One of these three great annual deals features unlimited bandwidth (that’s a whopping 333TB of bandwidth!), but I have to say the other don’t pack too little either. Real LowEndBoxes for amazing prices kick off the LowEndBox Christmas season. Enjoy and share your experiences in the comments!

They may not have intended it -but you can purchase them at monthly or annual at the same price (IE $1/mo or $12/year) – cant imagine that’s terribly profitable after paypal fees ;)

    • I am doing monthly limited time :) it’s actually not to horrible with micro payments.

  5. Just curious, is 96MB package seriously unmetered? In the order page it also shows 333TB :P

    December 24, 2013 @ 1:19 pm | Reply
    • If you can use 333TB and it not be considered node abuse you can have at it :)

      Yes, solusVM shows that too:p

      • Only because there isn’t a unmetered option. :) Let me know when you reach 332TB ;)

Out of curiosity, what are people actually using 96MB of RAM for? What OS are you running that still gives you any free RAM?

    • Ryan Arp:

Most of the minimal OpenVZ templates will give you plenty of free ram left over.nYou can run a basic website, VPN, as well as many other usages that you can find here. http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/78/what-can-i-do-with-96mb-ram. Most people just don’t know how to reduce ram usage. You can even run a good bit of things on 32MB RAM. http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/1956/what-do-you-do-with-a-32mb-vps

This could be more optimal, but I am running my VPN on one of these boxes. 43MB Used, I could optimize this much more, but I was lazy.

      >Out of curiosity, what are people actually using 96MB of RAM for? What OS are you running that still gives you any free RAM?

one of my low end boxes (Debian Squeeze minimal OpenVZ): 71MB used and running Nginx, PHP5-FPM, OpenVPN Access Server, Fail2Ban, Webmin, Exim, CSF firewall, and a few monitoring tools (logwatch, rkhunter, chkrootkit, etc). If I took the time to optimize it the RAM usage would be lower.

      >Most people just don’t know how to reduce ram usage.

They can always “cheat” and use Minstall to setup their VPS which will remove all of the bloat https://github.com/KnightSwarm/Minstall .

Great offers! I was about ready to try the unmetered option, but I see it is only a few GB of Hard Drive space. Are there any plans for a low ram box with around 100GB of HDD space? That would be great for backup and storage! :D

    • Unfortunately we do not have any plans like this, however keep checking. You never know what we will come up with.

  20. Just wondering – I can surely push well over 50TB/month on a regular basis with a legal streaming service and i *think* that the streaming daemon will run just fine with up to 1200 connections @ 128 kbps each. I/O load will be close to 0, and CPU load … well … the current production system is an old P3 that serves well over 2000 listeners simultaneously at any given moment.

Will this be considered “abusive” usage for the Mini OpenVZ plan?

    December 26, 2013 @ 7:11 pm | Reply
    • I would have to say yes, as this is a shared 1Gbps port. So pushing that much PPS would be abuse on a shared port.

      December 26, 2013 @ 10:04 pm | Reply
      • jarland:

But only IF it’s abusive levels of PPS, some streaming protocols don’t push high PPS, some do. Don’t mind me, just trolling my former company’s comments :P

        December 26, 2013 @ 10:18 pm | Reply
        • This ^, I guess I should have specified that :)

          December 26, 2013 @ 10:27 pm | Reply
          • It’s a SHOUTCast-like streaming service of national-wide FM radiostations. Only 1 of these can easily reach over 1000 listeners. The traffic generated out of those is not with high PPS as it’s not a low-delay streaming service.

Should be fine then, if there is ever a problem we give plenty of time to figure out a alternative solution.

    • Hola, Sorry we have been out of stock and have kept forgetting to check this. I don’t see a problem with this as long as you use a light weight and non-bloated codec.
