When I did some search on the net today, found that an old provider that I’ve covered last year, InternetVPS, has updated their budget “Baby A” VPS plan. It now has:
- 128MB memory
- 3GB storage
- 100GB/month data transfer
Basically double the memory and monthly transfer amount from over a year ago. The cost remains the same — $4.99/month… Until I hit Checkout to work out exactly how much it costs. At the end, the minimum you need to pay is $75.47!
- 12 month prepayment required, so $4.99 x 12 = $59.88.
- $12 “VPS Server License” whatever that is, but something you have to pay.
- 5% PayPal Service Fee that is even more expensive than from PayPal themselves. Again, something that is not optional
At the end it comes down to $75.47 for 12 months, or around $6.29/month. Still not bad. But as I do not live in the land of US of A, maybe it is just me whom is not used to seeing one price and paying another.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.

I get bad vibes about this place too, I’d pass.
Actually I’ve received a very quick setup and the server runs fine. Maybe someone had bad experiences. But I am quite happy with them. They have anytime money back guaranteed policy so you have nothing to loose. 1/10 people may have bad mouth.
He actually has a non-refundable policy. It is stated quite clearly in the company’s terms of service. You should read them if you are under the impression you have any chance of getting your money back.
If that doesn’t convince you, there are numerous screen prints on internetvps.org where he categorically states on numerous occasions a non-refund policy.
Furthermore, there is more than one person complaining about his business practices.
