LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

LetBox - $13/Quarter 2048MB OpenVZ VPS in Dallas, Texas

Mohamed, from LetBox, is back with another exclusive offer for LowEndBox readers.

OpenVZ – 2048MB

  • 2048MB RAM
  • 2048MB Burst RAM
  • 50GB RAID 10 DiskSpace
  • 4 CPU Cores
  • 4000GB Bandwidth
  • 100Mbps Port Speed
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • OpenVZ/vPanel
  • $40/Yearly – Coupon: 40Y
  • $13/Quarter – Coupon: L50
  • Order Link – Dallas

Since we last featured LetBox in November, they’ve gone through a bit of transformation which was probably guided by some of the comments left on their previous offer. Unfortunately, the Smurf has gone after much criticism and a young lady has taken the Smurf’s place. Quarterly, the plan works out at $4.33 a month and if paid annually, it works out at $3.33 which is pretty unbeatable – let’s hope they can keep it up!

All Virtual servers use their homemade control panel ‘vPanel’ which allows you to reboot, reinstall, start, stop, monitor, get alerts and more; you can read more about it, and see some photos of it, here. Their servers are equipped with E5 Jaketown E5 Hex-Core processors or Quad Core E3 CPU’s, with 32 GB or 64 GB ECC Memory, along with Cheetah 15.7 SAS 6Gb/s HDD’s in Raid 10.

They accept payments via 2checkout (which accepts Paypal) and Payza. They don’t offer refunds but if your vps suffers with downtime, you may be able to claim service credit depending on where it falls on their SLA. If you exceed your bandwidth allocation, your speed will be dropped to unmetered 10Mbps. LetBox allow IRC, VPN/private Proxies and Adult but they don’t allow Tor. For a more detailed list of what is and isn’t allowed, and for other terms regarding this offer, check out their Terms of Service.

Network Information:

They colocate their servers with coreXchange in Dallas, Texas.

The 100Mbps Port Speed keeps me from buying this. I ordered a 100Mbps VPS once (from another company) and I got 4MB/s max and 700KB/s normally. That’s just a bit to slow for my taste.
Other than that this looks like a nice offer :)

Just to be clear, you’re fine with game servers? Can I expect the ~70ms ping from the purchased VPS that I’m getting from your FTP server?

    • Please Test the ping before purchased, We do allow Games servers as long as not effect on other client or abuse on CPU or I/O

      Thanks:)

  4. The offer seems nice, but the website looks highly unattractive. Not to mention the many grammar mistakes. Oh and in the footer it says “Network status” which links to letbox.net (which doesn’t exist).

    December 13, 2012 @ 5:35 pm | Reply
    • The network Status page is Under construction, The most important thing for us now is compelet our VPS Control panel to help clients managed their VPs easily, and add some new featured like Monitor system via VPS control panel Allow Free SMS and unlimted Email Address Alert for FREE!!

    You almost had me until:

Refund: Short answer NO (seems SLA might allow for this).

Provide a short trial, or short money back window (even pro-rate if you must).

and now… yeah, really not going to risk my money here.

      - LetBox does NOT accept cancellation requests via email, phone, or support ticket. Not using the service, non-payment, or moving your service elsewhere, is NOT a valid method of cancellation---nor are we aware when such is done, Left services without paid or request cancellation a $5 Fee for VPS services and $30 for dedicated server will be charged If looking back to us again..
      - Chargeback against a legit charge placed by LetBox, a $20 administrative fee will be charged per chargeback.

      • Let me explain this point, Resources were assigned to you which could have been assigned to someone else, so it’s not fair for you to get your money back or just leaving the services without request cancellation or contact us.

I ordered, paid, received payment confirmation but 30 minutes later the VPS is not yet activated.

So, keep in mind that activations are not automated, if you need a VPS instantly.

I will post again with benchmarks when the VPS is ready (let’s hope they activate it soon!)

hi i want to know do you have contact email for general enquiry for non customers? Also i need to know things like does this have email support, i mean can i use the PHP mail() function to send emails using this VPS. I require to send 1000+ emails a month, to customers, but also it would be used within various different software titles to allow users to email me for support, send bug reports and licencing?

On a side note: anyone heard of a company called tecsupport.info they seem to have mysteriously disappeared after years of reliable service. Now I have lost access to all my files on their server. Also I had paid up till m ay 2013 so they are ripping me off… who do i complain to about this?

