More offers inside!
We all know ChicagoVPS, of course, whether it’s because they are famous or infamous. They have had their ups and downs over the years, but since they’ve been in business since 2010 and are still running strong they must be doing something right. Their last offer received a lot of negative feedback so it’s quite fair to say to be cautious when using ChicagoVPS until those concerns are addressed. If what was written in the comments is true, these make perfect development servers but not the ideal production systems. Host nodes have at least four hard drives in RAID10 with SSDs being used for caching, which works quite well for OpenVZ-based servers. As always, please keep the community up-to-date on your experiences with ChicagoVPS and be aware that if you require help, ticket numbers will help them help you!

Payment methods accepted are PayPal, credit cards, and Bitcoins. When you select ‘New York’ during checkout you’re putting your server in Buffalo and when you select ‘New Jersey’ it should land somewhere near Piscataway. So, if you want an East Coast location with low latency to Europe, you’re probably better off picking ‘New Jersey’. Refunds are only handed out on a case-by-case basis. For the details on this and other things, please read their Terms of Service!

I recommend chicagovps has improved greatly in recent months
I was surprised the power of their servers Intel(R) Xeon(R)
ls,
I thank you for sharing your experience, and Im glad our efforts are being recognized.
We have really stepped our game up and hope the people that had poor experience in the past will give us another shot.
Regards
Chris
This company is awful. I’ve ‘given them another shot’ several times, and each time they’ve managed to drive me away due to their awful customer service. I cannot emphasize how terrible their customer service is. Don’t risk it.
Before they attack me as being some script kiddie, I’m not. I’m a 20+ year professional system admin with thousands of linux systems under management.
Don’t risk it.
You mean 6 US locations?
It will be more attractive to me if ipv6 is available.
I would never ever even think to give another chance to this provider. You guys disappointed me multiple times already.
So… how about you start disclosing your silent acquisition of BlueVM that happened at least a few months ago?
Or are you going to keep leading people on until the brand folds, and then spam them with ChicagoVPS “deals”?
“This is the official announcement that BlueVM has been acquired by New Wave NetConnect LLC.” – it’s out in the open by now Sven.
Looks like the announcement has finally been sent out.
While I would have personally disclosed this immediately, it’s up to each business owner to decide when/how/if to release this kind of information.
Also, it has not been a “silent acquisition” as Chris mentioned (on LET) that he bought BlueVM quite some time ago. He just seems to have chosen to send out the announcement later.
>2015
>Not even a single IPv6 IP per server
Who in the hell buys that?
Who in the hell uses AWS/Google Compute??
Bought a VPS with them for testing services. Worked great, but the box did get suspended because of abuse. (I used LOIC) from my home router and attacked the main IP to test some iptable rules.
Be cautious if you’re thinking about running the vps on a production server with no tunneling or filtered ip as a script kiddy like myself (just using LOIC) can get you suspended.
Nonethless, great server but not for anything production wise imo.
That’s your problem. A VPS is not for something like that. If you need to test iptables, go install VirtualBox and test it there. You got suspended for a reason and stop complaining. Grow up kid, you are 23 already.
What does age have to do with anything? I’m 51 and am no kid. I need no hand holding. Also, what exactly are you saying a VPS is used for? I have used Chicagovps space for 3 years as a production server with no issues, until recently. I also have bought other space from them for test environments.
The last time I purchased space, it was not live and the account was shut down after two weeks for abuse. I have never had this problem with them previously. I put in a ticket and it did not get addressed for a week or so. I finally got a response after I said something here. I was told I needed to secure the space. That is ridiculous, the server was not turned on for anyone to have access to it. This tells me it got hacked through the customer login portal. The owner responds and gives some rant about new software and that he is going after abusers. I have been with them for years and never accused of abusing the system.
The culture of this company is that the consumer is wrong. This site is riddled with the owner, staff, and fanboys like you berating the consumer. Thanks for your comment. It does nothing more than to show what this company is all about.
i’ve noticed their customer support has gone to worst recently.
Hey cris,
My VPS getting down almost 1 week!! & i already sent many tickets but still i have lack respond please stay away from this hosting for a while.
do not send tickets, they will fuck it up and make it even worse. been there done that.
I don’t recommend buying the VPS, I bought their VPS, signing two months, no more than 5 days work, always the bad. And so far no fixed the problem.
Nope, never again. Ever.
^ +1
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could use those 2TB without getting your VPS suspended for high traffic?
Don’t buy this, you’re up for a disappointment.
Some benchmark for OpenVZ – Enterprise ?
What do you need? I have 9 VPS at CVPS
mainly I/O
Still no IPv6. Come on guys its 2015, IPv6 was first introduced 17 years ago. It’s older than most SummerHost owners.
THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE IP CONSOLE ACCESS, IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE MANY WHO CAN’T GET JAVA TO WORK ON THESE VPS CONSOLE SYSTEMS, YOU WILL NEVER GET CONSOLE ACCESS WITH THIS OUTFIT.
I understand that ChicagoVPS has great servers, and solid packages,
But my main problem was uptime, with a record of 81% over 2-3 years.
This isn’t the case with all of their servers, I believe my LA server had 96%.
I do however use it to act as a mirror for downloads for my other webservers, which is perfect!
Very Good chicago

Stay far far away from this company. They should rename their company to ClownVPS.

