DedifyStack is based on Apache CloudStack and XenServer, similar to what we’ve seen with iwStack (which is either KVM or Xen, depending on which zone you select). These offers are available in Germany and are located with Hetzner in Nuremberg, where fileMedia’s hardware is colocated (no limited Hetzner dedi’s here). fileMedia has a ‘trade certificate’ in Germany, which I think is some form of company registration. They do charge VAT, so I’m pretty sure it is. There’s plenty of options available with DedifyStack, you can get Xen PV, HVM, or PVHVM, all depending on which template/iso you use. Additional optional features are a full private cloud with load balancer, isolated networks, firewall, vpc, template and iso management, and more. Needless to say, this is a very flexible option. The downside? The €30 initial deposit that’s required to create an account. This fee was set to battle abuse and I can’t blame them. It’s a good thing, though, that you can use all these credits plus €3 more (of course, when you deposit more, you get more free credits). If you give DedifyStack a try or are already a customer, please let us know how it went!

You can use PayPal or Stripe to add credit to your DedifyStack accounts. As far as I know, no refunds are given. For all the details, please read their Terms of Service before ordering.

No, it isn’t. It’s marketplace template with idea and content copied from iwstack.

So, uh, any provider who uses CloudStack is copying iwstack?

        January 1, 2015 @ 11:00 am | Reply
        • Alex:

No, I have exactly said about “copied content” and didn’t say anything about software.

We using XenServer before iwstack and using different storage models. Billing model is the same as everyone, only the startup credits are the same because that is the perfect range between more or less credits.

  2. I already was like: omg, something I always looked for: kvm or Xen, SSD, located in Germany and not by Vultr (I just don’t like their transparency). But 30€ setup.. Sorry, I’m not going to be a customer. Not because I’m an abuser, just because that’s too much if you can’t even test before paying.

    • But now I also noticed the cpu frequency.. What? You serious?
I don’t wanna advertise, but at RaNo (most of you will know what I mean) you get 2 vCores @ 3,3Ghz Xeon E3, 512MB, 15GB raid 10 SSD, 2TB @ 1GBit shared and KVM in US and NL for 7$ (and their network, at least in NL is really great to “hole” Europe (sure I don’t have servers in every country which is in Europe, but I do got some)). And an awesome uptime and support (can’t say anything about dedify but it’s nearly not possible to be better in that than RN, especially in that pricing range).

      • Maarten Kossen:

I dare to say this is an entirely different product from what you get an RaNo, so it’s an unfair comparison. I wouldn’t know how the CPU performs, I’ve yet to find that out, but I’m sure you won’t hit too many speed bumps there. After all, I believe you can use this CPU where at the provider you’ve mentioned you really can’t used those two cores (just a peak times).

        January 1, 2015 @ 7:27 am | Reply
      • Johannes Ernst:

You will get dedicated resources even for CPU too. That means, if you buy 500 MHz you will get 500 MHz and this can be used at any time as long as you wish.

2GB/h limit is total shit, works out to <1.5TB/month, but in actuality traffic isn't evenly distributed like that.

I personally feel this is quite a good offer for a European-based cloud solution that’s actually got fail-over and plenty of other high-end features.

      • Alex:

Maarten, this is a really bad offer. Johannes is not the person to whom you can trust leb readers. BlueVM or CHVPS are much better than this dutch fraud.

It seems we have a difference of opinion here, Alex :-)

          Besides, he’s German, not Dutch.

Normal cloud offer as everyone with hourly billing. All billing bandwidth and free bandwidth hourly. 2GB are around 1440GB per month.

I cannot really say much about this actual offer, but I myself have several regular KVM VPS with FileMedia since a few years and I am very satisfied. Their support is great as well as their equipment and the datacenters they choose. It’s definitely one of my favourite provides for cheap VPS hosting in Europe/Germany. Though I myself must admit that I am personally a bit more oldschool and favor the good old KVM servers over those CloudStack offers. I agree with Maarten that they really try to provide you with some nice professional features which you normally do not have with most LEB offers. Maybe we can expect some KVM offers again from FileMedia in the future.

  15. Do you have offer to pay as I go (hourly payment)? That would be nice for me to test your service

    January 2, 2015 @ 3:03 am | Reply
    • Johannes Ernst:

All new offers are billed hourly. You get an invoice for all used resources every month. But you can see your used resources in the billing list which will be updated every hour.

There have been regular problems since last year. First always network outages, but also random reboots and most recently storage outages or super low IO (<5MB/s HDD access).
I've opened a few tickets about this issue, but when the tickets get closed the real issues are not revealed. I feel like they don't like to take the blame.
The last weeks have been completely insane and their excuse why the HDD doesn't work is again "ddos". Here you have other people with the same problem, too: http://i.imgur.com/ga6tmZK.png

I don't recommend them at all. After they started with all the "cloud" and dedify stuff it went downhill pretty fast. Then they even got bought by an other company and now nothing works any more.

Now I'm searching for a way to move all my stuff away. Sadly I even payed anually.
