James from Agent Black Web Hosting emailed me their exclusive promotion to LowEndBox readers. Normally their VPS1 plan is $12/month but with promo code LOWENDBOX it is now $6.83/month, after coupon code LOWENDBOX which gives you 43% off recurring discount. The spec of their “Standard VPS1” package:
- 192MB guaranteed/384MB burstable memory
- 5GB storage
- 300GB/month data transfer on 10Mbps
- 2 IP addresses
- OpenVZ/HyperVM
Servers are in Softlayer in Dallas. Domain was created in February 2009. Also note that the first invoice includes prorata for the current month + the amount for next month so it would be more than $6.84. They have indeed only been beta testing their VPS products since early this week (when James first emailed me!)

The original owner of LowEndBox known as LowEndAdmin or LEA for short founded LowEndBox in 2008 and created the concept of hosting applications on low resource Low End Boxes. After creating the roots of the community that we know today, LEA stepped aside and allowed others to carry the torch forward.

Just a follow up remark. While the domain was created in Feb 2009, we started off as Paintball Hosting.com and we officially opened in 2008.
Even with the discount it’s still kinda expensive for the specs you offer.
There was a part that also was not included in the article above, we are offering DOUBLE storage AND bandwidth at that price. It’s only available to low end box readers. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, I will be glad to help you find specs and prices within your needs.

I never, ever saw expensive vps for the specs they offer at lowendbox. Never! And this one isn’t exception. Imho. LEB vps “tasters” lost sense of reality long time ago :) What I see here are decent vps specs for LOW PRICE. Not as low as some crappy not worth of our time 1.5$ vpses but there’s atlest hope that this one will work as decent vps server should as there wont be hundreds “out of control” abusive vps users…

Some folks have inquired about possibly getting more memory for the low end boxes. We have decided to INCREASE the standard memory to 384mb with 512mb burst for the same low price of $6.83.

We have revamped our VPS plans to include more space, bandwidth, and memory. The LOWENDBOX coupon is still valid for these new VPS machines.
