  1. Just a note to let you know that last week we became LIR (RIPE NCC member), so we got a /32 IPv6 (had to return back the /48) and deployed IPv6 on our node, so if you need some IPv6 addresses just open a ticket (they aren’t yet assigned by default)

  2. The first comment, I’m now hosting my blog with IperWeb VZ5 which also running a special 50% recurring several days ago.

Network speed is fast, and most important is the Support, fast and friendly. Thanks to Mr. Salvatore which helps me for my Tickets.

Here is some simple review, but I’m not doing any Benchmark yet, because I don’t know how :D

    • I’ve followed the tutorial for creating PPTPD from here, but it can’t connect / PPTP connection terminated.
While my another PPTPD from SecureDragon and BuyVM with the same OS and same script/setup work’s fine.
Did someone have any idea? :)

what is vswap? i only often read about burst memory.

    April 18, 2012 @ 11:47 pm | Reply
    • Yomero:

vswap is about the new scheme of memory usage counters in openvz. As you may have noticed, OpenVZ doesn’t have swap, and the processes use a lot more of memory than in other virtualization types or real computers. This new scheme is near to the real memory counting.

      April 19, 2012 @ 12:02 am | Reply
    • Yomero:

So, in other words, you will get a “normal” swap space

      • jcaleb:

thanks Yomero. The memory usage in OpenVZ confused me when I was testing. Using the exact same setup (leb script to setup wordpress box), my XEN vps only consumes 40MB, while my OpenVZ consumes 85mb.

I’ll try to sign up and check how it differs first hand. Question by the way. When my plan says 128mb/256mb burst. The one I need to check is the one reported by “free -m” right? not the “committed” part in vzfree? thanks

        April 19, 2012 @ 12:48 am | Reply
        • Yomero:

Yes, look at free -m, top and other common tools.
The vzfree is for another usage (know if the node is being overcommited, or to know the real usage from your ‘guaranteed’ memory).

They are more or less new here however under prometeus.net name in hosting business longer than most host featured at LEB. They are Local Internet Registry (LIR) and member of the RIPE NCC so there are very big chances that they won’t dissapear over night as some other hosts do.
So far they didn’t do anything wrong to fill those pages with negative reviews and we’re getting pretty much quality service from them.

I have a 512MB VPS (VZ5 plan) with them for a month or so, it’s working surprisingly well.
I recommend them anytime, especially if your visitors are EU central/EU east.

    Off topic;
I love this new type of OpenVZ with vswap instead of burst…I don’t know about you guys but it’s working way better than anything else I tried. For small VPS plans like 256/512 MB with burst it’s a nightmare to keep the memory usage inside the allocated zone…With burst my website was always in “burst” mode :). Now with this vswap the memory usage is steady. I have exactly the same setup and the same number of hits and the memory usage indicator barely moves up a few MBs in peak load time.

Bought the VZ1 Plan yesterday evening, but got flagged by Maxmind because I’m behind a VPN. Opened a ticket, got a response within 5 minutes and was able to make my payment.
VPS was provisioned almost instantly after payment.
Network speeds are awesome. Doing a wget on cachefly I get around 38MB/s !! So I assume their nodes are on 1Gbit connections :)
Also, Ubuntu 12.04 as OS Template is very nice too :)

The three times we’ve communicated over support tickets they were understanding, polite and fast at handling the issues. The speeds (disk and network) I get are consistent and fast. As long as their service stays at this level of quality they have a customer for life.