It doesn’t mean a whole lot when the IP is not shown.
Not totally honest. I ordered a VM in LA and I got one in NY. The network speed is just terrible (170Mbit / 13 Mbit). I am sticking with my other providers.
I can’t begin to describe just how bad this company is at providing support … I left them for BlueVM several years ago. They’ve now taken over BlueVM and the support that had really gone to hell just before they were acquired has reached new lows. DO NOT USE THESE people.
Just picked up the standard windows vps from them and I can’t even connect to it via RDP. Tried to ping and still nothing. I’ll give it another 24h, and then I’m going to want my money back.
Well it gets even better now. So I finally got the above problem “fixed”. The support person moved me to another node ,which fixed the RDP problem, but in the process I guess downgraded my VPS to the Starter package. I paid for the standard 1024MB RAM, 40GB HD, 2TB Bandwidth Windows 2008 64bit. What I got was 512MB RAM, 25GB HD, 500GB Bandwidth with a Windows 2008 TRIAL Version that yells at me that my Windows is not genuine and its expired etc, etc. I’ve had this VPS for less than 24 hours and it’s already a $$%^ show. If anyone from ChicagoVPS is seeing this, I want you to know how utterly horrid my experience has been with you in less than 12 hours. To top it off seeing the “your copy of windows may not be genuine” really puts the icing on the cake. I really wanted to give you guys a good review, and I still may once the kinks get worked out, but as of now this is downright idiotic. These kinds of things shouldn’t be problems.
hi,
your OpenVZ – Standard plan is showing only 512 mb ram inplace of 1024 mb as mentioned here.
can you rectify that.
I am lockedin for the present with these guys. As soon as i can i will leave them.
This is the WORST client support EVER!
I fully agree with this comment – indeed the support is the worst I have ever experienced
Had some issues connecting at first and some shoddy tech support, but I figured out changing the virtual network device from Intel Pro to the Realtek device worked.
Today I can’t ssh to my VPS. And some sites no respondig too. I can’t understand it. What can I do?
Bad support. Slow servers. Paid for an upgrade and had to wait 6 days, and STILL server was not upgraded. Very slow response time. Re-consider before you subscribe, you do get what you pay for.
They’re wrecking me too. A customer for years and they can’t/won’t fix a suddenly blocked port. Support is a slow joke. Is there anyone decent in this price range or do I have to give $20-$50/month to a DigitalOcean or RAMNode or Linode?
Do not recommend. Nothing but a bad experience with them. I had more downtime than uptime and support was virtually nonexistent. I got tired of having to rebuild my server from scratch after the third wipe and just gave up.
Was went third day, how i try repair my password with public whmcs him system…. But she is not working lol. Or mail daemon not corrected configure, i dont know
VERY BAD HOSTING!
3rd day not answered on my requests, pre warning about this mini review and other
*They more additional verification for pass restore and yes i remember secret questions and correctly answering to him
SIMPLY AWFUL EXPERIENCE! If their hardware fails and your server is down, it is you problem according to these guys.

Are you died there? or i need to open paypal dispute? where s server? Two days delay
The Windows VPS are very poor, and support too..
I Dont Recomend use ChicagoVPS
I strongly advise looking for alternatives. We have just lost a VPS server hosted by them (they said both the server and the backup were lost) on which we invested a lot and that’s not acceptable.
and please do yourself a favor and remove the ads for this VPS unprovider on your site.
ya voy utilizando 2 años este proveedor
very nice VPS
Recomiendo este VPS a los de habla hispana
el código de descuento del 30% que me ha funcionado es “LaborDay30”

Recomiendo chicagpvps para laboratorio
experimentación de software
Used to host my site w/ them. Had to transfer it though due to my VPS going down for a couple of times, some for hours, some for days.
Would not recommend. My VPSs worked well for years but they had a lot of downtime lately, and the responses to support tickets are very disappointing. I am in the process of moving them to another provider.
Any chance ChicagoVPS is worth trying now? I see they’ve been acquired by ColoCrossing, hopefully this will improve their customer service and server quality.
I don’t think so. My VPS is now suffering from intermittent connectivity, being isolated from the Internet for several minutes at a time – I reported it several times, and each time they tell me they found an abuser, but a few hours later the problem reappears.

Been using ChicagoVPS for over 3 years now and love the service and the performance of my servers. Thanks!
Terrible customer service. I’ve been going around with them in circles for the last day. Had a VPS at BlueVM. Now appears they are owned by ChicagoVPS. When the BlueVM VPS died they never responded to any of my questions and just kept replying with
“I apologize for this it appears there is an issue with feathur. If there is no important data on your VPS may I go ahead and recreate you a VM at our parent Company ChicagoVPS? Thank you. Roger K. Technical Support, BlueVM. ”
After many attempts to get my existing VPS fixed, I finally gave into this “transfer” offer.
They assured me the price would remain the same (a previous lowendbox offer).
The responses from the ChicagoVPS are the same as BlueVM.
“Hello, Please create a account at CVPS and sent the ticket from client area for further assistance. Greg A.
Technical Support,ChicagoVPS.”
In order to create an account, they require you to order a product. In order to order a product they require payment.
Neither the BlueVM nor Chicago support have listened to this fact and just keep repeating the same “create and account and sent the ticket…”. Feel like I’ve been dealing with a couple of robots.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY – when all is well no issues – when an issue – no help.
Ignore my previous comment. Excellent service.
After getting around the initial bumps in the road, they did an excellent job moving my VPS from BlueVM.
Honored my lowendbox BlueVM discounted price $30/yr on a product they normally charge $70/yr.
Does anyone know what their Terms of Service are? Or At least what their Acceptable Use Policy is? Because everytime “I” click the link I cannot see what the TOS is.
Both BlueVM and ChicagoVPS are unusable. I lost money on them twice. They limit disk I/O to 1-2 MB/s. That’s not a typo. A lot of things time out. Its nothing but hell with ChicagoVPS, BlueVM and various other brands they operate.