Why do you think they’re no good? I’ve been with them for several days now, I get good ping time and good bandwidth. I haven’t had to interact with anyone to get the work done (which is pleasant). It actually is pound for pound equal to another LEB I purchased from another vendor, with better latency, price, and throughput limit.

Avoid this company, they look for every reason under the sun to suspend your service. I and a friend had it happen and we lost all of our money. I used the VPS for a basic static website and my friend used it for a mirror to his website. They speak very poor English and have little desire to talk to anyone let alone provide support. This is just my personal review i would like to see if someone has had any positive experience with them.

I just registered two days ago and my server was up in less than a day.

I had a bit trouble finding how to reinstall my VPN with a 64-bit Debian, until I realized this must be done on manage.letbox.com and not in the client area. The account/password for manage.letbox.com was somehow hidden in the “VPS Box Welcome Email” (https://my.letbox.com/clientarea.php?action=emails) and wasn’t sent to my primary email (I double-checked my spam folder).

Other than that, I think the servers are running smoothly and pretty much as advertised. Please keep up the good work, LetBox!

Their support just barely speaks English. Seems as though they are using google translate.

Their network is lucky if it managed 3mbps and suffers from massive lag spikes.

Beware of this company. They offer absolutely no refunds so be careful.

Chicago VPS has a much better network and support staff. Been burned and don’t want you guys to suffer the same fate.

I would like to cancel my services and have my payment refunded.
Your network doesn't perform well at all.
I have been running a game server for a couple of days now and your network is not performing the way a 100MBPS network should be.
I have another VPS with ChicagoVPS.net with the same specs and the same server files, yet their network can handle the traffic and yours cannot.
Your control panel is also aweful.

      Ok, here is the aproof

      • Show them the email where I said I initially thought it was an issue of RAM, but after I tested the exact same game server on my VPS with the same specs from Chicago VPS I realized it was your terrible network. Amazing how you are using private tickets to try and make me look like the jerk.

Your company, your network, and your English are all horrible.

        • Now Ram issue? ok here is all your tickets.

        • Not only is your English writing horrible, but so is your comprehension.

I set up a game server on my VPS with LetBox. Nothing but lag spikes and terrible network congestion.

I set up the EXACT SAME game server on my Chicago VPS server with the EXACT SAME specs and have zero problems.

I reccomend you hire someone who speaks and comprehends English because it is very obvious that you don’t understand what I’m saying.

We will upgrade our network today (Friday) at 1600 CST, The anticipated downtime incurred would be a few minutes.

  29. I would like to retract my previous statement.

Although the speed was not what I expected, I have come to learn that it is within the reasonable realm of speeds for a 100mbps shared connection.

My apologies to letbox.com and their staff.

They just randomly suspended my service, no reason provided. Not responding to ticket.
Has this VPS provider gone rogue? this is the first time ive had problems with them.

Scratch what I had said previously, I am pretty sure they have gone rogue.
They are telling me (I think, very hard to understand) I am now only allowed to use 20% of the CPU usage I had purchased because otherwise I am ‘going over’ and overloading their servers. And for using my purchased amount of CPU speeds, I am now suspended.

      • Sebastian:

Continued… The customer support replied, they told me I was sent an email about my suspension, yet, there was no email in my spam, or inbox. I told them I didn’t get an email and the customer support literally CHALLENGED me with “Then how did you know it was suspended?”
HMMM I don’t know, maybe that my server randomly quit on me, and it says SUSPENDED on my services page?

  33. Just purchased a VPS from this company, needed a ddos protected system to host my darkrp server, since it seems to be a giant target. The installation was pretty quick, machine has pretty decent network speeds, but i’ve been tinkering around for the past 24 hours, hitting up all the forums asking for the support, trying to get the gameservers installed on this machine to contact steam’s masterserver list, ive tried multiple installation methods & operating systems, NOTHING WORKS. As for the support team, yes they barely speak the language and would rather blame your setup/configuration than try and troubleshoot something that’s most a problem on their end.

They have a very strict policy in their TOS regarding game servers “Games Servers Maybe allowed as long as no overload to CPU and I/O all the day If you feel unable to follow or Managed your Games Servers Please do not order with us.” did you read the TOS before ordering?

    • We are unmanaged services unfortunately we can’t help you to installing your games server if VPS not working please contact us.
