Signed up this plan 30 hours ago, and am still waiting for the account activation. Not good.
40 hours later and my VPS is finally provisioned. This blog is now hosted at Datarealm.
Its been eight days since I signed up, I submitted a support ticket two days ago to see if they were at least going to get around to doing it.. I’ve heard no reply.
Matthew, if I get it straight, after 8 days Datarealm is yet to provide you access to the VPS plan you paid for?
That wouldn’t be good..
Well, day three after the support ticket they finally reply, saying my credit card was flagged for fraud.. If it gets flagged for fraud, should they still charge me? I just checked my bank statement and I was charged the day I placed the order.
I understand your point, though I really must point out that in credit cards the amounts can’t be instantly charged by any company, but rather the amount being charged is put on a pending/authorization state in which the funds are reserved. This isn’t the same as being charged, though it may that a while, if the transaction isn’t followed through the end by both sides (the company and the bank) the amount will no longer be reserved and won’t be charged.
It happens all the time when you add a credit card to paypal, it appears they instantly charge you with one dollar every time you do so, but actually that amount never get’s deducted.
Just to be on the safe side, keep complaining both to your bank/credit card company and Datarealm until the situation is fully settled.
Alright, an update on the Datarealm situation.
The server was finally setup and here’s all the details. When I deal with most VPS companies, their support system usually sends you an email with a copy of the ticket whether they opened it or yourself. As it ends up, my credit card was picked up for fraud because right now I’m in Texas, however the card is from California. I did not check the support ticket at their site daily so that is of course fault on my part because -their- ticket opened the same day I paid.
Now, they didn’t reply to the support ticket until two days after I had submitted, in which they explained the reason of why they thought the card was fraud. After sending them pictures of the card and explaining why the states didn’t match, they were more than happy to complete the setup.
As far as the money is concerned, they offered a complete refund saying how the charge is one of the very first parts of the provisioning process. The one thing I really like about them, although I had paid for it over a week ago, the account actually didn’t get setup until today, so what they do is bump the pay day to the day its setup for next month.
Anyways, I thought it would be unfair for Datarealms if I didn’t share this.
To add on to before, if you setup and account with them, be sure you check the ticket system daily to see if there were any halts on the account. The system won’t email you automatically.

yeah I did. suspended because of a billing issue. funny cause I paid 3 months in advance through paypal.
24 hours later. It was a complete screwup on their end. No billing issue, my VPS is back online.
This vendor has provided OK service. Once all issues were resolved, service has been very stable except for occasional ISP issues.
At 64K for $4.95, this low-end box is not a bargain in today’s marketplace.
Provisioning was not immediate. The initial CentOS load was not properly configured and could not be upgraded. As a result, we opened a ticket. The technical support was inept (first responder) and slow. Eventually the problem was resolved and CentOS could be maintained.
The worst problem we had was when the server was reimaged while we were logged onto it and setting it up. We definitely did not initiate it. The vendor was in denial, and claimed their records showed we did it. Website records now show many aborted reimage processed (which fortunately did not actually occur).
We have seen connectivity problems which appeared to be with their ISP on occasion, ranging from periods of complete connectivity loss to periods of packet loss. On the other hand, the routing provided by Datarealm’s ISP has been a good complement for our purposes.
There have been no billing problems.
The service has been stable for several months with the exception of the connectivity issues.
We’re not sure if we want to recommend the service, but it has performed adequately since it became stable.
