LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

eNS Cloud - $6.95 400MB VMWare (Chicago/San Jose) Exclusive Offer

Updated December 2011 — Both eNetSouth.com and eNSCloud.com stopped resolving since 11 November 2011. It has been confirmed that Brandon has done a runner.

eNetSouth Cloud For those of us who prefer more dedicated-server like VPS (rather than glorified jail, ala OpenVZ), this latest exclusive offer from eNetSouth Cloud might interest you. The last offer from eNS Cloud in San Jose was good — except their earlier offer for Chicago was even better! Co-lo in San Jose is more expensive after all, and they did have a much beefier server in Chicago. However Brandon decided to amended the offer, and now you can use this sign up link to get the same VMWare offer for both Chicago and San Jose! So for $6.95/month you get

  • 400MB memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 10Mbps unmetered bandwidth
  • VMWare/vSphere

You can pretty much install any OS you want on your VMWare box (Windoze, Linux, xBSD, etc). See previous threads on discussions on this company.

I’ve been with eNetSouth since the San Jose offer. 100% uptime, performance is absolutely superb and no downtime. Very happy. :)

This would be a lot better offer with limited 100mbps port instead of 10 mbps which only comes down to 1MB/s, basically share 1 file = slow down your website.

Perhaps you can ask Brandon to change you to the 1500GB plan?
Assuming it is the same as Chicago offer, the downstream is 100Mbps while the upstream is 10Mbps.

Though the Chicago vcenter have been down for at least 2 days.

  7. Hey Im interested in it. Just need opinions and suggestions from others before buying. Do you all think this a kind of a legitimate offer for the quoted price? Coz for a newbie like me most of the things in Low End Box looks legitimate. :)

Since there are many Pros of VPS hosting, I would like to make my decision based on your help. Thanks in Advance.

Ofcourse, most of the companies are legit. LEB admin also point out a few things about the company and it information when he posted. Also depend on what you want to do with it.
For ENSCLOUD, it is pretty good. I have an account with enscloud. I use it and happy with it. It is pretty stable.

  10. I got the VPS details today. ( as stated in the tos, server provisioning may took 24 hours)
Ordered one Windows 2008 last night. I want to learn to use Windows, because my all VPS were Linux / Debian based.

With 400Mb RAM, the RDP is running smoothly.

As for the ENS whois, I already make a comment about their website since the first offer in the LEB, and then they make some renewal for another year.

Hope they will be a VPS Provider for a long time. :)

  15. Those of you reloaded your own OS… how do you do it? I never got really clear-cut directions from eNS Cloud.

    October 15, 2010 @ 4:17 pm | Reply
    • Arthur:

      To reload your own OS:

      1. Download the vSphere client (take the /ui off the vcenter url)
      2. Install client and login with your vcenter credential.
      3. Go to your VM, then Edit Setting -> Option Tab -> Advanced and tick the option to boot to BIOS on next boot. Change the boot order to CDROM first.
      4. Go to VCenter -> Summary Tab -> Open Console
      5. On the Console Toolbar, Mount CD/DVD, mount the ISO of your choice.
      6. If installing Windows XP/2003, Download the LSI driver at http://www.lsi.com/storage_home/products_home/standard_product_ics/sas_ics/lsisas1068/index.html
      7. Make a floppy image with whatever tool you have, with the driver in it
      8. Mount Floppy, like step 5
      9. Reboot your guest system and boot from CDROM
      10. Install OS as if it is your machine.
      11. If Windows, install VMWare Tools
      12. Install all updates, and do a full shutdown of your guest and then boot

Also, I wonder if anyone else have speed problem? I do a speedtest on the Win 2003 box and I only get <1.5Mbps up / down

Single thread upload from my San Jose VPS seems top around 150KB/s. Not sure if it is because Win 2003 is not optimized or the network is like that.

I agree. New locations are very nice, but I would suggest that at this moment in time enscloud should be concentrating on getting the support system and control panel (not only vCentre but also the account management panel) working better. The servers and network have been great so far, but I think the non-working/incomplete control panels is a bit disconcerting for users, and improving them would greatly increase confidence in using enscloud. I know it would for me :)

You or no one else want another excuse .. therefore I am working on it right now. I’ve got egg on my face and I appreciate you being patient.

P.S. The more locations you do the more VPS I’ll get from you :) OpenVZ just can’t beat VMWare in uptime.

San Jose is ready and perfect. I had a rough time getting vCenter back after I attempted to link them together to one database instead of two separate DB’s. I am almost finished with getting it back where it needs to be in Chicago.

I’m glad other than my epic fail with vCenter in Chicago you are happy. By the way.. I hear London is next. :)

I went ahead and refunded your PayPal payment. I did this because for whatever reason the signup failed with you. I did not know anything except which DC you wanted. And that was from eMail. Of course I want your business and want to give you a kick ass server but a few steps need to happen so that we know what you want. Sign up again and get the confirmation and we will knock it out ASAP.

Otherwise, I do not know how to serve you properly.

