your ticket you have stated that the IP is not working and we resolved that. That mistake was on our end and I apologize but once it has been reported we resolved that ASAP. After that you have replied that your root password is not working and we suggested you to login to your SolusVM client panel and change it from there as you have that option. You ignored our suggestion and in next reply asked for change of OS. We have done that for you as a courtesy even though you have that option in your SolusVM panel and we suggested ( again ) that you can do that by yourself. We never stopped your VPS nor you ever asked for money to be refunded ( which we can not honor as you are not eligible for that as per our refund policy ).

9 months into the service and they stop responding to basic technical support tickets all together like setting up an RDNS server. They up their game when an offer is launched and then leave you hanging with no support. Disappointing. More than 48 Hours and still no reply for a simple thing.
