Updated July 2011 — Looks like domain has expired back in June, and I wonder whether there was any service for the first half of the year. Anyway, another failed provider.
Erick from G&Z Host sent me their latest low end exclusive offer to LowEndBox readers. Yes it is another sub-$3 VPS. For $2.95/month with this ordering link here (warning: self-signed SSL certificate). You get
- 64MB memory
- 5GB storage
- 50GB/month data transfer
- Xen/SolusVM
Dallas data center. Also read my previous blog post about this company.

That’s not self-signed lol. That’s signed by StartSSL Class 1 (NOTE: FREE SSL Certs). Most browsers accept the CA but some old browsers (ie. IE w/o CA ROOT Cert Upgrade in Windows Upgrade) and Opera do not accept that as CA.
Anyway, their server gnzhost.com is using DA as control panel, which has “Damn::VPS” on its license.
@KLIKLI
Unless I’m blind… it is “self-signed” SSL. Did you look at the SSL cert details? I checked with Chrome and IE… it’s “localhost”.
@terii
Don’t say in that way :D
Weird – I got the StartSSL FreeSSL

PS: Tested with opera as well and still StartSSL C1 SSL Cert.
Yep, Iceweasel says it’s a StartSSL Class 1 cert, issued in July. And hey look, five nameservers, yay G&Z.
Nice to see more Xen servers, than the typical OpenVZ that every other host offers.

This is the cert I get using chrome:

Tested with Firefox and shows as StartSSL: http://i38.tinypic.com/2v34snr.png
Could DNS be pointing at a different servers with different certs? IP is 66.154.118.155 here.
Same ip Insdel.
I am actually getting it signed to localhost when I made the post. Maybe the certificate has changed?
Well. Either way, it means that G&Z didn’t feel like forking over the money for a *real* certificate (though with how lenient the certification checks are with most SSL providers, a standard paid certificate is only nominally better IMO than a free/self-signed one).
Hello, i can see many complaints about SSL cert.
First of all we’re using StartSSL Class 1 as some people have seen it.
Second, some browser had problems to authenticate our cert. but that is now corrected, please accept our apologize.
We are going to implement a new certificate as soon as possible for us.
I order one,but reboot this vps,can’t boot now,
Ordered and waiting for activation :)
I think I might grab one of these too. Loving my OpenVZ VPS, wouldn’t mind comparing to XEN!
Nice offers – I get a premium certificate!
Anyone still have their Xen VPS online? GnZ’s website has been offline since November 7…
