I would LOVE to buy one of these servers, but their AUP greatly limits what most people would use this much RAM for.

    • Well, we only limit Minecraft on these plans really. We allow it on bigger plans. Other than that, you can use it for everything legal and that does not hurt your neighbours!

If you allow it on bigger plans, does that mean the 6GB one? I run a tiny Minecraft server for like 5 friends, and I was looking for a server with more RAM so we can play around with plugins and such.

If that is allowed, I will buy one of these deals in an instant.

        December 25, 2013 @ 10:11 pm | Reply
        • It’s allowed on 18GB and bigger plans. However, if you create a ramdisk and put all your world and plugins there, we can allow you if it doesn’t use lots of CPU.

Well then, consider me a customer. My current host is legitimately screwing me right now. I’ve had my newest VPS for not even a week yet, and they’re accusing me of a DDoS for some odd reason. I should have researched them a bit more before even giving them a cent.

Please note that that unlimited bandwidth on 1GB ram plan is a typo! :) It has 1TB Bandwidth.

So the option to pay 10usd for the 6GB ram for Dalas servers doesn’t makes sense?

      December 25, 2013 @ 8:16 pm | Reply
      • Yeah, you can just purchase without it and it’ll be provisioned on a SSD cached node.

Hi, I noticed that the TOS forbids use of the VPS for digital currency mining, which is a good thing. Does this extend to non-mining uses of currency? E.g stores, block explorers, wiki sites, etc. I’ve been looking for a place to for projects to benefit the community.

Specifically do you auto-ban accounts based on process names (e.g. if you see “bitcoind” appear, irrespective of whether or not it actually consumes CPU power).

      December 25, 2013 @ 9:51 pm | Reply
      • Sure, you can do everything with the digital currencies except mining.

Hi plans say OpenVZ/Custom… I need FreeBSD but it don’t work with OpenVZ, so does ‘custom’ here means that we can get KVM instead at same price and can install FreeBSD? I am intrested in 2GB RAM $48/year plan.

    December 26, 2013 @ 12:45 am | Reply
    • Custom means we are using a WHMCS module that connects to SolusVM. So you can do everything you want to do on the billing panel itself. The virtualization is OpenVZ.

If i buy a 2gb plan now, can i later upgrade to the 6gb option (possibly in couple of months, with sort of matching deal/price to this 6gb offer?). My current needs do not require a 6gb plan, but i suspect within few months i might.

I have been using one of the 6GB offers in VPSDime for 3 months by now and it’s running just great. Had one of his 2Gb Cloudive KVM package in past and that was also cool. Really likes this man and his efforts.

      December 28, 2013 @ 3:54 am | Reply
      • The CPU frequency will get limited for a while if the usage goes above a threshold, then returns back to normal.

        December 28, 2013 @ 11:32 am | Reply
        • bbbbb:

How is the threshold? I got the same situation, I run some benchmark but also got very low CPU performance with limited frequency.
The support staff told me the same word: it returns back to normal while daily usage.

But how can I to know this limitation would not destroy the performance while daily usage?
At least, I need to know how to measure this threshold and I can evaluate what kind of applications fit for this.

          • It’s a auto throttling mechanism. If you use more than a core (2500MHz) for more than 30 mins, you get throttled to 1500MHz, then after an hour back to regular speed. When you have 2 cores, each core gets 750MHz as a result. It’s just a way to prevent abuse and high loads on the nodes. Nothing to worry about.

I had an issue with a particular application I wanted to run and VPSDime found the problem and fixed it quickly and pleasantly. Worth noting that I had googled to try to find a fix to no effect but VPSDime was able to find the answer that I could not. I’m very happy with the performance of the VPS and have not experienced a moment of down time yet.

    • Tyler:

I wouldn’t personally recommend this host. I bought a 18GB ram server and have had nothing but problems. The server is constantly restarting because of “high load” although the load average is only around 1. They also would limit the CPU to 42mhz making it completely unusable.

      January 25, 2014 @ 11:12 pm | Reply
      • If it’s not over the load of 2 for 2 hours or load of 4 for more than 1 hour, your VPS can’t get restarted. Those are the rules we apply. It’s very well written on the TOS as well.

    • It’s not about RAM. It’s about the trouble you do while running your minecraft server. We only tolerate that for the bigger plans which have more flexibility. We not a minecraft host. Lots of professionals use our service without an issue.

      • I host Minecraft PE servers which is the mobile version of Minecraft. This version doesn’t use up nearly as much resources while hosting and I’d really like to host with you guys. My current host is screwing me over and you guys seem like a really excellent host.

Nobody has ever sent a denial of service attack to my servers before, and they’ve been online for almost two years. I wouldn’t be causing any extra strain on the network or causing any trouble.
