LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

Is BuyShared Right For You? Probably, Unless...

BuyVM is a legend in the hosting industry, particularly in the lowend community.

They were a low price leader early, always pushing the edge of what was possible.  But the service was always more than just “slap Solus on some nodes and post a thread”.  Over time, they’ve added a lot of features, including KVM slices, block storage (“slabs”), anycast, offloaded SQL, and more, including their own in-house developed VPS control panel (Stallion).

A few years ago they opened up shared hosting under the BuyShared brand.  It was offered for a while, then they stopped taking new applications, and now it’s available again (existing customers have had continuous service throughout).

Here’s a current deal:

  • 1GB space
  • Unmetered bandwidth
  • 5 addon domains
  • Unlimited domains and databases
  • Mailchannels for email
  • Free Blesta license
  • cPanel license
  • Includes Immunify and JetBackup
  • $8/YEAR in Las Vegas (US) or Luxembourg (EU)

Even their top package, which is the above only with 20GB of space and 50 addon domains, is only $18/YEAR.  Go here to see their offerings.  They do reseller, too.

Those would be cheap if it was DirectAdmin – but cPanel?  Killer.

But is it right for you?  If you want cheap prices, cPanel, and a host with a great reputation, then the answer is probably yes.

Why might not it be right for you?  I can think of two reasons:

  • Geography: Although shared hosting is less latency-sensitive, if you don’t want to be in Vegas or the ‘bourg, then obviously no.
  • You need DDoS protection.  As BuyVM owner @Fran recently commented on LowEndTalk: “I don’t feel like tanking large HTTP floods from users paying $10/year or whatever. Layer 4 mitigation will be applied as needed but if you need more than that you should buy a vps.”

Otherwise, it’s a pretty solid deal for some pretty solid hosting.

  1. I cannot speak to the shared hosting service, but I have dealt with this company and can speak to their quality, professionalism, integrity, and devotion to customer service.

Really great people. Been around a long time. They really know how to separate the signal from the noise and make for a hassle free experience. The services work as they ought to, you ask a question, you get a straight answer. Sounds simple enough, but when especially bargain hunting one often forfeits such straightforward professionalism.

    Not with this outfit.

What’s the cliche? “Speed, quality, price, pick two”

BS. Just go with BuyVM you get the whole thing.

    Thanks Raindog.

We’ll have 2 additional locations (NY + one more) coming up. We expect to get 1 – 2 more next year as well.

All shared & resellers are upgrading to Ryzen 7900’s. As we speak I’m sitting in the DC installing the new nodes. Mateus linked me this post, so I figured I’d comment.

    Thanks,

    Francisco