  29. I wanted to give everyone a update. We provisioned a lot of servers today/tonight and got everyone running. There are a few more that will be provisioned overnight and through the day tomorrow. It’s not easy handling new and existing customer support while getting a double digit number of new servers online.

However we can handle it and everyone should be happy and where they need to be. I appreciate everyone being so patient and doing business with us.

If you have any issues at all please email me: brandonc@enetsouth.com or open a support ticket.

It’s not that we can’t handle the amount of requests coming in. Wait, let me rephrase that. We can handle honest signups not several hundred using stolen credit cards and hacked PayPal. That has been the delay of it all is weeding out who is real and who is not. So that is what happened. We have been provisioning servers the entire time but we had a few slip through the cracks. I will make sure you have your server quickly this evening.

I could really use a couple of you out there to let eveyone know we have been getting servers out just a little slow. We are not being shady or trying to do bad business. I’m just really sick of dishonest people. :(

  34. I don’t want to go in a lot of detail in public but just hitting the high notes this happened before back in April. We use a service that was linked without merchant account since that time and it caught a lot but I can only assume these were recent “steals” before they could get flagged. We are making a lot of changes over the next few days to prevent this from ever being a issue.

Thanks for being understanding and I’m sorry we let you slip through the cracks. I do admit that is what happened. It was a honest but unfortunate mistake.

However, I am not accepting anymore Windows VPS’s at this price. This was clearly stated as Linux only and a lot of customers still chose Windows anyways so I did the honorable thing and provided service. After the week we have had I’m not going to sit here and get our name drug through the mud on near loss once you factor in the overhead of Windows.

  49. Just contacted Brandon today. He is very friendly and helpful so now I am looking forward to this VMware based VPS solution. As I understood what he said, this VPS is not like shared VPS running on a single server where any failure brings everything down. The VMWare system runs by keeping the virtual vps instances on a storage area network with a cloud/pool of servers to access and run them. This means if a server failed, another would instantly pick up the instance and keep going without my need to do anything or even notice the issue. Another benefit is getting full capacity of the resources I ordered so that I have it all up front without any need to hope more will kick in if I need it later. Giving exactly what is promised, and setting it up at the outset means they are not going to oversell or underperform.

I plan to report back on how things are going after a couple weeks — and I will keep posted here to keep updated on what others say. The LEB site and user comments really helped me choose this solution. Thank you!

You may not know this but vCenter runs on Windows and your username on the panel had a @ symbol in it. Windows does not allow @ in the username. So when the script tried to add your username to vCenter it failed. I need disallow a few other characters as well. (add’s to to-do list)

So to fix this I removed everything after the @ and it works OK. I am sending you a followup email about this as well.

    Regards,
    Brandon

My 1st request for rDNS was in ticket 1407,october 30 (with freebsd iso request). Thanks for the .iso :) . But no reply about rDNS.
My 2nd request for RDNS was in ticket 1421, november 05. Got reply : “The request has been submitted to be changed.” in november 06.
The only clear response about rDNS was in your reply on this blog :”We have to have rDNS handled by the namespace owner at the DC. As soon as they complete it you will have it.”

Kind of a low blow to make something appear you have been ignored since the 5th even though WE REPLIED TO YOU.

    Geez.

If you can’t accept my attitude, i feel so sorry, you can terminate my VPS anytime :).

FYI, i have similar issue with other provider, they get so much rude complain in WHT. They replied politely. And sent mass email to their customers, said sorry for the slow response/support

Who implied attitude friend? I felt the comment was a bit misrepresented considering we answered the request and we are waiting for it as well. Then come over the top with the “I hope nothing serious is wrong” .. just a poor way of wording IMHO. If you see it differently then I respect your oppinion. However, you have my email .. we have talked a lot. If you have a concern you or anyone else are more than welcome to talk.

Be careful, their vps’s disk IO is very very SLOW!!!
    # dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fsync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 369.066 seconds, 2.9 MB/s

By the way, I send a ticket 2 weeks ago,
Still don’t get any replay until now.
I wanna say, keep away from this vps provider.

  55. We maintain a test server in each DC so that we can do real life tests. Inside those we run several monitoring applications.. Some are custom and some are everyday things like Nagios. The two main items I monitor is availability, latency and storage. From time to time Chicago’s I/O does get loaded. Since your post I have been running the same dd you posted every 15min and the slowest I have seen is:

    root@nag-chicago:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=test2 bs=64k count=16k
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 41.1921 s, 26.1 MB/s

The next time it will follow up with anywhere from 60MB to 100MB and back down to the high 20’s and 30’s. I do not doubt you saw 2.9MB/s but I can’t make this instance perform that poorly. I’m curious if you had something else running at the same time. Regardless I will be happy to assist you to find the cause.

Also about a two week ticket — How about emailing me brandonc@enetsouth.com and let me know the details so we can find the root cause of the delay.

    • There are not any setups outstanding that we are *not* aware of. Only one customer that signed up around 1:00AM localtime. eMail support with your information and we can look in to it. If it has been a couple of days maybe it was a fraud check mistake? I don’t know.

Contact support and we can help you.
